Okay, I appreciate the advice but you have no clue how Canadian ERs are run. There are so many people without family doctors that they have 2 teams - one to deal with real emergencies and one to deal with the non emergencies. I will call my family doctor and ask what he suggests but I'm fairly certain that he'll just tell me to go to the ER. That's the way it is around here. Okay, but you've stated a few times that you will have to lie in order to receive care. So I can't be that far off base that what you are intending to do is not an appropriate use of resources.

1. EDD/How far are you now? 9w5d
2. Symptom check: Very very tired, still nauseous with small vomiting although not as bad as last week. I started wearing my sea bands overnight so maybe keeping constant pressure on the digestive system acupuncture point is helping? Super bloated so I look very pregnant now, even with baggy clothes 😒
3. What and when is your next appointment? Next Friday for the NIPT blood draw and 11 weeks OB appointment. I am confused though, my OB sait no scan at that time but is NT scan different or part of the same early genetic screening?
4. Anything you’d like to share? I need to tell my work since I will need an Xray monitor and to stop manipulating some chemicals but I really hope I can hold until we get the genetic testing back and that everything looks negative. That’s probably 3 weeks away with Thanksgiving in the middle and my body might give me away earlier than that !
5. QOTW: What is your go-to meal that you prepare for dinner? Pasta with roasted veggies and pieces of bacon or ham. Or frozen pizza, lol

1. EDD/How far are you now? 7w 2. Symptom check: nausea that is much worse in the evening, sort as @* boobs, cramping and some slight spotting the last few days 3. What and when is your next appointment? first appointment Nov. 30 4. Anything you’d like to share? Just trying not to freak about the cramping and spotting. The cramping has tapered off and the spotting is sooooo slight that I feel a bit crazy and probably won't say anything to my MW. 5. QOTW: What is your go-to meal that you prepare for dinner? Lately it's been Tater Topped Pot Pie It's a HelloFresh recipe that is super fast to make, I also cut the mushrooms because blech.

Madymoiselle, at least with my last pregnancy, the NIPT blood draw was different than the NT scan. Both were performed by my genetic counselor's office but the NIPT was elective. I also think they like to have the NIPT results when doing the scan. Does your OB's office usually do the scan or do you have to go somewhere else? The NT scan needs to be done by 14 weeks so you'll still have some time to ask about/schedule it.

daisy818, when will you get the results back about your liver test? Speedy, I understand that it can be hard to get in to see a doc in Canada and a lot of people end up going to the ER. At the same time, those are people who are sick or having other medical issues. I'm with you that Pgal brain sucks, BIG time, and want to offer you some creepy internet hugs. I wouldn't feel comfortable lying in order to get seen, and would try to wait it out.

Madymoiselle In my current practice and the one I went to with DD it is on or the other. So either a NIPT blood draw or the NT scan (which involves a different blood test). In both cases I’ve elected to have NIPT and so no ultrasound.

Thanks charliefox, robot. I choose to have the genetic blood test with my daughter (and ended up with a $11,000 initial bill that made me sweat a few days lol). I was referred to my high risk doctor for all scans so I did not really click when she said ‘only blood test now’, I thought she was talking for her office, not the overall pregnancy. I’ll see what she says next Friday.

charliefox, the metabolic panel shouldn't take too long, but the bile acid test apparently takes longer. The patient portal says the results aren't due until 11/16, but I don't know if that's a conservative estimate or not.

1. EDD/How far are you now? June 5/10 weeks today
2. Symptom check: nausea still, exhaustion, insomnia. My hips are starting to hurt.
3. What and when is your next appointment? Last Monday of November.
4. Anything you’d like to share? Nothing much happening.
5. QOTW: What is your go-to meal that you prepare for dinner? Right now I'm all about the chicken ranch wraps.

daffodilsandcoffee I am doing the low dose of aspirin too. I was induced early with V for gestational hypertension, so they’re hoping to curb any possibility of developing pre-e this pregnancy.

daffodilsandcoffee, I will be doing the baby aspirin as well, for the same reason. I was induced at 36weeks with fast developing pre-e with my daughter, literally went over the week-end from all is good to we need to get this baby out asap 😶

1. EDD/How far are you now? 12+5
2. Symptom check: All day sickness miiiight be letting up a tiny bit. I still have no energy but that didn't improve until well into second tri last time.
3. What and when is your next appointment? Thursday, first OB appointment.
4. Anything you’d like to share? My MIL wants to do a "gender (ick) reveal" party like we did with our first. I don't really want to and I'm trying to get out of it. My compromise was having both moms in the room for the early sex determination ultrasound we're going to have at 16 weeks. I'm not sure she'll go for it though. She tends to not like to share.
5. QOTW:
What is your go-to meal that you prepare for dinner? Spaghetti. Because #lazy

I’m not going to lie, I’m sideeying someone faking miscarriage symptoms, especially with a loss history, just to get out of waiting for your first ultrasound. There are other options available. I understand your anxiety, and I’m not trying to minimize. But there are other, less icky options. ETA Speedy

I've called my family doctor and will be hearing back on Thursday or Friday. But if he has no answers, I'm going with my plan. I already had a missed miscarriage that would not have resolved on it's own and needed medical intervention. I'm not going to THIRTEEN WEEKS to find out that my baby died way back at week 6 again.

