I think we're finding out this time and only because we want to prep our 4 year old in the event she gets another brother rather than the sister she has said she wants.
Our last 2 were team green (I let my husband decide since it's like the ONLY decision he gets to make during pregnancy) so we'll see if he changes his mind and goes back to green.

Possibly green but I’m leaning toward finding out so we can tell DS (2.5)

I wanted to be green, then pink, then green, but NIPT says we're team blue again.

I just realized that I have one of the first due dates, but I’ll probably be the last one to find out the sex of my baby (of those finding out) because we didn’t do NIPT.

Congrats on being team blue numbears and @riscaboobs !! I was wondering why you said you had to wait another 5weeks budders. Is there a reason why no NIPT? As an anecdote, my $11,000 bill went down to $25 with C so it might be good to still do it if you are not too far along 😊

There's no guarantee we would be able to get the cost lowered, so it's not worth it for us.

My insurance won’t cover since I have no risk factors and I’m under 35, and the cost isn’t worth it to me since we have no reason to suspect genetic concerns beyond the ones my insurance did cover testing for.

I then called the lab and said that’s way too much can’t pay and they said how about $25, is that ok? Super weird.

So fun to see what everyone is having! I will be resurrecting this thread in about a month - we are team finding out, but I won't be doing the NIPT draw till the last week of November. And yeah, insurance covering NIPT is one of the few perks of being AMA.

A lot of the companies have payment plans or offer payment assistance for those who can't pay. They realize that unless the insurance companies cover it, they're kind of screwed and would rather get some money than go through having to track you down etc etc. It's worth calling around to see what kind of assistance each one offers.

I am thinking the test costs way less than what they are charging the insurance so if they get more than the real cost through insurance they only make you pay a small fee.

I didn't look into it this much because it didn't matter enough to me to have it done based on our risk factors.

In my lab, just for the array to run the sample on was at very least several hundred dollars. The reagents were a couple hundred too. We covered a huge amount of DNA though and not just t21, t18, t13, etc.
