It much harder now with the kids and the toys with a million pieces. But it’s tradition. I started getting M to bring the paper to me last year 😂 I even find myself doing it at other people's houses. I don't know why it drives me so crazy. I too pick it up immediately (or put it where it goes to begin with haha). I use a box tho so everyone can put it in without it spilling over. I think it was DSs most recent bday where I tried to let it slide and MIL jumped up to clean haha. I didn’t mind

Thanksgiving is always a little difficult because that's when my dad died (not on the actual day, but that week). Last year my brother & his wife came to our house because my mom had just been released from the hospital and was too weak to go anywhere still. It was nice to all be together. I'd like to do that again next year (and this time, kiddo will have a cousin to play with!) but we haven't set anything in stone yet. Crossing my fingers that this year no one is hospitalized or dying. (So far so good).
Christmas is usually just us. We'll start decorating/X-mas music/movies starting in December. I'm excited because I managed bring some decorations from my childhood home and will be able to use them. Because neither of us is sure whether we'll be off for Xmas Day/Eve, it might "move" to accommodate our schedule.
Egg nog consumption starts now, however.

Since MH and I have been together, we have breakfast for dinner on Christmas Eve and watch Elf and The Santa Claus. N gets Christmas jammies and a new book on Eve, too.