1. EDD/How far are you now? 5/12/18 - 13+3
2. Symptom check: Still some occasional nausea, headaches, fatigue, somewhat moody
3. What and when is your next appointment? Not until 11/29 - 16 week appt.
4. Anything you’d like to share? I've been feeling movement since about 11 weeks, not regularly at all. I felt two bumps last night though. Oh, and found out baby is a boy. <3
5. QOTW: What is your go-to meal that you prepare for dinner? I don't think I really have a "go-to meal". I try to mix it up as much as possible. My favorite, though, is what I call "pork chop casserole". It's basically a hash brown casserole with browned pork chops laid over the top and covered in cheese and french fried onions, baked for an hour. Yum.

I don't think anyone is faulting you for not wanting to wait and getting an earlier ultrasound. We're side-eying your method. We're suggesting you pay the money out of pocket and get the early ultrasound the right way without lying about it. Are you even sure that you'll get an ultrasound? Here, and there according to a Canadian friend I have, they will very likely only do a blood test to make sure the hcg levels are up.

1. June 28/ 7 weeks
2. Symptoms - no nausea thanks to zofran, I’m turning into a real bitch tho. My tolerance for BS is so low when I’m pregnant.
3. Thursday
4. I will also be taking aspirin to be pro-active about pre-e. Will most likely start progesterone shots around 16 weeks to prevent pPROM. And I guess just hope I don’t get GD again? I dunno.
5. Whatever I can throw in my IP.

1. EDD/How far are you now? June 25; 7w2d
2. Symptom check: sore boobs, fatigue, insomnia, forgetfulness, constant hunger
3. What and when is your next appointment? Tomorrow is my ultrasound! Hoping my first appt will be scheduled soon after.
4. Anything you’d like to share? I'm so nervous for my ultrasound tomorrow. I have to go to another OBs office to have it done since my dr no longer does ultrasounds. I'm afraid they won't tell me anything and even after the ultrasound I'll still know nothing.
***TW loss mentioned***
This is the point in my first pregnancy that I miscarried. I am so anxious and nervous that I don't know what to do with myself. I am just hoping I will know something after my u/s tomorrow.
5. QOTW: What is your go-to meal that you prepare for dinner? Pasta of some sort

Wow guys, really great. Way to make me feel fucking attacked.
I DON'T PAY FOR MEDICAL PROCEDURES, POINT BLANK.
If I have to fudge the truth a little bit so fucking be it. At least I'm not one of the bums who calls an ambulance claiming to have a heart attack just so they can get a ride into the city for bingo. Yeah, that's fucking happened here. I actually have a legitimate reason to be at a hospital, and I'm not lying, just playing up my symptoms.
As for actually getting an ultrasound, yes I'm sure I'd get one because I had one for both of my losses and my best friend got one when she just went in for vomiting. My province has a smaller population so they can spend more on procedures (and do so that the federal government reimburses them).
I know the system here, hell, I'm practically in the system, and I know that it would not be uncalled for for me to show up at the ER for an ultrasound.
So would you please just all fucking drop it already!?

You're the one who said that you could pay for an elective ultrasound but is choosing not to by "embellishing" (or as other people understand it, lying) about having bleeding. You do you, but don't expect other people to support lying in an effort to abuse emergency medical care.

Look @mthibodeau, we are all routing for you to get an ultrasound, waiting to 13 weeks to make sure everything is ok, with your history of loss, is absurd. We are just not seating right with you faking bleeding to get into the ER.

I talked to my midwife today and she said if she were me and had strong cramping that she would want an u/s before getting on a trans-atlantic flight so my first u/s is tomorrow. For some reason this make me more nervous than not having one. Can't I live in denial?!

EDD/How far are you now? 9 weeks, 2 days 2. Symptom check: Exhaustion. So, very very tired. Also pressure/pulling in my uterus---which is odd. I have bouts of queasiness--it happens more frequently when I am tired though. 3. What and when is your next appointment? Tomorrow. It is the long genetics counseling appointment. I want to say they said to estimate about an hour to an hour and a half for it. 4. Anything you’d like to share? I still have PGAL, even though I have symptoms. I just can't wait until the genetics testing is over and done with and then I'll feel more comfortable telling more people. 5. QOTW: What is your go-to meal that you prepare for dinner? My 6 year old LOVES pork chops. So that seems to be our go to a lot of times

Thank you to all who chimed in about the baby aspirin. I also looked at some studies and they were reassuring. It was just weird to me because my best friend had never heard of it, and she just gave birth recently to her third child and had pre e with all 3 pregnancies and blood pressure issues after each one as well.

I think it's a very recent recommendation. I was skeptical too, but H and I did some research, and we asked our friend who is actually an OB/GYN at my practice, and she said she highly recommended that course of prevention.
