This is long...
DD2 is officially a week old and we are in a bit of a conundrum. We bought a Bassinet and even in its locked out position it tilts ever so slightly, making me worried about DD smoshing her face against the side and not being able to breathe. We called the brands customer service line and they said this was normal. If we use a blanket to Swaddle her or our halo I’m worried she would roll and not be able to move. So we have been holding her for naps or co sleeping in our bed.
I was looking at the Love to dream Swaddle because it seems like with the hands up she wouldn’t be able to roll... or spend way more money on the Dock a tot for co sleeping.
This baby is way more chill than DD1, who we bed shared for 8 months and couldn’t put down for naps until we sleep trained at that 8 month period. I’m really trying to avoid that same situation.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!

We bedshare here at night too so not much help there. But during the day DS naps in a Moses basket bassinet. I keep it near me because it has non breathable sides and DS is a wiggler/mover. Could you do something similar with the bassinet and just keep it near you to keep an eye on baby?

I use the Love to Dream swaddle and he sleeps in the Dock a tot (though in his crib) and that combination works great for us. I would agree that I think that swaddle would keep her from rolling over, if you think she would sleep just as good with her hands up. I know some babies prefer it and some don't. About the DAT - I feel like this could be a good option without risking the "lasting" effects of extended bed sharing because even though the baby is in your bed, they are in their own little space instead of right next to you. Does that make sense? So I think it would make the transition of stopping bed sharing easier.
From what you've said, I'd buy the swaddle first just for financial reasons, to see if it worked. If not, you may want to try the DAT. I will say that I found a BST Facebook page for the DAT that usually has pretty good deals. And I know I've said it before but you can use the first time subscribers BBB coupon to get 20% off the DAT on their website too.
I hope all of this makes sense and I hope you find a solution soon.

doodlemommy I think that would work during the day for naps but it’s night time that has me worried when I can’t keep an eye. Bedsharing works for me now, I love just being able to pull the boob out to nurse but my H will not be on board with another kid in our bed for an extended period of time.

thatgirlrachel I was thinking along that way, get the swaddle and see if it works, if it does great, if not proceed to plan B. Good to know about the 20% off if I do end up with the DAT.

I don’t think bed sharing with a newborn automatically means it will end up being an extended period of time. We bedshared with DD initially too, moved her to the playpen beside our bed and then into the crib in her own room at 8/9 months once she wasn’t eating as frequently at night. So it is possible! Hoping for the same this go around with DS

Maybe I’m overthinking this whole situation and should just do whatever works.. until it doesn’t.

+1 to what thatgirlrachel said about the DAT. We love it - total lifesaver for us.
