Last night I was admitted bc I had some bleeding. My MFM was on call and like me, thought it was just from the cervix check the day before. It was only a little pink on my panty liner but told me if it turns red come to L&D. Hour later it did. Long story short, baby looks fine, no idea what the bleeding is from, which is concerning them. They may decide to keep me here until I hit 37 weeks and induce me. So I'll probably be locked up in the hospital for the next week. Ugh, just ugh. My body and this kid doesn't realize I have shit to do bf he comes!?! Oh my. Hopefully they figure it out! Will think good thoughts for you and LO.

Just reading and love titing here. Ready to bust out of the hospital and hopefully will be able to late this afternoon. DD2 has definetly “woke up” from the sleepy newborn stage and now wants to eat and be held all the time. We’re all a little sleepy here but luckily between H, my mom, and soon my Grandma someone will be here during the coming days at home to hold her or whatever while I sleep a bit. Night times I’m pretty much solo since nursing and all as H is back to work already. He’s really good about helping when I ask but short maybe changing diapers or helping rock/bounce/whatever her back to sleep - I usually try to let him get some since he has to work. *rant - H is allowed 3 paid days off as a teacher here and then must return or take the other days unpaid (this would apply no matter what kind of birth and no matter if DD2 needed NICU time or not). The US needs to get its parental leave act together! 3 days paid (his sick days) is a bit ridiculous though thankfully we have the family support to make this kind of ridiculous work. Here fuckin' here. Neither of our employers (and mine is federally funded!) offer paid leave (I will get STD pay for part of my leave, however). Thankfully, our state implemented legislation for parents to receive 12 weeks of paid leave...starting in 2020, I think. So while the country isn't doing anything, I'm glad my state is on the right side of the issue, even if I can't take advantage of it now.

Yesterday I was so tired, for no good reason. I was wiped out by the end of the day. It sucked.
This week I'm working on wrapping up some of DD's scrapbooks and just waiting for babe to come. Hopefully less than 10 days now!

Today is my last day of work and I have literally nothing to do! I have changed my desktop background, cleaned and sanitized my desk, done some planning for the classroom to get them through DECEMBER. I am running out of make work projects! Going to the chiro at lunch and then need to look busy this afternoon... come on baby, any time now....!

danvers, could not agree more on the parental leave situation, it's BS. Sorry DH couldn't get more time to be with you guys.

MH can use either his vacation or sick time. I think it is ridiculous. I'll take it though. My last day at work is next Friday. I should probably start cleaning my desk...

My H also has to use sick/vacation time to take off. When DS1 was born his employer offered 2 weeks paid leave which was awesome! But different state, different employer. All of my leave is unpaid also because I'm a "contract" worker and do not get STD or vacation time. So while I do qualify for FMLA, it is all unpaid. My boss asked why I'm coming back after 8 weeks...because I can't afford over 2 months with no pay!

I'll add my complaint to the parental leave policy. DH will be taking 2 weeks of vacation once #2 is born because he has the time to. Because of FMLA he is allowed to take more unpaid leave but here's the kicker - apparently, because DH and I work for the same company, the 12 weeks of FMLA are shared between us. So if he wanted to use FMLA to take unpaid time off, it would take away from my time off. If we worked at different companies, we'd each get our own 12 weeks FMLA unpaid, so WTF??

Part of why I'm still showing up to work is because my leave is also unpaid. We don't have STD (yet?), so nothing will be coming in for me... during the holidays, ugh.
DH is using a week's vacation at first. Then he took the week of Thanksgiving and then a few days here and there in December.

We had newborn pictures this morning. It went really well, I think, but photo sessions always stress me out and I'm exhausted. Today is DH's last day of paternity leave but he just left for football practice so his leave is basically over. It feels like he's only had half days because of football.... DS2 has been so sleepy today, which was great for pictures. Not so great for my boobs.

CoachTsWife We have newborn photos next week. We did them with DS but it is a blur. I'm so worried she'll projectile poop all over them. I'm sure it happens all the time but I'll still feel awful. She projectile pooped on me and DH this morning when we were getting her ready to go to her doctors appointment.

