Since we're only a couple months out from Christmas and birthdays are around the corner, let's share gift ideas! The grandparents are already asking for ideas and I'm sure a lot of us are struggling with ideas since baby #1 has alllllll the toys haha.

Here are the few things I've thought of so far for M:
Baby Stella Shopping cart CamelBak water bottle
She and DS are getting the IKEA kitchen + food as their big Christmas gift.

I'm aiming for alllllll the memberships because they don't really need anything. But gift giving is my inlaws love language so they will get the memberships and still get the kids actual presents to open and play with. FWP, I know. For the little all I have are some books with a female lead character. I like the camelback idea carrots. I love the ones I have for ds. For the big I'm starting a list of craft supplies, sticker books, etc. Am I allowed to put lame things on the list for the 2.5 year old? My mom gave me a nice twin down comforter for his bed but the duvet colors are awful and don't go with his room (a garish blue, green, and pink striped pattern). So I want to get a new one 😂

+1 to a play kitchen or water table if you don't have one. I love our IKEA play kitchen. We have a mix of Hape and Melissa&Doug wooden food. Ds loves practicing his knife skills on the Velcro fruit and veggies that you can slice.

Yes Lakes! Grandparents around here want a reaction when the gift is opened and aren't as interested in buying memberships 🙄 That would definitely be my preference! I have Chelsea Clintons book She Persisted on my list to get for M. Definitely getting some of the Velcro cutting foods. DS is going to love those!

I'm struggling with gift ideas, and also suffering from major first world problems. DD1 has so much stuff. So many toys / crafts that she's never touched. So, I just want DD2 to have all of that stuff.
I really don't want more "things" in our house, but people won't accept that when they as about gift ideas...

I'm with you judyblume14! I'm also struggling with thinking ahead. Since these babies birthdays and Christmas are close together, I'm trying to think of what she will want at 18 months so I can space out playing with the gifts over the year.

I got E a pottery barn anywhere chair and an activity cube for her bday. No idea on Christmas gifts. I got a promotion in the mail for highlights they have a set for 0-2 but she may be too young still. I considered getting her a kitchen set for Xmas but I wonder if it will be a better gift next bday.

I think 2 is the perfect age for a kitchen peaseblossom55! We didn't get DS one for his birthday and wished we had which is why it's coming for Christmas (he'll be 2.5). Even though it's M's gift too, I doubt she'll be that into it for a while. I just don't have any other ideas for gifts for her and she certainly doesn't need anything else!

This reminds me, my grandma got ds a subscription to Ranger Rick Jr last year for Christmas and he LOVES it. He does a little happy dance when I tell him he has mail and sits right now with it to "read" it. He was 1.5 years when it started so E isn't that young for it. Even if she doesn't get it for the first couple month I'd recommend it. I prefer Ranger Rick Jr because it's all beautiful animal pictures. It really grabs his attention. They do have an even younger level but I haven't checked it out.

Y'all probably remember we got an IKEA kitchen for dd last Christmas. R loves it! Obviously he doesn't play kitchen with it but he loves to stand at it and open and close the cabinets. So our babies might not be too young!

We are very much asking memberships this year. We have a botanical garden on the bay that has a neat kids area. I'm also kind of thinking about asking for swim lessons for dd and possibly R as well. Dd has become a destroyer of all board books so I will suggest those because poor R will have none passed on to him. We are overwhelmed with toys so I'm really hoping to discourage more clutter coming into our home.

I'm considering/saving for later since some are more wordy: She Persisted Paper Bag Princess Dangerously Ever After Rosie Revere, Engineer Ada Twist, Scientist And a bajillion other ones Amazon keeps recommending. I'm in the ooooo that looks interesting, let's click on it mood.

Ohh good picks Lakes! H and I went to an engineering school so Rosie Revere is a regular book gift in our circle but M doesn't have it. And I've already got She Persisted on my list too. Love the tough girl books! 💪🏼💪🏼

If anybody is on the hunt for a big gift, my parents got this for DS for his first Christmas. I was mildly horrified but it ended up getting a ton of use. We just pulled it back out for M and both kids are loving it. It's on Zulily right now.

Have we mentioned a play tunnel yet? The kids are getting a lot of mileage out of it. It was a Christmas present for ds when he was 6 months. He's 2.5 and still loves it. Him and dd are chasing each other through it right now and it's adorable.
I have the Pacific brand tunnel and it looks brand new two years later. I love that it folds right up and I slide it right under a chair for storage. Perfect to break out in cold or rainy days! There's also a matching tent that we don't have.

I just realized that I need older toys for dd since both her gift giving holidays are at the same time. Christmas and ds' birthday are almost 6 months apart so it works out for the next stage toys. Not that she really needs anything with the hand me down toys but to be fair and all. I'm thinking a wooden tea set to match the play kitchen stuff.

It seems like so much pressure! I might actually get her birthday gifts whereas for DS we always let everybody else give him too much shit and buy him 1 small present from us.

I feel kind of burned out already and am worried I'm going to short change dd on her party.
