What to pack for hospital for baby?

I just had a freak out because we only have a couple of onesies with feet in newborn size and I don't know what I'm doing and is baby girl going to be too cold or dressed in ridiculously too big stuff if it's 54 or 56cm?

Talk to me like the clueless idiot I am and tell me what I do need. Onesies only? With sleeves/legs? Do I need to buy actual tops and bottoms? What will she wear outside the house?

Get onsies, both long and short sleeves, pants and socks. Bring a swaddle blanket to keep the baby warm in the car seat on the way home.

Also, for winter with the infant car seat they sell car seat covers that are pretty great.

What part of the country do you live in? I have only bought pjs with feet since it will be cold here and newborn socks never stay on.

With my daughter my mom got us a few of these gowns and they were the best for nighttime changes, which happened at every feeding. Then you don’t have to fiddle with snaps MOTN.

Then we would use a fleece halo sleep sack and usually swaddle her as well. We live in a temperate place, but rarely have the heat on, so I would think it would be similar to back in a cold area where you will actually heat your house. We also kept a hat on her at night.

For during the day, pants with feet are the best because socks never stay on. Otherwise we did onsies and swaddled.

We always had a warm blanket for car rides.

I'm not in the US, I'm in Belgium, we're expecting anything from freezing to 10c.

I would get a mix of stuff then. I always liked the Carters sets that come with a short sleeve onesie, a long sleeve onesie, and a pair of pants.

I’m a FTM but we have a bunch of fleece pjs and I’m probably going to be using those at first during the day. We also have a few of those sleep sacks linked above and ones like that with zippers that zip from the bottom. We have our house set to 68F now and our winter highs are 30-40F.

We did get a few shirts that are kimono that we have heard are easier for the umbilical cord care.

We didn’t get much clothes at our shower, but I’m guessing people will bring outfits to the hospital when they find out if we had a boy or girl and the final size.

I need to find the pants with feet.

For the hospital: really nothing other than a few outfits. One to bring them home in. Probably a blanket for the car. They'll give you everything else you need. Promise.

For the first few months LO wore gowns at night with swaddles, and onesies with feet during the day. Both cotton and fleece. She never really seemed to get cold other than her hands and feet. Which is still true. But, it doesn't seem to bother her. She still won't wear socks in the house.
