Rama my OB or my last BMB have me the advice to leaning forward and then lean back and then forward again when I peed so I could empty my whole bladder. Also, last pregnancy I got two UTIs with zero symptoms except for frequent urination (with only a tiiiiiiiny amount). It may be worth checking out. At least then it would be curable 😂 I am definitely doing the thing. Iggy is not a fan of me leaning forward, though. Turd. It's not like I'm even peeing all that frequently! It's just when I do feel like I have to go, it's suddenly SUPER IMPORTANT, GONNA PEE EVERYWHERE. Only for disappointment to shortly follow. Drama bladder, reporting. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Loss of dignity came early this pregnancy. I just had to send H into the store to buy me new pants. I threw up so hard in the car that I peed. A lot. Also, not leaving the house without a pair tossed in my purse from now on. After experiencing water breaking in a grand movie style fashion, I always carry depends in my purse while pregnant. When that damn blows a "lady" has to be prepared. #themoreyouknow

I couldn’t stop laughing as I ran to the bathroom leaving quite the trail. Mh was there so it’s a funny memory looking back. I was at home as well, actually in the bathroom and naked because I was getting ready for bed so I was extra lucky, well being naked backfired because I didn't have any cloth to absorb the explosion. I was doing a 24 hour urine test so I had one of those hats on the toilet and sat down and after the main break on the floor I sat on the toilet and ended up filling it up. While I was changing DH was cleaning the bathroom and called to me "I'm assuming this catch has been tainted and i can just flush it". Yes dear it's a moot point. He says it's the most disgusting thing he's ever done is clean up my amniotic fluid.

I got lucky and my water broke on the toilet with my first. My dog woke me up by pawing and whining at me at like 3am and so I figured she had to go outside and woke MH to take her since it was literally below zero. Then I heaved myself out of bed and went to the bathroom and basically exploded.
When MH got back upstairs I shouted “My water broke!”
He was tired and misunderstood and thought I was talking about the cold weather and so he was like, “The pipes burst?”
And I was like, “I don’t think that’s a saying!” “I don’t have pipes!”
Eventually we figured each other out.

My water broke getting out of the car with my oldest at fireworks. I thought I peed myself because I really had to pee, too. I slow leaked for a couple hours before telling my husband.

I really need to get a waterproof mattress cover. I'm afraid of this happening.

My water broke in the bathroom too!!
I felt like throwing up all day and when I finally did...pop! I must have had a ton of fluid because it was every freaking where and I continued with a ton of leaking all the way into the hospital room. I'm sorry for the people who had to clean that.
I'm so paranoid of it breaking at work and then having to get home with that flood. But I'll probably stop going into the office 3-4 weeks ahead of my due date so hopefully it won't be an issue.

With DS my water broke at home. It was Thanksgiving eve. I sat down to eat an ice cream cup and right after I sat down it broke. Thankfully it wasn't a huge gush so nothing ended up on the couch.

Well thanks for the entertaining stories. It's funny because I was just thinking about my water breaking and worrying about where it would happen.

I feel like I should be asking all the BTDT moms all the tips on making their husbands not freak out when the magic "my water broke" phrase comes out.
I'm scared MrRama's gonna flip a nut, hahaha. As in, panic to high hell.

I'm weirdly intrigued by what water breaking must feel like, especially at home. Mine broke after I was well, well into active labor. I was dozing in the hospital bed a couple hours after getting an epidural, and the nurse came to check my progress and was like, "Oh, your water broke." I felt bad, she had to change out my sheets and all that while I was largely unable to be helpful because that epi was working perfectly, haha.

Like you accidentally used a water balloon for a tampon and it popped... but painless. I think I’ve said it before but if you want to take a shower AND want an epidural, make sure you take something with amniotic fluid on it with you to the hospital. DD’s head acted as a plug and they couldn’t verify my water had actually broken and wouldn’t give me an epidural 😡

My baby didn't want to come out. The dr broke my water after a long night of starting and stopping the meds for an induction.

This is nuts, y'all realize only like 10% of women have their water break before they go to the hospital??
That being said, mine also broke beforehand lol. I stood up to go to the bathroom and felt a very small gush. Wasn't convinced until it wouldn't stop leaking while on the toilet. I'm feeling pretty lucky after reading all these stories that mine was such a slow leak.

My imaginings also involved what if's about going into labor/water breaking at Thanksgiving or Christmas. Why, brain, why??

It was good because I was losing my shit. I'm sure your H will surprise you.

My water broke on its own, but I was already at the hospital getting induced. I stood up to go pee and something gushed everywhere. I believe I told H "well, either I just peed myself or my water broke". Luckily the nurse had just walked in so she swabbed the floor to make sure it was amniotic fluid.

With my first, my water broke at 6am when I got out of bed. Not a huge gush, but definitely weird. Like peeing, minus the...release of peeing. I didn't start contractions until 9pm the same day. The whole day, I just leaked and leaked.
With my second, my water broke well into labor, shortly before M was born.
Edit: it broke while I was laboring on a yoga ball, and when I stood up and it broke, the nurses cheered. And I apologized.

It was good because I was losing my shit. I'm sure your H will surprise you. After the whole “the pipes burst” debacle MH pulled it together and duct taped garbage bags all over the front of the car and called the hospital to let them know I was coming. I defffffinitely didn’t have a slow leak. I wore a diaper of towels to the hospital under MH’s sweatpants.

I think the thing that surprised me most when my water broke was that it just kept coming. For some reason, I thought it would be an initial gush and then stop. Yeah, it’s basically a constant trickle with intermittent gushes until the baby is born.

My water was also broken at the hospital. I was almost 7 cm and had stalled so they broke it hoping to get things going. The nurse forgot to give me the diaper thing on and I went walking and leaked fluid everywhere.
I'm glad it happened at the hospital and not somewhere out in public. My friend had hers break at Target and my cousin was an hour an away from home shopping when hers broke. They did not have towels or change of clothes in the car. I will probably have a small bag in my car just in case.

Wow! All these water breaking stories are so intriguing! With DD1 I had an induction/ c section so missed all that. With DD2 my VBAC my water never broke! She came out in the sac, well just her head and neck. The sac broke when her shoulders came out.

It was good because I was losing my shit. I'm sure your H will surprise you. We have a kind of hilarious relationship where one of us panics and the other one is totally calm. I'm typically the calm one with TTC/loss/pregnancy, so he gets all up in his emotions. What I expect is me going, "Oh, btw, I think my water just burst, so...probably should hospital now. Save your game and get some pants on," and then his eyes get as wide as saucers and he starts zooming around going, "OH GOD RAMA WE'RE HAVING A BABY." This isn't to say I expect him to be unhelpful! He's good at managing stress/panic and will likely get everything done/ready fine. I just want to lessen his panic, so he isn't anxious the whole time. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

Rama Maybe you could look into a birth class at the hospital? I haven't done any, but it might lesson Mr Rama's panic when it's go time. I'm sure they go over what to expect so he won't be so completely thrown in the deep end.

Everyone just put an old towel in your car. Do it now. Just in case. So I have a really gross confession. I used a towel to sit on for the drive to the hospital. Then forgot about it. It sat in the trunk of my car for months. One day I opened my trunk and my brother asked why I had a towel in there and I just told him he didn't want to know.
