I finished it Halloween night and really enjoyed it. I think Steve is my favorite character so now I have to hate Nancy lol.
I'm going to try and watch the follow up thing and see what it's about.
A couple things bugged me because I just didn't understand or feel like it all added up but that usually happens for me with sci-fi so I have learned to move on lol.

I didn't watch the follow up because I hate that shit. Talking Dead used to be ok, but then it got out of hand when it started being an hour long. Then when they did the premiere in a cemetery, I was out.
The final nail in the coffin for follow up talk shows was when Kurt Sutter did one for Sons of Anarchy. Too far. I find them all very indulgent and it takes away the magic of the show for me.

Spoiler below:
Anyone else annoyed that they opened the season with the whole shadow monster thing and that it never really comes into play, and ends up being the teaser for season 3? Also all the dead bodies at the lab don't seem to be acknowledged at all in the denouement.

At least that was my understanding of it, I feel like the shadow monster needs a host to exist outside of the upside down - at least until the its web of tunnels/control spreads far enough to flip the balance on its favor. Otherwise it would have just come out and killed El and Hopper while she was closing the gate.

We finished it on Halloween but I only just now had time to comment. I don't think this season was as good as the last. {Spoiler} Bob was this season's Barb, aka the sacrificial character. The morse code thing was trying to be this season's christmas light wall but it just wasn't as cool. I love Steve. He went from not good enough for Nancy to too good for Nancy. I'm sad he got his ass kicked, but he is by far my favorite character this season. I cried when all the girls rejected Dustin at the dance. I really didn't like the episode where El went to Chicago. I get why it's important for her character, but it was kind of embarrassing and didn't really fit. I feel like that episode opened the possibility up for more number characters and I really hope the show doesn't turn into like X Men or something. That would be pretty lame. I didn't like Max's family. It felt like the only point of them was to provide a love interest for the boys and a rival for Steve.

We finished this weekend and started watching Beyond Stranger Things. I didn't watch season 1, but MH was obsessed and roped me in to watch this one. He filled me in, I read online recaps, we watched the S1 trailer and the season recap so I feel like I got the gist. I may go back and watch S1 though just because I didn't want this season to end and I'm sad it's over.
I don't know how to spoiler so I won't say much. But I love Steve, a lot. I also loved Dusty, I could see how he could be annoying but IDK, I liked him. I do not care for Michael or Jonathan, they are just meh to me. I also love Paul Reiser in general and was kind of glad how his storyline played out. And really love the dynamic between El and Hopper.
I didn't like the scenes in Chicago or any of those characters.
Max's stepbrother is just the worst. I hope to not see him next season.

Eta. Maybe spoilers??
I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't like the Chicago episode. It was so random and boring.

Eta. Maybe spoilers?? I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't like the Chicago episode. It was so random and boring. It was very strange to introduce such an important seeming character and then just dismiss her. I appreciate the personal growth was important for El so she could make her own choice to return/help, but this felt very excessive. One of the very very few missteps for me this season.

It wasn't until I read this that I realized who Paul Reiser played. I saw his names in the credits and couldn't place him. Thought maybe it was some other dude with the same name because I'm just used to 90s version Paul Reiser. Time marches on.

Overall I really enjoyed it even if it wasn't as good as the first (didn't expect it to be). Everyone involved has done a great job of creating nostalgia and characters you really care about.
+ another to being amused at the Billy and Mike's mom scene. And plus whatever for Billy being the only character I despised.
I also was meh on the Chicago scenes. I didn't mind El finally leaving Hawkins (girl deserved a chance to finally leave the cage she's been in all her life) and I like that it was to meet her mom (nice continuation from last season) and sister, but I think they could have taken a different direction of how it played out with meeting her sister. I loved her walking back in like a boss though.

Overall I enjoyed this season. Probably less than the first, but still pretty good. I HATED the Chicago episode. All of 008’s friends were basically caricatures and just horribly written.
I love Steve, and Dustin! Gotta use the Farrah Fawcet spray lol.

Did you see the Science Museum had sold over $600,000 dollars worth of this in 3 days? Thats over half of their yearly shop sales!

We just finished. I too enjoy Steve. I did not care for the detour with El's sister. It seemed really extraneous and sensationalized to me. I hated that episode and wish they'd done the sister character differently. I didn't like the conspiracy theory dude either.
My heart broke so so hard for Dustin in the last episode. I'm glad Nancy saved him.

I hated the Chicago episode. I hope they don’t have Kali show up on Hawkins in season 3.

I started Sat and finished yesterday. I enjoyed it. I think the reason why Season 1 seemed better was because of all the stuff you didn't know. Now you know about 11, the lab, the upside down etc.
Anyway, I was ok with it.
RIP Bob
I LOL'd about all the things about Barbara since she took off on social media.

We finished it in less than 24 hours. Just like season 1. So good! DH and I both thought there were 13 episodes so we were doubly crushed when it ended.

I hated the Chicago episode. I hope they don’t have Kali show up on Hawkins in season 3. I really think they only included that episode for future season/spin off potential. I know it was framed as Eleven figuring out her powers but that could have been accomplished in much simpler and shorter ways.

We finished last night. I like how unique the story is - the upside down, whatever the hell El can do, etc. But, some of the ways the story plays out are straight out of other stories - ie. Jurassic Park. I mean, I was laughing when Bob was turning the power on because that whole sequence was painfully unoriginal. But, alas - that's how things are these days.
I love Hopper and El. I enjoy Steve (after being such a dick in the first season). I thought for sure that Bob was more than he appeared after his chat with Will in the car earlier in the season but no! The school dance ending was perfect for me.
I'm curious about next season.

I finished it a couple of days ago. I thought it was pretty good and I really loved Steve and Dustin together.
I'm still really confused though. Like, the upside down is trying to take over the real world? Where did those dog things come from? Why was the lab trying to open a portal thingy?
