To clarify, "The Legend" are full-sized (or larger!) bars.

I think I’m the trusty provider!
We aren’t going to even buy candy this year, though. We live on a small loop with a bunch of retirees and I don’t remember having a single trick-or-treater last year. Plus, we will likely take DS out to a nearby neighborhood & not be home to answer the door.
I really love those strawberry candies that are shown as part of “The Psychopath” lol.

I guess we're "legends" because we buy full size chocolate bars. But we hardly get any kids so...
I inherited this tradition from my parents. They've always done full size bars and they get lots of kids every year.

Trusty Provider. I feel like so many people give out chocolate that I always try to get something like Skittles or Starbust - but always the fun size and everyone gets at least two, more later in the night.

We don’t get trick or treaters at our house now. We used to be legends because we got very few ToTers, so I would buy full sized candy bars to make it worth their while. It was awesome seeing their faces light up when they saw the selection.

Bc that's the leftover candy I want to eat.

Partypooper as of this year. We aren’t really big into Halloween. We will be in a new neighborhood so I hope we don’t egged!

I’ve always been a trusty provider mixed with cheapy... I don’t mind some tootsie rolls and smarties.
Last year (first in our new house) we only got approximately 6 ToTers. So this year A and I will both go out with the kids, and keep the house dark.
Then, when we get home, I think we may be The Legends! Maybe with some trusty provider backup (and non-food treats, as always).

I'm Trusty McCheapface because I love Smarties and dum-dums, too. And this is the first year we'll be in our neighborhood since R was 2, so I did a little Teal Pumpkin non-food items, too.

We have hours for Halloween and I've never before been off to be at home during those hours because I normally end up working. I think I may go pick up a dozen or so full size candy bars just in case, but I really don't think I'll get any kids. I live in kind of a "bad" neighborhood, and people normally bring their kids to the "good" neighborhoods

I've never lived in a place where we got TOTers except for in college when our apartment complex did a trunk or treat thing and one of my roommates participated. Our church used to do a big fall fest that we participated in but they stopped doing it so now we don't really do halloween.

So many people with few or 0 trick or treaters! This is our first Halloween in the new house and our neighbors told us to be prepared for about 200 kids!

Well, probably 100. We only moved a mile away, but now we live across a (busyish) street from a neighborhood with a million kids. I think they just don’t bother crossing the street.

Trusty Provider.
Or the psychopath, but I'm only buying candy corn for myself. That's probably a UO.
We had an elderly neighbour growing up who used to give pencils and erasers.

There's nothing worse than getting little packages of raisins in your bag 😒

To be fair, those strawberry hard candies are the bomb (in my memory).

We don’t get ToTers here, so we’ll take the kids to the downtown shop ToT. DH used to get Canadian Halloween candy for his old place. So he was a Canadian Trusty Provider?
But on a side note, I love me some Necco wafers.

I also love NECCO wafers. But the fresh ones. Don’t give me those stale ones that break into shards after you apply so much pressure with your teeth, you’re afraid to bite your tongue.

Isn't that all of them? Maybe I've never had a fresh one. It would be amazing if all the NECCO hate was just stale wafers. I used to get mine at my neighborhood pharmacy that was known for their amazing candy selection, so they probably had good turnover. I’ve only had a few stale ones and they were sad. Suckable but sad.

Ok, real talk. What's the etiquette on trick or treating if you don't have a "neighborhood"? It's totally rude to crash another neighborhood's ToT night, right? Because you aren't contributing any candy to the crowd? Or is it not rude and totally normal? We don't have a neighborhood because, sticks, but I would hate for my kids to miss out on that experience. There is a trunk or treat a couple towns over we might do but the timing isn't great for that event. What say you?
Actually, nevermind. I'm going to start a new thread with a poll.

That seemed a little... different.

I'm hoping as the kids get older they'll make friends who live in neighborhoods and then it will be NBD but for now MH and I were very conflicted about what to do.

I guess we're trusty providers, but I like to throw in some of my favorites, like Fun Dip, Nerds and gummies, and I usually go to JoAnn or Michaels and buy some packs of glow bracelets (they're like 25 for $1) to give out, too. I started doing that years ago and the kids always get excited about them, plus it's something for kids with allergies. We get a ton of kids in this neighborhood, so I get a big variety. Last year a few people on my street gave out full size bars or movie theater boxes! Although with an almost one year old, I loved that some of the houses had animal crackers or goldfish on had for the littles.
Also, I love Smarties and Bottle Caps and all the weird chalky candy (Necco wafers included, although I don't think I've ever gotten them ToTing). I wouldn't give them out, but I am looking forward to going through Nugget's bucket to find some... I also love valentine's conversation hearts, specifically the old school flavors that you can only buy online.
