Holy shit. My SIL sells YL. I wonder if she knows about this. I came across it on FB. I have a few friends that sell it, but I haven't asked them their thoughts yet.

I use a tea tree acne roller and a cap full in my cloth diaper loads. It really helps keep the funk down.
Other than that, just a few drops in homemade lotions.

I like sweet citrus or sweet orange for happy smells around the house.

I diffuse peppermint and grapefruit because they smell nice, and I add them + tea tree to my vinegar cleaning spray for the same reason. I do not believe for one second they do anything more than smell nice. This is what I'm hoping for. I mean, I think certain scents can be relaxing or whatever, but I'm not trying to use EOs for the norovirus.

I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it for me to buy a diffuser with a toddler/newborn/dogs. I'm not planning to do it in the kid's room, prob just my room and/or common areas. I'm seeing diffusing is fine. Can anyone confirm?

Would pay to avoid that.

DD (2) has never tried to pull it down from the counter or pull on the plug, but she has also never really been that kid either. Anyway we've had no issues with our dog or DD. I think there are some oils that bother pets though.

I bought a new diffuser yesterday because of this thread. Also, a new kit with more oils for experimentation. Cher, I was talking to my MD friend yesterday about this thread and she said that she felt completely comfortable using EOs to diffuse around her kids. She said she would be more concerned about topical application but diffusing is fine. I trust her advice, so we will continue with our normal routine. (I am not treating medical conditions with EOs, just diffusing them for ambience and smell, although I am not above using scents I already have for targeting potential issues. I like the headache blend for scent, but I'll make a point of using it if I have a headache bc why not.)

I have never used essential oils as a topical application. I only diffuse it and put some on my wool dryer balls and what not. Story time: My SIL and her husband are all into using EO for all that ails you. A few months ago their toddler (about 1 year old) got in the cabinet where they keep all the oils and rubbed straight oregano all over his face and mouth. They had to have the ambulance come and take him to the hospital. Everything was fine, but it was super scary. He got swollen and weezy and a little burned. Just lock that stuff up high and tight.
