I am usually all for people voting but THE LEAST these republicans voters in AL can do is NOT VOTE for a pedophile. If you can't support a democrat no matter what just stay home. Don't participate in an election where one of the candidates is accused of child molestation.I just cannot imagine a world where so many people give more shits about their political party over protecting our children. Like you are going to vote a pedophile into office for your anti-abortion agenda - terminating a pregnancy equals murder but who cares about the young girls being preyed on? Or your anti-gay agenda because family values?? Come the fuck on. I just want to shake all these people. My parents are apparently still planning on voting for Moore because they just can't vote for a Democrat or stay home. They make me so mad some days. I have heard locally that some white female Republicans are planning to stay home now, but I won't hold my breath. Like do they just not believe the allegations or what? We were just talking about how H's grandmother is skeptical of all of the recent sexual harassment/assault allegations coming out. And she is a sweet, empathetic person. What reason does she have to choose this group of women over that group of men to trust?

I think she'll be the only no. Which isn't going to cut it. I’m disappointed that not even McCain is going to come through (although just those two wouldn’t be enough either). I thought he’d rediscovered his conscience. Yeah no part of this has been regular order

People also don't think it matters because it happened "so long ago." Or people like my sister saying "all men are trash" makes people turn around and do the exact opposite of what she wants them to do.

A friend on facebook said because Moore was elected to high offices in Alabama before this and the allegations never came out, and because Gloria Allred is a snake, he's just not sure about Moore. I want to engage, but I know it will get me nowhere.

I know, it just makes me so sad. I think a part of it is also living a relatively sheltered life in a small town and not being exposed to these kinds of things and therefore not being able to relate in real life. My SIL tried to relate some of her own experiences of harassment or inappropriate workplace behavior to give her an idea of how rampant they are and she listened and was sympathetic. I’m not totally sure if that changes how she feels about the allegations but I hope that these conversations do help in some cases at least.

Has this been shared yet? A little positive news: www.wbur.org/commonhealth/2017/11/20/mass-birth-control-access-lawMassachusetts has passed a law to ensure women still have access to no-cost birth control even if ACA is repealed. It’s not everything but it is important. I hope that other states are able to do something similar.

redbears, mb3, they randomly tested 10 houses and 3 of them have issues. The 3 that have high lead have been notified. They have replaces some pipes. Further testing is being done. Don't panic, etc. etc. I'm in a small town in Central IL. Haven't had many issues in the past, but there have been some concerns about old pipes in the schools and such. The letter pretty much told us to check if we have lead pipes and to use cold water instead of hot for cooking and cleaning.

SO my rep, rob wittman, just fucking “liked” a comment on his page telling him to ignore the haters.
Haters = people who disagree with the tax bill.
What a fucking asshole that is openly happy about ignoring us.

Good Morning! NPR has me going off this morning. First let me start with Ajit Pai. I will admit when he started talking during the interview this morning I screamed Fuck You as loud as I fucking could I am pretty sure everyone around my car heard me. He started with saying that back in the 1995 Bill Clinton had the correct touch for handling the Internet. Because of that companies were able to thrive like Facebook & Google. This was a completely different time. This is 2017 and the Internet is a bigger and more neutral animal. I don't buy the whole argument that ISPs can't have these current regulations because it "stifles innovation." That is the biggest load of horse shit. IPOs and people working out of their garage are having NO problem innovating and building software, apps, code, hacks or hardware. I want this direct information to be clarified. Next question brought it all to light. She asked him if one of rural America's ISPs is the only ISP and wanted to upcharge. He said the answer to that is not government regulation it's more competition. HOW VERY REPLUBLICAN AND TIMELY this answer is. This is their answer to everything. People don't understand what the service is they are being provided and so instead of giving them an easy solution they decide to give them more options and confuse the fuck out of people more with information they have no idea they are doing. And when she asked him about ISPs charging more for different speeds and sites he said that the FTC should be the watchdog. Like they will actually have the time to censor monitor all the ISPs at any point in time in the way technology changes. I am so angry. They vote today to revert this regulations back to 25 years ago. I am so tired of going backwards. ISPs just want to make more money and they are complaining about it. That is to fucking bad. You are a utility not a media company. FUCK YOU. FUCK YOU SO HARD. What the fuck does he think the FCC is for?! He feels the FCC is not the correct vehicle and does not have the jurisdiction. It is just a way for his supporters and more GOP members to get more money this way.