While I think parental leave is just crap in the US arimaythea that is just bullshit!!! That makes me so angry for you both. I can’t really complain about my leave since I’m getting basically ten weeks, 2 weeks are PTO, 6 weeks of STD at 60% pay and then 2 weeks WFH. I just started in June so my company is being very accommodating. I feel like my body is preparing for labor but I really need this baby to hold off until at least the 26th. I have a number of appointments and a few big work things to get done. In exciting news, I am getting a nephew today! SIL was induced due to spike in blood pressure and she’s only 36w. Praying all goes well and she and baby are both healthy as can be.

littleowl913 I hope the bleeding stops, they can hold off on the induction for a bit as long as the baby is doing well. danvers As a Canadian I shake my head at American maternity and parental leave policies. My H can take unpaid parental leave, share some of the 1 year i get off at 50% of salary, he's using his vacation days when the baby arrives.

Maternity leave in the US is infuriating. I went back to work when DS was 7 weeks old, and i only got that long because i was a teacher who had a July baby and i didn't have to actually take time off until mid August.

I spent 2 hours in labor and delivery today after baby girl had a suspicious decel on her NST with me having consistent contractions. She looked great on the follow up ultrasound but the doctor wanted to be conservative and just make sure. The on-call OB (Who I had seen last week) said that based on the picture she was sent of my NST she thought for sure she would be doing a c-section on me today, but baby was beautiful during all of the monitoring so I came home. The worst part was that I hadn't eaten and they wouldn't allow me to eat so I almost passed out and felt so gross. I went and got a sandwich and 2 cookies afterward and ate it all!
Here's to hoping she stays put until my c-section Wednesday!

parma986 FX your baby stays put. I hate how they don't allow you to eat, I mean I get why but they should let you have a little something.

Currently stuck under a semi sleeping baby, thought I'd pop in and say hi. Thanks for all your kind and encouraging words last week, they made me cry -- in a good way!
I am doing better than I was, the upside of already being on zoloft is that my doctor increased my dose and it didn't take long to kick in. I've talked with my therapist a few times too, we'll set up an appt soon. In the mean time, I'm hanging in.
We've been home since Thursday evening, DD1 and the dog are doing better than I'd hoped, though there has been an uptick in both tantrums and screen time. DD2 was kind of a dream baby for the first week, aside from being on a polar opposite schedule from the toddler...then in the last 24h she's been crazy fussy in a way that reminds me of DD1, sooo we'll see where this is going.
My sister comes into town tomorrow, and I am really looking forward to having some family and extra hands here.

seventythree glad you are feeling a bit better! I have found a new use for my boppy pillow - hemorrhoid cushion on computer chair. Seriously they are so bad. Anyone have any tips or tricks to share on dealing with them? I am going to ask my OB about it tomorrow at my PP appointment.

bootsorhearts1 I had such bad hemorrhoids after DD was born that’s all I used my boppy for. I took colace/stool softeners, used the blue top dermaplast, tucks pads, and I feel like I had a rx for hemorrhoid cream the hospital gave me Edit: stupid autocorrect

Anyone have experience with PP headaches? Ibuprofen helps but I don't want to keep taking that if possible. The headaches are pretty bad at times.

Hey guys! Still in the hospital and will be going home sometime tomorrow. Currently trapped under bubs - still no name 🤣 Couldn't agree more that the US needs to get out of their archaic laws and get on with other civilized countries regarding maternity & paternity leave. I'm now self employed so I get nothing. Hubs is a contractor so gets the min benefit from his recruiting company = nothing. Basically if hubs and I don't work, we don't get paid but we knew that when we decided to do this a yr ago. Even when hubs was employed at a v large corp. the best benefit I've seen is him getting 2 wks paternity with DS. Same with me when I was employed at large F500 Co. the best I've come across was 2 wks maternity. With DS I was at a small pl but over 50 people so was lucky to be qualified for FMLA. I still went back after 2 months for work and income reasons.
