What do you keep your thermostat set to during the summer and winter?

I like it cold when I sleep so we are usually at 68 in the summer and 67 in the winter. H would prefer if at 70 in the summer and I would prefer 69ish in the winter so we compromise on both.

Ours is usually set to 72 year round. DH would prefer it to be a little lower, but I'm the one that's home most of the day and don't want to freeze when he's not here.

64 in the winter. We don't have central air, so just window AC units at night only in the summer.
I am cheap. I am also wearing thick socks, sweatpants, and a sweater right now, and so are my kids.

We keep ours at 67 in the winter and 70 in the summer. If it were up to me, it would be set at 70+ in the winter. MH is always hot and I’m always cold so we’re not a good match in that way. A typical winter night involves him wearing shorts and no shirt and me wearing sweatpants, socks, and a sweatshirt. And a blanket.

I generally keep it at 70-72 year round. If the weather is much colder/warmer outside, I adjust it accordingly.

I hate being hot, so usually 74 in the summer and 68 in the winter. But we have some weird factors - we live in a single-story, middle condo unit with units on either side, so we don't get a ton of sunlight and 74 feels much cooler than it does in a standalone house. And we live in southern CA so "winters" are so mild, the heat miiight kick in overnight from time to time.

katietopaz Nearly twins again. 74F/23C in summer and 64F/17-18C in winter. I also refuse to turn on the AC in summer until it's 90F/32C outside or 32F/0C outside, so my thermostat is often off. Luckily, our house holds temperature well, so it's not that big of a deal. We make good use of blankets and cuddling in the cold months, but it's a lot harder to cool down in the summer than heat up in winter. *reasons I loathe summer*

For the winter we keep ours set from 68-70. I would prefer warmer because I am always cold. We do have a wood stove in the basement so if I get too cold I can go sit down there.

We heat with wood so don’t set it per se, but my goal is at least 70. I run cold and the house is a drafty so it’s not consistent.
No AC so dont set anything in the summer either.

You can layer up to get warm, but even if you're at home and strip down to nothing, there's only so much you can do to cool off. Summer is the worst.

Especially since I overheat so, so easily. It's not the most fun.

65-68 in the winter and 70-75 in the summer. Rooms also have overhead fans to help. I’m cheap AF when it comes to this stuff. My goal is less a superncomfortable temp and more making sure it doesn’t get humid or stuffy.

74 year-round. We have a 2 story and the unit is upstairs, so the downstairs is too cold (for me, anyway) in the winter and the upstairs is too hot in the summer.

No ac, so we deal with summer as it comes. We do have window units for bedrooms if it gets unbearable.
In winter, its set to 55 at night or when we aren't home and 68 for the morning/evening hours and weekends. We turn it down manually when we aren't home.
I get weird pleasure from getting the energy reports from my gas company comparing our energy usage to out neighbors.

Ugh, tapatalk ate my post. I haven't read yet, but wet have an oil furnace and a thermostat set for different days/times. I think DH has it set for 65 for nights and middle of the day when we may be gone, then 70? in the morning and evening for a while. I crank it up to 72 for a bit if I'm cold. Then two winters ago we added a wood furnace that we start using when it's consistently below freezing. It is hard to keep low. With our small tight house it ends up being 80+ a lot of the time. But it's way cheaper and I'm absolutely happy to have it roasting inside and all the windows cracked for fresh winter air. It's the best!

Oh, summer. We may have a couple window units so it's hard to say what wet keep the room as. Air doesn't flow very well through our rooms so we often have them turned low and fans trying to distribute the cool.

Also of note, it's currently 77 in my little kitchen since I've had my oven on baking for the last four hours. It easily gets 85+ in here sometimes.

No a/c here, but we don't generally need it. Programmable thermostat is set to 52 during the day when we are out, essentially off. Then 68 when we are home and we'll bump it up to 70-72 as needed.
Envious of wood burning stove. Our air quality is so crappy in cold weather that the air quality board issues no burn notifications.

Agree with the PP that cold weather is preferred over hot. There is only so much one can undress.

We have an old house so in order for our upstairs to be a decent temp we have to keep the downstairs cooler than I'd like in the summer. We usually have the thermostat set around 68-70 (and I sometimes raise it to 72 if I"m too cold). In the winter I think it's around 70-72. Cooler overnight though.

i guess i've never kept track🤷♀️ right now ours is set to 72, i'm cold all the time though. we have a boiler and i'm not sure how efficient it is/accurate the thermostat is though. this house also has no ac, but we plan on putting something in this spring. i can handle being hot during the day, but once the heat messes with my sleep i'm crabby! +1 to being cold and just layering up vs. being hot and just miserable.

Summer the AC is set to 78 when I turn it on. Heat is set to 66 during the day and 62 over night. I hate being cold, but I also hate paying the gas bill.

Winter we have it set to 70/21 and I’d honestly like it a bit warmer. I have a blanket on right now. It’s set to go down to 64/18 at night and we have mini heaters in bedrooms just in case. In summer, it is what it is. We don’t have ac, so we crack windows or have fans going if it’s really bad. We spend a lot of time in the basement where it’s cooler and use the bbq for most meals.

We have ours adjusting when we are not home, when we get home, and bedtime.
Summer - when we aren't home it is set at 82, with gradual cool down to 78 for when we get home, and 76 overnight. Winter - when we aren't home, it is set at 68, with gradual warm up to 72 for when we get home, and 68 overnight.

74 or higher in the summer, and in the winter 68-70 during the day and 64 at night.
