One of the things I hate about pregnancy is the food to avoid list. I seriously LOVE deli lunch meats--turkey, ham, salami, etc. And even though I may not eat it THAT often, the fact is that I should avoid it makes me want it a 100% more. I seriously was ready to steal a co-workers salami, provolone cheese and mustard sandwich the other day!
When I delivered our daughter, the first thing I had DH get me was a turkey sandwich from wawa. I honestly think that will be the case again.

Sushi. For Christmas last year, I gave my dad a hand-made certificate for a sushi dinner of his choice. We haven't gone yet (he keeps asking me where we are going and when, and I would always tell him he had to decide that). Now we have to wait about 7 more months Last pregnancy it was deli meats. Whenever we would have them (which wasn't often), I would heat it in the microwave but it never tasted the same.

I honestly avoided none of the things last time. Almost all of the Listeria recalls during that pregnancy were for vegetables. So it's weird this time since there are things in my contact I have to avoid. But I don't mind doing it, these portion are vacay entrusting a stranger to carry their baby, I'll avoid any foods that make them feel more comfortable.
The soft cheeses are the hardest for me so far. H was talking about going to a nice local restaurant, but I told him not while I'm pregnant as they make amazing cheese and I want to eat it!

*shrug* My OB told me during my oldest's pregnancy that he'd more worried about my buying spinach or bean sprouts from the grocery store or getting frozen yogurt in terms of listeria than he would be over my eating sushi or lunchmeat. We don't really eat either often. I mean, I would eat sushi daily, but carbs and whatnot. Moderation and all that.
I more so avoid things that I've gotten sick on, so a big one is vanilla yogurt, which is annoying since non-pregnant me eats a tub or so a week with berries, oats, or whatever. Now the thought turns my stomach. Dairy also irritates my stomach, not in a lactose intolerant way, but in a my stomach is so acidy, it feels like it curdles as soon as it hits it.
EDIT: I do avoid alcohol, because duh. Which really sucks now that cold & flu season is coming, and I just really want a hot toddy before bed sometimes.

I’m avoiding lunch meat mostly because it makes me ill thinking about it. I’m also avoiding raw sushi because that seems like a pretty safe bet. I’ve eaten a lot of California rolls recently though. I won’t drink at all during the pregnancy, but I’m not really a drinker in general so it’s not like I miss it much.
I’ve eaten hot dogs even though we’re not supposed to. I mostly use my judgment and what seems safe, and go with that.

I don’t really completely cut out anything when I’m pregnant, other than obviously nausea-related stuff. I do stop using Splenda in my coffee, which currently is a non-issue since I can’t stomach the stuff, but I’ll have some Diet Coke here and there. I eat raw sushi from reputable places. Meats is a non-issue since I’m a pescatarian. And I guess I don’t eat unpasteurized dairy if I can avoid it but I’m not super on top of asking about in restaurants or anything. I will have a few sips of wine or a small glass every so often, if I can ever stomach it.

I’m in the land of unpasteurized everything and it sucks because I love it all. I’m avoiding runny raw milk cheeses, most charcuterie, alcohol and raw seafood. Basically my favorite things 😫

They’re on the list that my OB hands out, but even they tell us to just use your judgment and everything in moderation.

My OB told me to avoid the hot dogs with nitrates. But she said lunch meats were ok if toasted (like a delicious toasted hoagie sandwich that I want right now).
Also, the only sushi we get is the tempura roll so we're good there!

Uh, alcohol. Mostly. I might take a sip of whatever H has on occasion but currently it's all gross to me. I know last time I had half a glass at my MILs big business dinner kickoff. I might so the same at H's holiday party.
I've had sushi from a place I highly trust once. I'll mostly avoid that.
I've totally had lunch meat and hot dogs. But I get my son nitrate free ones so... that's better? I do try to avoid the lunch meat. I had multiple people bring me sandwiches while in the hospital after DS was born. There's an amaaaazing sandwich shop in my area and I miss it already.
I really like runny eggs and missed them a lot last time.

Probably sushi, but I'm kind of grossed out by it when I'm pregnant anyway. I eat SOME lunch meat, but not a lot. Also, alcohol, but since I am out of 1st tri, I will be having a very small glass tomorrow when we are having a family get-together. Oh and jessila, I still eat runny eggs. I love them too much.

Pizzaslut, I think last time I started eating them again in 3rd tri. I'm also bad about steak. I'll eat it cooked to medium, maybe medium well. I figure that pregnant women have been eating meat for thousands/millions of years and I'll be okay. Currently, eww to steak.

My OB didn’t prohibit any foods last time other than not too much deep sea fish (and I don’t eat fish so not a worry). I’ve got a half gallon of blue bell ice cream in my freezer & I feel like that’s riskier than quality deli meat.

I feel like a home made sushi night might be on the cards soon. I heard it’s the rice that is risky, so if I make my own fresh it ought to be safe. Yum, I could drink soy sauce as my lunch.

The only thing I really avoided last pregnancy was sprouts and I plan to keep it that way. I was puking for 9 months and my midwife was basically "if it sounds good, eat it". With DS we travelled around Italy when I was 7 months, you better believe I ate all the cheese, meat, and had a little wine.

I wonder why the rice would be risky? Cross contamination? H and I always do homemade sushi on Christmas Eve, it's so much cheaper to do it yourself and then you can eat waaaay too much

I'm just finishing up the last of the huge round of brie MH bought me and then I'm off of soft cheese, boo, since that's my favorite. Alcohol, obviously, which sucks because my annual Halloween party is tomorrow and I always drink at it. Plus I have half a bottle of apple wine in my fridge from my parents visit. I don't really eat hot dogs or deli meat, and having sushi is super rare for me these days. I probably won't change my diet much, since pretty much every thing I eat now is in the safe zone.

I don’t completely avoid much food wise. I’ll still eat deli meat, runny eggs, medium-rare steak etc., but in moderation and I try to be sensible about it in terms of making sure everything’s fresh and prepared safely.
This time, like last time, it’s been easy to completely avoid alcohol because pregnancy makes me feel mildly hungover all of the time. Just the thought of alcohol makes me nauseous.
