I'm thinking early about what to get the teachers for the holidays. I guess now is the time to order them if they are going to be personalized.

I was thinking about getting the teachers a turkey for thanksgiving instead of waiting until xmas. I would rather get them something now than when they are overwhelmed with gifts. Would it be weird if I asked them if they could use/store a turkey or should I just get one for them?

I always do the same thing. A huge basket of snacks (granola bars, nuts, pb crackers, gum, chocolate covered pretzils, truffles, oatmeal, hot chocolate, tea, mints, Starbucks instant coffee, ect) along with Target gift cards for the main teachers.

I keep teacher gifts pretty simple, just a gift card (usually Starbucks) with some good chocolate on top.

They take up a lot of storage and a lot of people probably wouldn't have tbe desire to cook a full turkey. MH's company gives out turkey's every year and he never takes one.

Then I was thinking maybe a ham, takes less space and much less cooking work eta if i gave this at xmas time it would also be something they could cook while off for the week.

Of the two, I'd prefer a honey baked ham personally because they're easy to cook and take up less room. I'd have zero clue how to cook a turkey and have no desire to learn. I also don't have a pan big enough to cook a turkey.

This is more work, and a class gift instead of individual, but I did it the last few years I was class mom. I sent home an envelope to each of the parents with a cute Christmas tag in it and asked each parent to have their kiddo write what they loved about the teacher. Then I collected them and put them all in either a mason jar, or one year a glass ornament, and then made a cute gift basket for it and the kids presented it.

I bought a whole bunch of cute burlap Christmas drawstring bags in the Target dollar spot. I'll fill them with candy and put a gift card in with it. That's also what I did last year.

I don't know if I understand the logistics of giving/getting a turkey. Is it frozen? Do you wrap it up? I'm not trying to be funny I really just can't imagine you walking in with five turkeys.

Last year I had Panera cater a surprise lunch for the teachers. I might do that again this year. Everyone liked it.
I would not be thrilled with being given a gift of cooking something since I don't cook.

You could do really cool spices and grains or a big pasta basket with different shapes of pasta and really good jarred items like red peppers, pesto and olive oil.

Cadence has been there so long and loves all the teachers, so lunch for all of them would be great.

I usually do Yankee Candles but this year I'll probably do money/gift card for H's teachers and a victoria's secret/bath and body works gift set for M's.

I always give cash. Usually equivalent to 1 weeks pay. But she's an in home sitter that has dedicated her life to the kids she watches and her own. I don't know of any hobbies, they don't go out, she doesn't pamper herself in any way. They camp and spend time as a family. I also get a little gift bag with candy and an ornament that the boys pick out too. And I name and date it. She lost her mom and ornaments were her thing so she appreciates the gentle reminder. I did this the first year and she thanked me and told me this and how much it meant to her so we keep it going.

This is making me laugh imagining it. Like, I can't stop laughing. I'm imaging Sunny carrying 6 turkeys and they keep dropping and rolling all over the place while the other parents are walking in with their gift cards. I legit can't stop laughing. ETA: I didn't mean that in a mean or rude way, it's just a funny scene playing in my head.

Or five shopping bags that the bottoms keep breaking on because the turkeys are so heavy.

I've donated to the teacher gifts fund ($100 each). I'll still probably get something small and send with a holiday card.

N has two teachers and then our babysitter. One of his teachers will be going on Maternity Leave after Christmas break so I was thinking of making her some sort of basket for her as a new mom/Christmas basket.

If you wanted to do a food-related gift Sunny41, I think a grocery store gift card or something to a place like Honeybaked Ham, etc. could be nice. That way they could use it to get something they need for the holidays, or just regular groceries. I'll probably go the gift card route this year, and maybe drop off some snacks/breakfast treats for the admin ladies.

I have been giving this a little thought. Both of her teachers are grandmother age. I was considering a gift card to a local bread bakery that does great specialty loaves.
In the past I’ve gotten restaurant gift cards for her daycare provider.
My work sends out a voucher (should be here any day) for either a free turkey or ham at the grocery store, certain items at honey baked ham (like either a turkey breast or a couple sides), or a gift basket to the bread bakery that I mentioned above. I like that and get a turkey and ham usually from the grocery store because they have a bogo free this time of year.

I usually just do a Gc’s. Or one of those European cookie tin boxes from Costco. Or truffles. I’m interested to hear how the turkey handoff goes. Where would they store it before they go home?

I was going to bring a rolling cooler at the end of the day. The 2 main teachers leave a few minutes after I get E. I was trying to come up with something different and useful. It is funny to think about me carrying them though.
