I'm volunteering in DD's class this afternoon. After drop off, I came back home and organized her book shelf. It's full and crazy but I could find only a handful of books to donate. Probably after the school year will be a good time to go through reading levels and really clean out her books.

Thursdays are the loooooongest for me always because H has class, so I'm doing solo bedtime, plus I don't work Fridays. Extra bonus this week is H also has tomorrow off, so we have a full three day weekend together! DS is going to my parents' tomorrow for a sleepover, and H and I have a date night planned, I am so excited. I'm just really hoping that DS does ok - last night all of a sudden he decided he was petrified of a snow monster (apparently there was one on Paw Patrol), and would not lay in his bed unless he could see me or H. We finally got him to sleep a little after 9 on his own after much reassurance that mom and dad were downstairs and could make sure he was safe, only for him to wake around 10 just as we were going to bed. So he spent a few hours in bed with us, which meant nobody really slept awesome. I really, really need this to be a one night thing and not a new phase.

We have DSs conference this evening. I already have chicken tortilla soup waiting for us to eat for dinner.
Grandpa is still in the hospital. I'm going to run up there after dinner for a quick visit. He's still in good spirits, which is good.
I'm hoping to get this crochet blanket done tonight too. I'm having a good time making them!

I subbed for a 2nd grade teacher today & it was probably my favorite out of the grade levels at DS' school now that I've done them all. They were getting kind of rowdy after lunch but I at least got rid of them for computer lab & she left reading rainbow for them to watch for 1/2hr before dismissal. I'm a lil annoyed by the principal. I feel like she's always up my butt & randomly coming in my rooms when I'm there moreso than what she would do with someone else. It's really irking me. Then at the end of the day, the secretary "calls" down the grade level for dismissal & as a mom, I ALWAYS see them go randomly & do not abide by this so I looked out into the hallway & saw nothing happening so I just went with them because all these kids were saying "we just go, we just go" & the darn principal was at the central intersection of the school & she kind of did this notion of move over & stop to let the kindergartners come through who are first. Like we literally had to wait for her to call down the 2nd graders while everyone passed us by. Like wtf is the point. There is no stupid point. It's so dumb. omg. I just feel like she's critiquing every little damn thing I do but this process they do at the end of the day is so dumb & it turned out that the secretary called down the 1st graders & there was the longest pause before the 2nd graders that the other teacher who is down the hall from me just motioned to me to 'just go.' See? It's not all let's follow the rules. But I thought I had a pretty good day, they're so much more independent than the younger kids & fairly more manageable minus a few kids.

Anyway, it's literacy night & it's superhero themed. It's a cool night where it's pizza & snacks first & then you walk around the school inside the classrooms & do literacy based activities. Last year they decided to do this during the day with the kids to accommodate parents that couldn't make it & thought that was just such bs. I'm glad it's back to being at night. It was a very busy night the prior years. It's not other parents' fault those few that can't come can't make it. So anyways, that's dinner & our plans tonight. I'm sure we'll pick something up afterwards though as it's one slice per person. LOL

I'm tired. DS has been really naughty lately & it's been excruciatingly exhausting. Idk how much more of it I can handle.
