I know there's only a few of us at this point but lord knows I need to do something to avoid falling asleep feeding this kid.
He also poops on me while I'm feeding him. Is that normal?
Dh goes back to work tomorrow. I'm gonna miss the help with diapers and making sure I eat. I forgot to eat lunch today :/

It's frustrating because you have to change them after they feed which almost always wakes them up.

Glad this thread was created! Pregsominacs can join us too! grumpycat we have been changing her diaper after feedings, it doesn't seem to wake her up too much yet. GL with your H back at work tomorrow! Will you have your older one with you too? My H are officially goes back tomorrow too but luckily he works from home. His office is our crawl space beneath the house but he is going to work in the main house for the next week or two to make things easier since I still can't drive or lift our toddler.

We also have mid feeding poops. I've been trying to do the diaper change before the feed is over (expressed milk/formula here) so that there's hopefully a chance of going to sleep.

Also, I think my girls have some confusion- I struggle all day to get them to eat and then at night,'they want all the food.
I went to bed early and DH brought the girls up after a last feed. This should have meant that I got 3 hours of sleep, but E wanted more to eat/was fussy. And something woke DS up, and his crying woke me up at 2. I can't pick him up. Somehow DH got DS back to sleep- he's a miracle worker!

MOTN?
It's 8am 😉
Haha. I'm looking forward to the night time feeds when E comes back to me, I find it so peaceful and a bonding time
(Only for a couple of months and then it's like no baby sleep)

bethers W was much more awake at night than day at first too. I think now at two weeks it is about the same for day and night. Next step is to get her sleepier at night!. beefinch I know what you mean about night time feeds. It seems like any feed back even midnight I really struggle, but the feeds between midnight and 5 am I can handle better and I like the time with just us

Just got ds2 to briefly take a pacifier instead of using my boob as one. He pulls off when I have a let down and it's messy lol. I let him comfort suck a decent amount still but it's hard at night when he's clusterfeeding.
It's raining so I hope the white noise will help him sleep. We shall see.

DS is clearly a master manipulator. Every time I put him down so I can sleep, he sounds like he has gas. I pick him up and he won't burp or anything but will instantly fall asleep on my shoulder.
Dude. I need sleep.

My dog just puked in the hallway. Nothing wakes me out of a dead sleep faster then the sounds of retching in the middle of the night. And now I'm wide awake. Cool.

DS has gotten up 6 times in the last 30 mins. I’ve put him back to bed each time and now he’s screaming for milk. Not happening, bro. I just sent DH in to deal with him because I’m done.

How am I going to take care of a newborn when my 3 y.o. doesn’t even STTN?? The 3 year old becomes your H's problem. Do not be a martyr and deal with both. My H can thank his lucky stars that our 2 year old is a rock star sleeper. It's a rare night that she doesn't sleep 10 straight hours. But you bet your ass the nights she doesn't it's all him.

We fed the girls during the football game and then both DH and I dozed off. When we woke up, put together the other MOTN bottles and DS's lunch. I went to sleep. DH couldn't sleep, and of course, when he was ready, it was time to feed the girls. I at least got 2 hrs.
E needs to gain weight- she was having jaundice issues and the doctor wants her to have 2 oz every 2-3 hours. She doesn't like the bottles we had ( avent) versus the ones at hospital (disposable), so I bought other bottles with premie nipples. But still it's hard to get more than 1 oz in per feeding. The only good news is that earlier, she was very awake and took 1 oz per hour for a few hours. But it takes her awhile. We have a weight check Wednesday and I just want her to gain.
Sorry- long early AM rant.

How am I going to take care of a newborn when my 3 y.o. doesn’t even STTN?? This was me when my DD was born. My son wouldn't STTN either. He would scream if my husband tried anything. I would end up nursing DD while sitting in DS' bed hoping he would fall asleep. Thankfully this time around, my DD is usually a good sleeper so I'm hoping it is better.

We finally got DS to eat decently (he is jaundiced a bit so was very lazy and not eating much) and now it's like he's making up for lost time so he's awake aaaaaall the time. Well, not awake per se. Just fussy.

Current mood: how the fuck did I survive this breast engorgement last time? Because I can't sleep, hold the baby, raise my arms, NOTHING. How long does this last again? Right now I'm about ready to say screw pumping, he can have formula.
I'm not going to do that because I really liked pumping last time, but. Ow. They are huge and sore and BRUISED somehow.

Ugh sorry for the sore boobs misskilljoy. Heat? Cold? Something like that? librarylady, that sucks, every 90 mins is too short! I haven't even had my baby yet and I'm up in the middle of the night whining. My hemmoroid is not getting smaller overnight, it's getting bigger. Argh. I fell asleep okay, but am awake now. It hurts. If I can't handle this how do I intend to push out a baby? Also dh isn't feeling well, so I'm on the couch.

Cold compress ... a pack of frozen peas or ice pack. My boobs got their shit together by day 7 or so. It takes a couple days. Pumping now would cause over production. You can self express a bit too for some relief. I found that warm showers made my engorement worse. Eta: if you are going to ep, I had already started by this point. Not sure when you are thinking of starting that.

So it is frustrating.

Not sure when you are thinking of starting that. I am EPing, yeah, so I have to pump. I think that's why it's like this - until my supply balances out, the pump just isn't good enough at emptying them out. Gonna try the ice packs. Heat is only good for getting things flowing, that much I remember.

misskilljoy do you feel like you are emptying out completely when you do pump? I'm not a lactation expert by any means but I would try warm compress and massage when pumping to try to get it all out then cold compress to help reduce the swelling. Sorry you're so engorged- it sounds horrible! Hopefully it regulates out soon!

Sorry you're so engorged- it sounds horrible! Hopefully it regulates out soon! Oh this happened last time too, I remember it I just don't remember how long it lasted. My boobs are... excitable. It's mainly swelling I think, not plugged ducts or anything, because my milk is still just coming in. I've been doing the massage thing as much as I can bear but they're too sore to even have my baby on me which suuucks. Also the massage is how they ended up bruised. XD I now have ice packs stuffed in my shirt so we'll see how that goes, LOL. Cold is supposed to bring swelling down.

misskilljoy sorry for the engorgement. I was pumping the first week after every feed and then quit cold turkey. That was....painful. I know what you mean about not even being able to hold baby. I really hope your boobs get their shit together soon!!

If someone could convince my kid that 2am isn't party time, that would be great. He's been fed, rocked, pacified, nope, still wants to party. Gah. I want to sleep.
