Tell me why a TN is so amazing? They look sloppy to me and I just cannot see the appeal.

I don't think they are for you, then.
They are not for me either, but my brother loves the system. It's all about what works for you. I'm a ring-bound 2-page-per-day kind of person, with ability to add extra pages to manage all aspects of my life. Others prefer disc-based or spiral bound 2-page-per-week planner. Others are into the bullet journal thing.
It's great there are choices and if one person doesn't get the appeal of a particular system, then it's not the system for them to use to manage their lives.

I really can't tell you. I have ladies in my planner groups that have them and made them look cute but told me they don't use them yet for anything so I don't know.

I get that- but I don’t think I understand them on even a basic level. I don’t know what it is.

I get that- but I don’t think I understand them on even a basic level. I don’t know what it is. The system my brother uses are bound notebook-style planners. He uses a monthly view and a weekly view as well as a lined notebook and a grid notebook for notes & a journal. His boyfriend uses the grid notebooks for bullet-journal style day planning, as well as multiple blank ones for drawing and brainstorming (he's a designer for a well-known jewelry bead company). I know they like them because they are easy to move about and change what you carry, and they are flexible so they can be crammed in messenger bags or backpacks easier than a more structured planner. These are the ones they use: Traveler's NotebooksI did a quick google search for information beyond the set-ups the people I know use, and I found a ton of blogs and YouTube Videos with set-ups and information.

This post sent me on a google quest. This was the most helpful video I found. The woman is walking through the set up of hers and how to set it up and I feel like I finally understand how it works/ the “system” although I don’t think it’s for me. It is nice that you can constantly rearrange things and add more, but I am switching back to an EC after switching to an A5 binder because I just realized I preferred the EC and note books combination to trying to have it all in one place...

I recently switched to a TN since they’ve become so popular and it seemed like it would work well for me. Previously I was bullet journaling in a Leuchtturm.
They are completely customizable. Some look sloppy or a bit cluttered to me but that’s just based on how the person has theirs setup or decorated. It’s totally not necessary.
I like how I can customize the inserts I have and change them out. Currently I have a dot grid book for my dailies, a 18 month calendar book, meal planning, shopping list, and another dot grid for my collections. I do have a few dashboards to add some color as my notebooks are all either white or tan. But the dashboards just holding scrapbook paper. Some people like to really embellish theirs. I like a more simple design. If I get bored of a notebook or its no longer working for me, it’s super easy and not very expensive to change out to a different notebook (most are around $5-6 or so).
I also switched because I found it easier to find something in the book with the separate sections than in my bullet journal where things weren’t separated.

Whelp, I just found exactly what I need. This seems like an alternative to my current situation, where I carry around a bunch of moelskine type notebooks...
Down the rabbit hole.

I'm currently doing a bullet journal in a lechturm, but could see this being more effective for me. I like the idea of having individual books temporarily bound together for different sections for me. I'm not fond of other planner primarily because I only need a monthly calendar and then I like other pages for budgeting, random notes, family memories, and I don't tend to make things very pretty. This seems right up my alley.

jewel this video made me laugh. Helpful on understanding the system for sure, but her TN caused me stress just looking at it lol. So many pages!
