All the hugs this morning for ssm, trinitrotoluene, danvers, curmudgeon, bootsorhearts1, and caitost21! As for me, today has been a lot more exciting than I anticipated. All is OK and I'm home now, but I had my first trip to L&D this morning. Around 9:30 this morning my vision went blurry, so I called my OB office and left a message. An hour later - OB hadn't called me back yet, vision was just getting back to normal, but then I had some really crazy numbness in my lips and fingers on my right side. I called the OB emergency line and the nurse that answered told me to go to the ER, which freaked me out so I asked her to get a second opinion with the midwife. She came back and said no, go to L&D instead (which is what I was expecting.) Got checked in and put in a triage room with monitors for my BP, baby's HR, and baby movement. Everything they were monitoring was fine. Midwife was anxious about my numbness symptom, and I told her it's happened 3 times now (once in high school, once when I was pregnant with DS, and now once with this pregnancy.) She went to talk to a doctor then came back and said after I have #2, they think I should follow up and get a scan of my head in case of stroke risk. So.... that's scary but otherwise OK for now.

caitost21 I hope your little guy is feeling better today. arimaythea Glad everything is ok for now. FWIW I started having incidents after DD causing my vision to go wavy and I couldn't see properly. After the second one happened at work, and me having to tell my coworkers for health and safety reasons, I went to my dr got referred to a neurologist and had an MRI. He diagnosed me with migraines and said that the vision was symptom having to do with blood vessels being compressed. I had a mild one this pregnancy but it went away quick. FX it's something similar for you.

arimaythea how scary! Glad you and the baby are doing well. Hope once you get the numbness checked it's just a weird thing and nothing serious.

So I'm nesting and trying to get things ready. I decided i wanted to have my new diaper bag ready with the essentials so that when i decide to go out with both spawn i just have to add my purse, keys, a sippy cup, and anything specific to the trip. I plan to breast feed, what do i need for a newborn and a 2 year old?

I brought LO in for a quick weight check--she is up almost 2 lbs from birth weight at almost 3 weeks in! I was shocked! This explains why newborn diapers and clothes are starting to get snug...

Oh, I guess I should look for a diaper bag. It didn't even cross my mind. I swear my brain is not fully functioning this pregnancy.

arimaythea how scary, glad everything turned out fine. I have numbing/tingling in my fingers off and on but not with vision changes. Definitely mention it at my appointment.

Even though I've been busy today, I keep checking in for baby updates. I had a midwife appointment, did some returns and shopping. I got home and did some tidying, now I'm exhausted and have to go pick DD up from daycare and make dinner.
In laws arrive on Wednesday and I still have a million things to do. Oh and MIL is already driving us crazy. They told us a few weeks ago they would probably be able to borrow someone else's car for some of the time they are here. Cool. So then yesterday my MIL tells H that's not the case and about all these appointments she's made, and that we are supposed to go to thanksgiving at a family friends. Umm thanks for consulting with us. Like I don't have my own things to do? Then she has the audacity to pull a let's see if you can borrow our car in you ever come to visit. H was like we'll rent one, no biggie... not the reaction she thought she'd get.
TLDR My mil is driving us crazy and she's not even here yet.

bp can be one high and one normal. 90 isn't super high. Does it go higher? Or is it staying around 90? Higher than 120? Bottom number has never really been higher than 90. The top number has gotten to 140 but I monitored it after that and it went back down. I didn't get consecutive reads that high. i would just keep monitoring it. Be sure to check after a few minutes just sitting.

bootsorhearts1 So sorry to hear you and LO are back in the hospital. FX everything resolves soon, so you can all be at home again. caitost21 Your poor DS! Sorry for the ER visit...that is cute he went around and hugged everyone. What a sweetheart. @crumudgeon That's a really crappy situation all around - esp what they did to your boss âšī¸ arimaythea That sounds scary - I'm glad you are okay, but I'd be freaked out too. DH gets ocular migraines, which sounds similar to what you described - just an FYI. Might be something to ask about. August Blooms Thought and prayers for your IL's pending arrival. From all you've said about your MIL...man...she seems like a real pill. trinitrotoluene For the diaper bag - extra changes of clothes for both kids, wipes, muslin swaddle blanket, diaper cream, a few small toys for the toddler, anti-scratch mittens for the newborn (in case you have a scratcher like I did), snot sucker, travel sunscreen (in case you live in a warm/sunny climate). That's all I can think of!

Sorry for all the children in the ER ladies! Hope everyone is in the mend or will be able to come home soon. arimaythea how scary. Definitely follow up with a neurologist. Anecdote: I don't want to alarm you, but sudden blurred vision was one of my mother's first MS symptoms. The numbness and tingling is also concerning.

Scheduled my c-section for Wednesday the 11th, luckily my 2nd favorite OB is operating that day because I didn't have a choice of dates with it being so close. Cue the emotions this morning after getting off the phone. I am so ready and so not at the same time!

Update on us: as long as DD can hold her temp all night we will be sprung in the morning after rounds and the night resident asked that we be first on the rounds so we can goooo. I am so ready to be home. Of course now DS is sick with a fever. Like, really??? We think he may have a sinus infection, taking him into the doctor in the morning.
After 2 days locked up in this hospital room with only a newborn for company I was starting to go stir crazy so sweet sweet DH came and brought me snacks, toiletries, preparation H, and some clean clothes. Then he rubbed my feet for 20 mins to help with my swelling after that I was a happy mama again.
