Welcome to the IVF check-in for November 16! Check-ins will be every Monday (babyhopes) and Thursday (bonzo). If we've left you off the check-in, or if you'd like to be added or removed, please let us know! This is a check-in for those who are doing IVF or FET. Please don’t hesitate to use this check-in for IVF/FET info and support even if you’re not currently cycling. If you are interested in joining, please fill us in on your cycle. Everyone is welcome. Also, please update us along the way! Asterisks will appear by your name if you do not update us in a check-in. After four consecutive asterisks (2 weeks), you will be removed from the list. Don’t fret if you are removed from the list, check in again and we will add you back. Once you get a strong repeat beta, congrats! We eagerly await your 3TIF Grad Check-In posts! We encourage you to intro on PAIF, and while here in the meantime, please consistently use warning tags in posts and siggies, and be mindful of your status, especially on 3TIF outside this check-in. Hey everyone! Sorry I never got the check in up last week! Things have been really busy with work and my parents' visit. I feel like I can finally breathe again...but then we head home for Thanksgiving and the craziness that will happen there. Maybe after the semester is over I'll get some real downtime.
I have a new least favorite phlebotomist. I went in to get my Vit D and thyroid levels rechecked as part of gearing up for DE cycle, and had a new person. The needle hurt the whole time it was in my vein. One of my favorites was there, but not drawing my blood, so that made me a little sad. Oh well, at least I don't need my blood drawn again for the rest of 2017 as far as I know!

bonzo, Day 3 yielded great results! I still have my 9! I just hope and pray we have a few when the PGS testing is complete! My next update will be Saturday and Sunday. Onto surgery on 12/13 and then with my January period we can get started with the FET!

skidevil87, that’s AWESOME! bonzo, I hate people who can’t figure out needles. AFM: my RE finally called and does feel confident about trying again. Want to use lupron suppression and some higher doses of some stuff. I am ready to go again also but need to get my h on board. Will probably wait until January... otherwise, I’d be starting around Christmas (like the 24 or 25 or 26) and couldn’t go away for the holiday. So. I’ll wait another cycle and go January. But buy meds in December for my medical deduction. Lol. Can anyone talk to me about supplements for egg quality? What was taken, for how long prior to retrieval and did it help?

happyin14, my RE really likes CoQ10 and DHEA for egg quality. He likes his patients on them for a minimum of 3 months before IVF. He had me on some other supplements too, but those are really the big ones. While they didn't help enough for my case, studies have shown that both can be very beneficial.

skidevil87 yay! Everything crossed your embies continue to do great! happyin14 from what I've read supplements work best when you've take. Them for at least 3 months because that's how long it takes for the eggs to develop. Have you read the book It Starts with the Egg? There's a lot of good info in there about supplements for egg quality. AFM, I expect AF late next week, and we will try again. I'll probably post a general board post and maybe officially intro in the board?) but what voodoo, juju and science do you know of for growing a good lining? Or if there's a good resource somewhere if you could point me to it that would be great. Thanks in advance!

Estradiol is generally what I've seen as the medicine for fluffing up lining. I have found that for me, the skin patches do next to nothing, but I have had success with estradiol pills taken vaginally. I am also taking estradiol valerate IM shots this cycle for my upcoming FET.

skidevil87, FX those other blasts keep growing well! I've come down with a cold. Right before flying for Thanksgiving. I'm resting and hoping that the congestion goes away before I have to get on a plane!

So we ended up with 3 total beautiful hatching blasts. The embryologist stated that if they PGS normal- we have 3 really good chances. I can’t lie. I’m a little disappointed. I was really hoping we could get 4-5 out of the 9 we started with

bonzo, I know, I should be grateful, and hoping that they look nice, they should PGS correctly. This is just our only chance at IVF unless for some reason we win a grant of some sort. My husband and I both decided that if we don't get any good embryos out of this, we won't be continuing to pursue our genetic children. We will be paying off our debt and beginning the adoption process. I'm just really hoping!

So no drugs until things start going completely off the rails. I will be doing progesterone though. I'm guessing that if this cycle doesn't work out either we'll probably do a medicated FET.

I was trying to be optimistic about the 3 you have. I get the feeling of disappointment at it not turning out better, especially since this is your only shot. I'm sending you lots of good thoughts, and truly hoping these embryos are the ones for you!

Well, damn. Cancelled again. Lining looked cystic and went to a 5, probably from too much estrogen. Going to try vaginal and patches of estrace instead of IM and even though they batch, he’ll let me do December before the year ends and our out of pocket max ends. Tentative schedule of transfer is 12/20. So it sucks bad, but I keep thinking there must be a reason for all this disappointment. Once my lining gets to a 7, I’m going for it

I don't think I have reported here, but there is not a whole lot to report. Waiting on the new year to start the IVF craziness. I am definitely in the TWW of another natural cycle this month, but not holding my breath.

Hi, I’m Jacks. I will be officially joining you all in here in January (most likely), but I have my first IVF game plan appointment on Monday. We went through 3 rounds of medicated IUI and are now switching to IVF. We are using frozen partner sperm due to cancer treatments.
I’m overwhelmed by everything now, but will hopefully be slightly less so after the appointment on Monday. Unfortunately, I go to all the appointments solo, and have a terrible memory and never think of questions.

jacks, I did most of my appointments solo also. Take notes! You can google at home. Questions are about protocol they are using and why. How they handle changes in meds during the cycle. Plans for fresh/frozen cycle. Discuss if your doc recommends PGS Testing. How often the lab updates you on embryos.... Hmm.... if I think of more things, ill let you know!