I hope you are able to find out quickly if your pipes are lead free or not. The fact that it's only 3/10 makes me think the entire water supply is not an issue though, which is a positive. If you are the anxious type you could probably ask your pedi to do a lead test. I'm just outside of Chicago and lead testing is standard here at 9 and 18 months given the age of the home. It's a really simple fingerstick test. I hope your town can give you more info quickly and they can determine how the school pipes are too.

Or your anti-gay agenda because family values?? Come the fuck on. I just want to shake all these people. I totally agree with this! So if I follow the Republican Agenda correctly it goes like this.....
- Listen to the promises of values and rules guided by gospel and scripture and that will make life better.
- Tax the poor to give the rich all the poor's money (Poor as in anyone outside the top 1% a.k.a. people making more than $1Million a year)
- The poor women but remain as they did in the 60s there for submitting to men.
- The poor women should not have contraception while submitting to men.
- The poor women gets pregnant and should not be able to get an abortion (because GOD) if mother doesn't want to have it or can't afford to care for it.
- Finds out values and rules from scripture quoted above is bullshit and the all mighty dollar is more important than your health and the safety of your children.
- Realize it is too late and they have already put you in this position and you have no options.
- Child forced to be born into terrible situation or up for adoption and given to the system.
- Child is open to abuse and sexual abuse but is acceptable from anyone in a place of power and Republican.
- Child grows up to be a women and should remain quiet about sexual abuse because "that's just your boss, or so and so". (You know 60s mentality)
- Women pays taxes into system that does not support her.
- Repeat.
Do I have this right? So does the base sit and take it even if they are supporters of Trump and turn a blind eye to all of this? I want to physically yell at people today. PHYSICALLY YELL!

Some CSPAN caller is blaming men who do sexual assault on not being guided by the "holy spirit". What absolute horse shit. He says it could be fixed by allowing god into school and teach about jesus in school it will fix things. And people relying on their own intelligence only makes them vain and are more prone to sexual assault.
I am so tired for people thinking religion is the answer to everything. I am really wanting to start a religion thread so people can help me understand this and have a respectful and informed discussion. Would anyone join me?

This was done routinely with my kiddos and they tested high because we have a super old house that happened to be renovated in the seventies. The initial test was a finger prick and the follow up was an IV blood draw. It’s a pain, but the numbers are more conclusive. Then someone from the state came out and tested basically every surface in our home and told us where the high levels were located so we could fix those issues. They want to work with people, IME. They were super nice and informative and tested more things than probably necessary because of our anxiety. And our kids levels are down now that we knew and fixed the issues. In your case, it would be a good way to get the city involved since you know they were willing to replace pipes on the other homes.

I also had a similar experience to bunnyfungo in our old Victorian. Our oldest tested high on the finger rock so we followed up with blood tests on both boys. Those tests ended up being o. The edge of "normal" so opted to test a bunch of stuff anyways. One thing that did ease my mind a bit is that the range for high levels has changed in recent years. Granted it is because we know more e about long term effects of lead, but my pedsaid that when we were kids under 10 was normal and now it is under 5 micrograms. Also treatment is considered necessary for levels above 45 micrograms. So there is a huge berth between where a child needs treatment and preventative testing, ya know?

And on this festive day, our President uses his favored platform to pat himself on the back (for things that were mostly Obama’s doing) instead of any real Thanksgiving message:
Up early to get some things started for dinner. Hope all of you have a wonderful day, and that those with Trumpian relatives have plentiful booze and patience. Hugs to all!
