Tell me all the ridiculous, silly, wives tale voodoo you plan to try to knock yourself into labor in the coming weeks.

LOL I am excited to read this. I think I am probably in the minority- I don't really plan on doing anything I wouldn't normally be doing!

Nothing because none of them worked last time.
Sex did work for DS (DTD and then contractions started 3 hours later) but I think it was more coincidental than anything.

Sex. Nipple stimulation. Spicy foods. Excersise ball. The usual.
Weirdest one - Papaya Juice. I don't remember where I read it but I drank it the night before going into labor with ds1. So obvi it worked.

I've promised sex at 38 weeks, but we shall see if we make it (me and baby). DH isn't subtle about wanting to dtd but he knows I'm so not into it. I'll probably pick up walking again and clean aggressively if baby isn't here by 39 weeks.
I didn't do anything with ds other than a membrane sweep at 37w. He was born a few days later.

It was delicious, so I am totally willing to try that experiment again.

I’ll probably try the spicy food and lots of walking. Maybe sex, but that sounds like a lot of work.

I don't really believe in anything but once I get past 36 weeks I won't be as careful about things.
I will get a pedicure with all of the massaging. I got one the Friday before DS was born so I of course, blame that.
I will also eat lasagna if we get to 37 weeks. This is a silly one but both myself and my cousin/BFF has lasagna the night that we went into labor/water broke. Nothing out of the ordinary with the lasagna, not even the same kind, just something about lasagna I guess.
I already eat a ridiculous amount of spicy food so I don't think that would be one that would work for me. My pelvis feels broken 99% of the time so sex is really out of the question too. I know I will be induced around 39 weeks at the latest so since there is an end in sight I don't really see a reason to try to get baby out more than my normal stuff.

I'm no help.
With DS I was laying down in bed watching a movie when my contractions stared. Apparently being lazy works great for me.
Since I'm being induced I'm not trying hard to go into labour, but I have promised H sex at 37 weeks. That's all I plan on doing!

Last time, I had to be induced, so no advice here (although someone I worked with suggested driving over cobblestones). But given these suggestions, I'm thinking of having burgers and lasagna when we get a little closer - unless I opt for the c section (decision to be made later this week)

With DD, I had sex on her due date. And the next day we did tons of walking and I went into labor. Maybe I'll try for the same this time.

I think the only thing I plan on is increasing my walking, particularly once I'm off work. I feel like the weather might get in my way though

Nothing worked for me with either of my kids. Both were 12 days late with inductions. I'll try all the tricks but I really don't think any will work.

I should clarify and also add "deep lunges" to my response, haha.

When is it considered ok to start trying these things? 37 weeks?

When is it considered ok to start trying these things? 37 weeks? 37 weeks is term in the U.K. (Don't know if different in Canada and USA) It's early term, but still 'full' term, midwives encourage us to start labour inducing things from 37 weeks

When is it considered ok to start trying these things? 37 weeks? There's a big push to let baby chill until 39 weeks (at least where I live). That being said, I don't think you should restrict yourself at all if you want to have sex or go for a walk or eat lasagna. ETA: My former OB only did a membrane sweep at 37 weeks because I was going to have DS within the week anyway. Every day counts in utero. According to March of Dimes/AAP: Early term: Your baby is born between 37 weeks, 0 days and 38 weeks, 6 days. Full term: Your baby is born between 39 weeks, 0 days and 40 weeks, 6 days. Late term: Your baby is born between 41 weeks, 0 days and 41 weeks, 6 days. Postterm: Your baby is born after 42 weeks, 0 days.

grumpycat, Gotcha. Thanks! Anecdote: I had dd at 37 weeks 1 day and she was fine. I still want to ask my doctor the protocol for if i go into early labor and don't make my rcs date before I try any of this though. I really don't want some doctor I'm not familiar with doing my csection. That's just my two cents.

I am thinking of possibly doing a membrane sweep (w39) and maybe sex. If I have to be induced, I am okay with that too, I am not sure what all of this going into labor on your own is anyway. Add me to the burger and fries team too.

Watching fixer upper and I’m annoyed that this couple decided that fancy siding for $8800 was going to add more value than a 2nd bathroom and slightly less GIGANTIC master bathroom for $6800. What?!

I might ask my midwife what she thinks about doing a sweep, I see her Friday, and then my scan/consultant meeting is Monday, but the midwife will most likely be booked again for next Friday (and I'll cancel if I have to be induced next week... woah, next week *sweats*)
If I'm booked in for induction the week after next then I'll ask her to a sweep that appointment.
I had 2 sweeps with DS, one at 39ish weeks and then another the day before due date, and I went into labour 2 days after.

I ate lasagna tonight. 😳 but it was made with low carb noodles instead of normal sheets so I'm going to say it doesn't count. I need at least two more days at work.
