Hi ladies! Longtime lurker with a question - would you pronounce Jeanne as Jean or Jean-e? BTN has it as Jean, but I know two Jeanne's IRL that pronounce it as Jean-e.

I first think the French pronunciation since it's on our list, but with English speakers, I assume Jean/"jeen".

Does Jean-e = Jeeeen? Jean has a totally different sound because French. I would say Jeanne like the pants 👖

Sorry, should have clarified - this would be the English pronunciation, not French.

My first thought would also be the French pronunciation, but in English I would assume it was "Jean."

Well, I always think it's going to just be "Jean", but every Jeanne I've ever known has said it "Jean-E". So... shruggy guy.

Thanks for the feedback! The reason I'm asking is because I want to use it as a middle name. It's my mom's middle name, and she pronounces it Jean-e, but I want to pronounce it Jean. But I want to use the Jeanne spelling since that's how my mom's is spelled.

I've known a couple of Jean-ee's -- acquaintances in high school & college.
It's a family name for me and in my family, the French pronunciation of Zhahn far more common.
