Who would you choose and why? This was posted in one of my FB groups and I thought it'd be a good conversation here.

Either Lupin or Tonks, so Teddy isn't an orphan.

Either Lupin or Tonks, so Teddy isn't an orphan. I'm going either Tonks (same reasoning) or Fred. I think Tonks would handle her grief better than Lupin would. And George lost his other half. He's not the same without Fred.

I want to say Lupin or Tonks but it will always be Fred.

Cedric. He was such a good kid and all and was going to make Hufflepuff proud -- was just in the wrong place/wrong time kind of thing. It wasn't fair.
I think Fred would be my second choice.
Do you know how long I sat here and looked at this and pondered it? Too long. Lol

I thought about this for entirely too long. My knee jerk reaction is Hedwig because she's an animal and I hate the way she died.
But I'm going with Fred.

Too long I have thought about this. Too long.
My knee jerk reaction will always be Fred.
Rationally I think I would choose Tonks or Cedric. "Kill the spare" is such a meaningless way to die, I'd want to give Cedric a chance to live a life. Tonks because of Teddy. For a few reasons, but largely I think Tonks would have generally handled losing Lupin better than he would her. Without Tonks, Lupin had the added difficulty of not having had anyone to ground him on his lycanthropy (that he would listen to). I could just see him sending Teddy away during the full moon eating him up inside, and without her to temper it I think it would get out of control.

My immediate reaction is Sirius, because that death ripped my soul out.
I think ultimately, after staring at this long enough, I would probably go with Fred. I can reason away everyone else's death as either necessary or "wouldn't change the narrative much", but his seems like it would have the most impact to the story we got.

Agree with Fred or Tonks, because of previous mentioned reasons.
Although my first gut instinct was for Hedwig and Dobby, because I think they were the purest creatures killed.

I do hate the deaths of Hedwig and Dobby. But Hedwig is an animal vs people (Dobby counts as people too). That keeps me from ever saying she's the death to stop.

Tonks, so Teddy had a parent.
Lavender Brown...she was a silly little thing, but she was brave and fought and she was savaged to death by a werewolf. That might be the worst death in the books.

I mentioned Lavender to a friend and her response was "no one cares about Lavender." Poor Lav-lav. This meme certainly doesn't contain all the deaths in HP. There's no place for Moody or Colin Creevy or Ted Tonks or any of the other nameless casualties.

I was convinced that Hagrid was going to bite the big one. It seemed like every parental figure in Harry's life (parents, Dumbledore, Sirius) had died so I had my money on Hagrid.
I was very happy to be wrong though!

I saw this on Facebook and after a LOOOONG deliberation, I chose Lupin. For Teddy and so Harry could have one of his father figures that knew his parents well.
