The NFL is no longer tax-exempt so WTF is POTUS talking about?
"Billions of dollars of taxpayer dollars continue to fund the construction and renovation of professional football stadiums."

Peter Alexander asking about the Pence stunt.
"The VP was invited and he attended that game, and I think it's always appropriate for the leaders of our country to stand up for the national anthem, to stand up for our flag, and to stand up for the men and women who died for it."

It was appropriate for VP to go to game and to stand up
and then to leave.

I got in a little argument with a coworker this morning about whether or not it is acceptable for people to be like "I don't really like politics, so I just stay out of it." This came up because of a couple of young, progressive coworkers who live in Ohio and Kentucky but DO NOT VOTE because they're like, "eh, politics isn't for me." I find that completely unacceptable and as has been noted here before, the height of white privilege to shut their eyes to the state of things because it doesn't affect them (yet). This other person believes that a lot of people just don't like politics and that's ok. I need to get better at arguing. At a certain point I get really frustrated and then mad, and that certainly doesn't help my case. I'm sure this person went about the rest of her day, and I'm sitting here still annoyed. :sigh: What's worse is that it's not even always self preservation, it's often total ignorance and/or indifference. As Mr. Ditka just so helpfully illustrated, there are actually Americans who think racism is a thing of the past.

Most capital improvement projects have some City/State/Federal funding but to insist that everyone who enters a building that used those funds 'salute' or respect is something you see in NORTH KOREA. Plus those projects generally bring jobs to the area, a new stadium will employ vendors, janitors, caretakers not to mention additional revenue

Every day I'm amazed at how far this administration is willing to bend shit to suit their narrative. I know it happens all the time but the blatant lies that come out and the people believing it still amaze me.
Like blaming congress for being on vacation when he has spent 9/10 weekends golfing at tax payer expense, justifying a publicity stunt. And people just roll over and accept it. And each thing that is more and more outrageous it makes the minute things like Mittens Binders of Women seem quaint when it was JUST as bad.

They are willing to work with anyone who wants to be part of the solution and not the problem and who want to better the american people. thats.... something I'm quoting myself because I have feelings on her saying "they want to better the american people" This is REALLY rubbing me the wrong way and I can't put my finger on it. I dont need to be 'bettered', at least not by the feds. And I would try to give her the benefit of the doubt that it was a misspeak and she meant I dont think so.

It's the "American carnage" rhetoric striking again. The poor pathetic working class Americans have had their lives ruined by Obummer and the Democrats and only Trump can rub the coal dust from their eyes and bring them to the light and help them realize their dream of his and hers F-350's with satnav. It's disingenuous and insulting.

see, he's good at this! He's doing fine and he likes this! If this were the UK and he could be a ceremonial head of state and just go to ribbon cuttings but not actually affect policy, he might be ok. Unfortunately, this is not a Constitutional Monarchy

"The VP was invited and he attended that game, and I think it's always appropriate for the leaders of our country to stand up for the national anthem, to stand up for our flag, and to stand up for the men and women who died for it." Is that a question? no, sorry, the question was whether it was appropriate for VP to use taxpayer funds to engage in a political stunt.
