So DH and I are still reeling from our daughter's major health scare yesterday. (Posted it in the General Discussion). I mean, everything is fine, but for about 12 hours we were living our worst nightmare. And the whole time I was thinking about being pregnant and how the hell would we be able to do it/handle it. We have her follow up appointment on Monday, so I will finally completely relax after that. I'm so glad you got good news and hope you get more good news on Monday. I can't imagine how terrifying those twelve hours must have been.

FX that the news on Monday is just as good.

numbears, Honestly? Not great. Her oncologist (who I trust with our life) suspects she is fighting off a virus. However, he could not promise that it wasn't the start of her relapsing either. He pretty much said it was a 50/50 chance. However, since there were no physical signs of her leukemia coming back (just her blood counts); we have to wait two weeks to repeat the blood work. If they don't improve, then a week later he would say more blood work and possibility of a bone marrow test to rule out relapse. So, now it is just wait and see for two weeks. Maybe three.

fancynewbeesly, I'm praying for you guys and that your DD just has a virus. Is there anything we can do to help the time go by faster?

fancynewbeesly I am so sorry that you guys are all in limbo. I really hope the next week goes fast for you so you have some answers soon. My son is in his Maintenance period of treatment and had a really crappy couple of weeks recently. His counts were really low and he had fevers but nothing came up other than the guesses that it was viral. I know this may not help a ton, but I noticed he didn't show a lot of symptoms of a viral thing until his ANC raised above 200. I'm hoping you guys have something similar and it will clear out of her system soon. Sending hugs.

Damn. I'm so sorry and hope it's just a weird virus, fancynewbeesly. And I hope two weeks fly by for all of you.

oreobitsy and fancynewbeesly I don’t know the history of your kids illnesses but I can’t begin to imagine the emotions you’ve been through and keep facing. Hoping for the best news for you soon fancynewbeesly.

And during that year and half; her counts have never been "off"---during maintenance, we had a lot of times with that. But right now her WBC: 2.7; ANC is 470, Platelets are 107,000. Her red blood counts are fine. So I don't know. Her oncologist said that we should just wait and see what happens in the next couple of weeks.

fancynewbeesly Do you have any moms at your hospital who have had similar cases? Maybe they have had this happen too, but I know I would be constantly worried about it too. It is so hard to have that sense of normal, only to have to worry again. You check again next week? adeline My son also was diagnosed with leukemia a few years ago. He is still in treatment for another year. It was tough and still has some times where he feels crappy, but we have a lot of good times where we get to see him be a happy little dude. It's a roller coaster of emotions.
