Poppy slept through the night in her bed! She was in there until 6:20— hooray!
Last night I did end up going out with my friend and her H while MH put P to bed. It was really fun, and delicious food, and they unexpectedly treated me too!

Last night I had an advisory council meeting for our early childhood program. I came home to S1 being an absolute bear because it was basically bedtime and he was upset that he didn’t get to see me much.
Tonight is moms night out. So he won’t see me much tonight either. Good luck H.

Today and tomorrow are going to be a roller coaster of emotions type of days. One of my local radio stations collect money for Children's Miracle Network. 3 DJs stay on air for 28 hours. Listening to stories and hearing donations.

Mom of the year here
The three of us typically go outside and wait for the bus. I didn’t put a hat or mittens on Ethan because he takes them off anyway. He starts going ballistic after about 3 minutes. I put him inside and the bus came two min later. He was still screaming when I came in. It took good few min to calm him down. I pretty sure his hands hurt because it was so cold. I checked the temp and it was a real feel of 4 degrees. I guess I’m going to have him play on his tablet and pray that he doesn’t get into anything. I plan to check with the bus driver too to see if we can wait inside and have s1 run out when he there. The bus stops at our house

jedi - Can you take a monitor or something out with you so you can hear how E is doing? Or maybe take a blanket outside and wrap him up if he'll tolerate it? Don't feel bad, I'm ready for that battle myself. Thankfully, so far, we've only had to fight on the jacket, but we are getting to the point that a hat would be needed as well.

So, I may just share some of the stories I am hearing this morning. A little boy pulled $500 out of his Disney fund to donate this morning. Someone called in to match his donation. Then another person called and put in $1,000 so that the little boy could get his money back AND the donation still stand. Holy tears people.

fierymama that’s possible. I’m sure I’ll figure something out. Even S1 was getting cold. So I might just see if we can wait inside

My only concern would be if there was a substitute driver that didn't know you worked out a deal and didn't stop if they didn't see you.

Luckily we have a house (plus a large yard) away from the corner where the bus turns. So if I'm waiting and watching i see the bus stop and turn on our street. It is worth mentioning to the driver though... seen he's used to seeing us outside. I mentioned a few days ago that he told me that he appreciated us. I am assuming because he never has to wait for us. So I wonder if he's sitting at houses waiting.

I sent an email to S1 teacher a few days ago, along with his special ed teacher, to see how the med adjustment had been going. We increased the dose last week. I also asked about my MIL coming into the class for a visit. It's not often family can come into a spanish class and talk with the kids. Other kids have had people come in. His special ed teacher got back to me right away. His teacher emailed back rather quickly but said nothing about the med change and if she's noticing side effects. All she said was it would be great for Isaacs grandma to come, gave me two days next week for her to come. I responded that normally those specifics days work for me but that i had other commitments and was wondering if she had other dates the following week or after thanksgiving available. That was a day and a half ago. I have not heard from her. I guess she was in some training for two days... so I understand, to an extent but I am just so frustrated. When we are a spanish immersion school that does not like to speak spanish in front of students then... well... email is the best f-ing way to communicate. It's not like I can go to her classroom, easily, and talk to her. I would have my kindergartener with me, who you would prefer not to speak english in front of. Its not like i can really call you during the day either because then you'd be speaking english in front of students. I can try on a prep period i suppose. I just don't know if i am overreacting here? How long should it take a teacher to email you back about things like side effects to med changes/are the meds working or having a grandparent come visit. I am trying to be patient and understanding. Teachers have hard jobs especially kindergarten teachers.... add in the Spanish component and I know its challenging. But when he was in preschool.... i'd hear back from that teacher within a few hours. I am not regretting our decision to send to the spanish school but i just wish we had a teacher that was better at communicating and answering specific questions.
I have a playdate with a friend from school this weekend, who is also on an IEP and has similar struggles as S1. I am toying with the idea of asking this mom how communication has been with her just to see if she's experienced something similar as me. I mean... maybe this is just how it is with K-12? I don't know. Ugh.

I mean this has been an ongoing issue. And she’s been teaching for like 7 yrs so it’s not like she doesn’t know how it is. We briefly talked about communication at conferences and it sounded like most communication would come through his spec ed teacher but that teacher even said “so and so might have more to add”

It must be the year of bad communication. I went to a Parent Advisory Committee meeting at the daycare on Tuesday. My biggest concern is that I rarely see K's primary teachers at drop off/ pick up so I don't get small chats with them to see how her day was, what they are currently learning, what she could work on etc. The first response was that I could always request a meeting or make sure to sign up for the conferences (there are 2 a year, maybe 3). I'm sorry, but that's not sufficient. They are discussing being able to implement some kind of journal that can go between teachers/parents for children that are interested. I mean, is it that difficult to understand that a parent likes to know what is going on with their children who is in the care of another adult for the majority of their week?!

jedi I think I am lucky in that I'm not the only parent concerned about the current situation. There was a question submitted about it, I piggy backed on it and then another parent there also piggy backed off of me. I get that they are understaffed and it makes sense to combine rooms in the morning and evening, but one of my child's primary caregivers should be in that combined room.

Wow— do you get any regular communication from them? Our current daycare and our last one both used the tadpoles app which I really like. Pictures, videos, (usually captioned for context), notes on meals and naps, and they can add extra notes too. We also get a monthly calendar and newsletter to let us know the general plans for the month. They usually have a theme, and there are specific books they’ll be reading, letters they’ll be focusing on, etc. the tadpoles app at least seems pretty common, so that might be something to suggest to them.

coconutbacon Not really. I will see a someone who is with her for a part of the day and get something small out of her (she likes to play with the soccer ball, she is good with puzzles, etc), but nothing about her day overall. I might get that once a week. They don't have the tadpoles app. They use Remind for center wide things. They have Gold something or other, but in the 4 years I have been signed up for it, I have gotten maybe 3 things on there. I might run in to her primary teacher once a week and get a quick run down, but still not a lot of daily information on her. When she was an infant we would get daily sheets and her one room stopped and started using a white board that would have lunch/naptimes/daily activities listed. This room doesn't use the whiteboard because most drop offs and pick ups are done in another room.

+1 to the tadpoles app - love it when the teachers use it. it's glitchy at times too. but overall i like it.
