Yes. Louise Linton. Google her—she was approaching the worst of the worst before she met him and together, it’s just perfect awfulness. I just wanted confirmation it was her and not some other random generic hot blond with no self-awareness. She really hasn't learned... You have offended my avatar.

All men are the worst. All of them. Do all these men being revealed ever make you question the men in your life? Not on a Roy Moore level, but on an uninvited kiss/ass grab/boob grope level? I know my husband is a good guy, just like my dad and brother, but I also thought Franken and Takei were good guys, too. I don't know. I honestly doubt, knowing how he was when we first started dating, that he would be that guy, but the thought has snuck through a time or two lately. Anyway, that's probably a topic for a different thread.

This makes me so sad and mad. It also reminds me that there have been several skits on SNL recently that have made me feel uncomfortable in that it appeared that maybe the physical contact between comedians was not actually consensual. Crossing these boundaries seems like a systemic problem in comedy that really needs to be reckoned with.

I hope she can get people to name names on the record. Could be a huge take down of slimey lawmakers coming.

The few times we've discussed it (basically every time a new allegation comes out) he has gotten so...... I don't know the word I'm looking for, conflicted? Basically upset wondering if he had ever said/done anything that made someone feel harassed. FWIW I highly doubt it, we've known each other since right out of high school. I've told him that I would be surprised to find out he had, but that I'm glad he's searching his memory and feeling bothered by the possability.

To different degrees and with varying levels of intent. But I'm sure my H and most other's Hs did something dumb in college at some point. If I'm being honest.

Of course that's why, but what's the "publicly stated" reason? Or have we abandoned all air of decency There are arguments that tourism safari hunts somehow actually lead to greater protections/ conditions for the endangered animals, like elephants. I guess because it brings money to the wildlife refuges. That seems pretty backwards to me though. I also just don’t understand why anyone would kill a living creature for sport. A good 30-35 years ago I had a boss who did go on a hunting safari. At that time, you did pay a pretty hefty fee (five figures) prior to departure to even be allowed to hunt a non-endangered species, and there was no guarantee you'd see, let alone be able to hunt, said species. The fees were to go support the country's conservation/animal refuge efforts (I want to say he went to Kenya, but can't remember for sure). He did go through a legitimate agency, though. After that safari, he went back on several photo safaris - he said he couldn't do another hunting one. This guy is in his 80's now. And, yes, I'm old too.

About the culture most men were raised in thus giving them the impression that it's ok, acceptable, or funny. All men are now questionable to me. All of them.

I think we've all done some stupid shit at 'college' age. I'm not excusing the behavior but being out in the world 'unfettered' from parental whatever, alcohol, underdeveloped prefrontal cortex, peer pressure, etc., all play into really dumb decisions. But at the age the current men are at the time of accusation, they should know better.

I think I agree with you, as sad and mad as it makes me. Although, if I find out my husband was grabbing butts in college, I'll smack him since we started dating in high school. Well, twice. Once for the grabbing and once for the grabbing while committed.

And I'm not saying every man has groped or assaulted or anything like that at all. But I am confident most men have said or done something to some woman somewhere that has made her cringe. I'm not excusing this, I think it's a fucking travesty. And we have to teach our children better.

Laughing uncomfortably at sexist jokes their friends/colleagues make, listening with a sympathetic ear about being friend-zoned, watching as a man repeatedly approaches an uninterested woman in a bar and turning away rather than "make a scene"...I can't imagine my husband/brother/dad actually crossing a line into harassment or assault, but I can easily imagine them doing nothing, keeping the peace, not wanting to offend their buddy or boss.

This is kind of how I feel about race as a certified white lady raised around a lotttttt of white people. Like, I know I've never said anything blatantly racist, or touched anyone's hair without asking, or any dumb shit like that, but did I say anything mildly insensitive or stereotypical when I was younger, because I didn't know better? Did I somehow make someone *feel* like they were even more alone in a room full of white people? Did I treat them ever so slightly differently? I think trying to account for that or worrying about it is a good thing, actually. In all likelihood, all of us have probably offended someone in our lifetimes along the fault lines of structural power, and we can all always try to do better.

I know my own personal values and beliefs will give them the foundation they need to be considerate and respectful of women but I still worry about messing that up somehow.

I’m just going to go watch the video of Drake calling out a dude at his concert who was groping women in the audience. He stopped the music and told him he’d fuck the guy up.
I don’t condone violence but with everything going on lately that made me feel good.

I also look a lot at how the men behave going forward. If you did something inappropriate 20 years ago and you say, "My god, I see now how utterly inappropriate that was and I am so sorry" I'm going to look at you a lot differently than if you say, "This is false," "She was wearing a short skirt," etc
