Anyone want to come in and complain about stuff with me?? Because I'm crabby as fuck.
I dropped my car off at the dealership this morning for Inspection sticker and to replace the windshield wipers (I could do that myself but I was feeling lazy).
They call me at noon and tell me that there is catastrophic engine failure and I need a new engine. Um, excuse me? The car is less than 5 years old, has about 50K miles on it and I just had a service with oil change done three months ago. And it sounds fine. So then this guy Bob gives me a hard time that it is probably my fault because they only have 4 out of the 8 required oil changes on record, so clearly I didn't maintain it properly. So I'm like, this doesn't sound right, why don't you go make sure we are both talking about the same car BOB and then call my husband because I'm over this.
My husband corrects him about the oil changes (the recommended amount of oil changes for synthetic oil puts us right on schedule, not the 8 total that Bob initially thought). But still.
I'm beyond pissed. I TOOK IT IN FOR WINDSHIELD WIPERS.

Fuck you, Bob!
My depression is manifesting in me being extra angry and snappy this pregnancy. I'm reminding myself of my mom and it's making me more bummed. DS is spoiled and is honestly a sweet, wonderful kid but he wants to do EVERYTHING on his own and I can't deal. He threw a huge tantrum because I didn't let him flip the pancakes this morning because it was too early, so I raised my voice and just cut him off from helping, which upset him more. The guilt from me lacking patience is killing me.

Classic sexism, sounds like. I think my response would have been, "Thank you, Bob, please change the windshield wipers like I brought the car in for. That is all I will pay for today."
Then again, I am legitimately the female stereotype, I know nothing about cars. So I probably would have called my husband, who knows approximately about as much as I do about cars, so he could deal with them. I don't have time to fight against that bullshit during my downtime. Luckily, since we bought our car from a dealership last year, they've been nothing but respectful and pleasant to deal with when we take the care in for service. I'm hoping that the quality of service doesn't go down as we own the car longer and longer.
Today, I'm really annoyed with this stupid cold and the side effects of my bp meds making me essentially useless. I can't even freaking stand up without feeling like I'm going to spin into space. Plus, the pain in my leg started back up today (sciatica?) and I've almost collapsed twice. If I had more sick leave to use (I'm saving my vacation for mat leave), I'd have stayed home today.

This made me feel better. As for the rest of it, hugs. Its ok. I don't think the ideal mother is infinitely patient, FWIW. Sure its good to be patient and kind and calm much of the time, but its also doing our kids a service to teach them they can't always get what they want, when they want. Sometimes you don't get to flip the pancakes. That's life! Its ok to be human while parenting. xo

I would feel similarly guilty, but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do in order to not go crazy, toddler independence be damned. It's going to be okay, friend. *hugs*

I'm glad that your husband set Bob straight. That kind of stuff makes me all ragey!
I do home daycare/babysitting during the week to bring some extra money in. I HATE it so much. 11+ hours per day, 5 days a week I have kids at my house that aren't mine. By the time the end of the day gets here, I have nothing left for my family. It's exhausting, not to mention the wear and tear on my house, rude parents, and one 22 month old (whom I've watched since she was 6 months old) screams so much! The kids always get sent to my house sick, getting my family sick. 😬 Did I mention how much I HATE doing this?

Sorry about your car situation calendula. I always have the worst experiences at dealerships. The last time I had an issue, I ended up having MH call and deal with it. I hate that that was my solution, but he took care of it and I was happy. babybean, patience in general is tough. And I’m sure it gets harder with a child. I’m sure you’ll feel the guilt no matter what, but you’re human and you don’t have unlimited patience. It’s ok to have those moments. Hope your day gets a little better! I’m sure pancakes help Rama - feel better! I wish you could take the day off. I know how it is to be saving PTO and feeling like you have to stick it out at work when you’re feeling miserable. Hopefully your day will fly by and you’ll have some time to relax tonight. Hugs!

I’m so so so thankful to be pregnant and so excited about this baby but I hate how I look and how I feel. This is also our last baby so I feel insanely guilty about wishing time would speed by. babybean I yelled at DD yesterday and feel so badly. I apologized and asked for forgiveness. She’s 2 and we were both just so tired so neither of us were at our best. Toddlers are hard but thankfully they bounce back quickly.

babybean Losing patience with our kids happens. It's just part of parenting sometimes (and overall just being human). Don't be too hard on yourself. Hugs! Rama Sorry for all the physical discomfort you're dealing with. Sounds miserable. Only a few more days until the weekend and then maybe you can rest up a bit.

Thanks so much everyone. I keep telling myself it'll get better. I'm still waiting for second trimester energy to kick in, fx it doesn't skip me. 😜 Rama google piriformis stretching if you're not familiar for the sciatica pain. I find 'pigeon pose' for yoga helps that area too.

[/quote] +1 - when I was having sciatic nerve pain, one of the PTs at work suggested those kinds of stretches. It helped me for sure. ETA - messed up that quote. I don’t know how to tapatalk.

my only complaint right now is that i can hardly keep my eyes open, and still have to be at work for another 35 minutes before I'm off AND i have to drive myself home. In rush hour traffic. I live outside of DC. 27 miles from my office. It will take me 1.5 hours to get home. And all i want to do is sleep.

I used a body pillow last night, in hopes that it would help my hips. It definitely helped my hips, except I was up a couple times to readjust & then it took me a while to fall back asleep. Such a catch 22. No sore hips, but so sleepy.

I only figured it out bc the notice said “delivered” and nothing was here. I thought I had updated the account but I guess it was just the billing address. I figure I’ll go and leave a note on their door tomorrow. It’s just annoyingly out of the way and, embarrassingly, not the first time this has happened.

My vent is that DH didn't get the job he had the 3.5 hour interview for last week. He's okay with it, and had a few misgivings about the position after that interview, so it's probably for the best. But I just hate the job-hunting process and the limbo. He's a month in and has only had a couple of interviews. I'm just thankful that the company he works sat hasn't gone under yet, like it's still kind of threatening to. calendula That sucks, I'm sorry. Whenever we have to take our car to the dealership, they always try to upsell us on some garbage repair. I'm extremely thankful we have a local and honest mechanic we take our cars to.

I’m sorry katietopaz, 3.5 hours for an interview???? That’s so shit that he didn’t get the job My vent is that I’m putting on weight differently to what I did with DS1 and none of my old maternity clothes fit quite right, but neither do my normal clothes obviously. DNW to buy a whole new maternity wardrobe, would rather spend that on the baby stuff I need/want...

It sounds like the company is fairly picky with who they hire, and it may not have been a good fit, but DH still loses that half-day in PTO that he took from his current job for the interview. And lots of empathy for the weight gain looking different this time around. My butt is expanding at about the same rate as my stomach, which is way different from last time. I'm sorry about your maternity clothes not fitting right, that's frustrating (and expensive to fix).

babybean, sometimes I just can't let my son help cook. I can't. Sometimes, I am that breezy mom who is on board with wobbly mixing and a dusting of flour, a late lunch while he s p r e a d s the peanut butter so s l o w l y but sometimes, when you just need a meal on the table, it isn't happening. I try to use respectful language when saying no. IT DOESN'T ALWAYS HAPPEN. HUGS.

Well I do need a new engine after all, but the car is still under warranty (thankyouflyingspaghettimonster) so it wont cost us anything. I won't get the car back until next week and until then I have the worlds shittiest rental car that REEKS of cigarette smoke. OMG its so awful. I'm glad its warmer this week because I don't drive anywhere without all 4 windows open.
