As facetious as it sounds, I'm actually very thankful that we have made it through almost one year of this insanity *without* the president having started a nuclear war. Sigh.

One of my sorority sisters who voted for DT texted me asking for a photo of DS. I accidentally sent a screenshot from Trevor Noah’s monologue about sexual assault instead.
Not sorry.

My pastor was ripping apart the “religious right” this morning at having sold the soul of Christianity for a few more votes. He talked about #me too, racism, class warfare, refugees and the opioid crisis in his sermon about social justice this morning. He did not hold back today.

H and I were both singing "come back Barack" this morning. Funny but depressing

I keep seeing the headline about Trump now paying his own legal bills. And every time that happens I get a big smile.

I keep seeing the headline about Trump now paying his own legal bills. And every time that happens I get a big smile. Well, "paying" in this case probably means channeling illegally obtained campaign funds through illegal businesses to pay for the bills and then illegally (or, well, under the new tax bill probably legally) claim them as charitable donations for deductions.

Just a reminder and the fact that this isn’t even being discussed in Washington:

I don't think Merkel's future is in doubt at this point. The Greens and her own party gave her very high praise for how she conducted the talks. It's only the FDP that seems to be highly critical at the moment. I think it's more likely that Seehofer, the head of the CSU (Merkel's sister party in Bavaria), will have to go. And I wonder if Schulz of the SPD will really be willing to risk new elections instead of re-entering a grand coalition with the CDU/CSU. If he is portrayed as the reason everyone has to vote again, I would imagine the SPD would lose even more votes (and they already reached a historic low in this election). So I am guessing that he would come around before new elections take place. Although I'm less certain of that with him than with other politicians - he is definitely a "walk the talk" kind of politician and would have to come up with a very good, rational reason for going back on his "no way will we be part of a grand coalition again" statement.

He SHOULD be paying his security bills since he is bankrupting the Treasury department and the Secret Service keeping his ridiculous family safe.

Ugh. I figured there would be more. I actually didn't, especially because of the way he apologized and opened himself up to an investigation. None of that excuses any of his actions, obviously.
