Hi all! Im just a lurker here but am wondering if you all could provide some insight...
DD1 is 2.5 yrs old and snores like a freight train. It’s loud enough you can hear it outside her closed door, no monitor needed. She’s pretty much always had it since she was born and I kind of just chalked it up to normal newborn. noisiness. When she started daycare at 5 months it seems like we’ve had a perpretually running nose so we kind of just assumed that was the reason. But now 2.5 years later now I’m not so sure. Her 3yr appt isn’t till March but I could bring it up with her pedi at my LOs 2 month checkup next month. Just not sure if this is normal or something I need to start investigating more seriously.
So do toddlers snore? Do they grow out of it? Do I need to be taking this more seriously?

My DD is 20 months and has snored off an on since she was a newborn. It depends on how tired she is and what position she sleeps in. Mh is the same way.
That being said I would only be concerned if it was getting worse, he had trouble breathing, or you noticed any glaring changes in behaviour. I would still bring it up to the pedi in March, but I personally don't think it's a thing to address immediately.

Ds1 will be 3 in January and he snores occasionally. My cousin's daughter snored badly and had major problems sleeping. She ended up needing surgery and still isn't a great sleeper. As long as it isn't effecting her sleep and there's no trouble breathing, I'd just wait until her appointment in March.

Thanks. She’s a really good sleeper but then I didn’t know if that was because she is so tired from snoring/breathing or whatever. I’m probably over thinking this too — way too much time on my hands during maternity leave!
Thanks again!

danvers, DS was a snorer. Asleep and awake. He was constantly sick, which we assumed was because of daycare. At all of his well checks, he was actually sick. I commented to the doc that I wasn't sure if he was always sick or he just felt like he was always sick, so I started keeping a log, and realized.. he just always SOUNDED sick. We went months without a single day of him seeming 100% normal, with bouts of real sickness along the way. I brought the calendar along to his next appointment and we got a referral to an ENT who scoped him and we found out his adenoids were blocking almost all of his airway. Surgery a few weeks later and he's so much better. No snoring while he's asleep and rarely when he's awake (except for when he really does have a cold) All that to say... I'd probably see about getting a referral to an ENT.

My dd has never really snored but not sure how common it is. I’d bring it up at your upcoming appointment to see what the doctor says.
