Hi all, I'm sorry we have to meet this way.
Just a little bit about me, we had a confirmed mc about a week and a half ago when I would have been 8.5w. This is technically our 3rd loss which is very unnerving. We are lucky enough to have 2 healthy kiddos, our son being our rainbow after the first mc and then cp. This loss has been so very different in terms of how it happened that I'm still not entirely sure if it's completed or not thus leaving me with some, probably odd, questions that I hope someone might have some experience with or could offer up any info about.
1. We were given the option to use misoprostol. I haven't taken it because at the time it was prescribed, I was still bleeding and had not yet passed the placenta which was still somewhat attached. Since then, I'm fairly certain everything has passed and I'm only spotting every few days. However, I'm still testing positive. Any experiences around tests taking quite a bit to return negative even when bleeding has stopped would be welcome. I was told that if I still have a positive test 2 weeks in, to give them a call so I could get checked again, and now I'm questioning my decision of not taking the mosprostol and wondering if I should take it now just to be sure?
2. I've always temped, even when we weren't actively trying just because it helped us protect as well. Until this morning my temps have still been fairly high, which I assume is consistent with a still positive test. What I'm unsure about is whether a sudden drop in temps means that the mc is actually complete and if I should start seeing negative tests soon?
I hope that all made sense. I know it's a lot....sorry about that.

I’m so sorry for your loss flyliceandcoffee. I also had a loss at 8.5w although I opted for a D&C. I had positives for a looong time - I think about 5 or 6 weeks? I was working with a RE at the time and she had me come in for betas after a few weeks to make sure they were dropping. They were, just slowly. All that to say that your HCG can be pretty high by that point in a pregnancy and take awhile to come back down. So I wouldn’t automatically be concerned but I would probably check with your doctor to see if they still want you to take the misoprostol. Again, I’m so sorry. Sending you light and love.

I’m so sorry for your losses. I also had a d&c but I tested positive an entire month after the d&c and my hcg levels still hadn’t reached zero at that point. I’d wait a bit or just put a call into your dr to see what they suggest.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I also had a loss at around 8.5-9w and had a D&C. It took me about a month to get a negative beta and though I don't remember taking tests to track the line down, I'll bet I would have had positives for at least 3-3.5 weeks.
I also started charting again before I had negative betas and it was kind of a clusterfuck. My charts are already rocky to begin with (thanks PCOS!), but if you'd like to see what I had, I'd be willing to share. The temps did seem to drop off once the hCG presumably flushed out of my system.

I'm sorry for your losses.
For me, two of my four losses took much longer than a month for my betas to go back to <5, quite a while after bleeding actually stopped. One was just a fluke, and one was a partial molar pregnancy. I wouldn't worry about it yet if everything else is normal.
As for temping, I never did that so I'm not sure if there's a correlation there.

This was the farthest along we've been with a loss so I figured it would take longer but wasn't sure how long. If you don't mind sharing your chart that would be great to see. My temp popped back up again this morning so I think I'll be all over the place for a bit but seeing something to compare would be great.

Welcome, although I am also sorry you are here. After taking misiprostol at 7.5 weeks, I had HPT+'s for a least 3 weeks. 1. It makes sense that you are wondering about that. If it were me, I would call the office to ask their opinion rather than trying to make that judgment call myself. That way I wouldn't have to take it if they think I don't need it, but I also wouldn't have to beat myself up if it ended up being needed. 2. I just saw lower temps on days I bled more and higher temps on days I bled less, but it definitely fluctuated for a while and then took a couple extra weeks to ovulate compared to normal once bleeding stopped.

I’m so sorry for your losses. I also had positive tests for at least four weeks following a D&C.

flyliceandcoffee, I'm so sorry for your previous losses and your most recent one you are going through. I have had two M/Cs, but neither as far along as you (mine were right around the 6w mark). My first was sudden, but complete. My betas tracking down reflected that. My second also seemed sudden, but was apparently not complete because my beta results resembled a bit of a roller coaster. Neither time I took meds. But I had a D&C with the second. I hope you can find resolution soon. I don't know how much I would pay attention to FF until you've had your next period.

I'm so sorry for your losses.
I had a loss at 8 weeks, and used misoprostol to move things along and it still took just over a month from passing everything to getting negative blood and urine tests.
My temps dropped fairly quickly after I used the miso, so considering I still had positive tests for a month, I don't think they were necessarily correlated. My temps did return to mostly normal patterns once I got my first post-loss period.

I don't have anything useful to add that wasn't already covered, but I wanted to jump in and say I am sorry for your loss. This isn't a club I think any of us would choose to join, but I'm glad we're all here to support each other.

I am so sorry for your losses.
I just had a m/c. It was diagnosed at 8.5 weeks, but I didn't actually miscarry until 10 weeks. I bled for 3 weeks, then got my period about 5.5 weeks after the start of my m/c. They tested my HCG that day and it was down to 5 (still could have showed positive on a HPT). I am now bleeding again, less than 3 weeks after my first post-m/c period, and I've been told that cycles can be abnormal for a while following a m/c. I hope that helps.
