So now that baby is imminent, I was thinking of using an app to track feeding, wet and dirty diapers, sleep etc. for baby. I had an app with DS but since have gotten rid of it and don't recall what it was. The new mamas, are you using any baby apps to keep track and what about y'll still with inside babies, planning on using an app? Any recos?

I used Mama Baby ( I think that's the name) with DD and still have it on my phone so will probably use it again. It did the job!

I used one with DD and can't find it in the App Store now either? I really liked it too. A friend of mine used the Sprout baby app and liked it so I'll probably use that. I do know using an app was way easier than paper pencil or my memory. The doctor wasn't thrilled at DDs first appointment when I was guessing that she was "probably eating every 2-3 hours" and had "a lot" of wet diapers so I got an app after that...

I used an app called Baby Connect with both of my boys and liked it. I tracked sleep, nursing, diapers, and even pumping in the beginning and liked it. I'm going to see how the latest version is and may decide to use something newer.
I did like that when I was tracking DS2 I could click on DS1 and see all his info to compare what each was doing at a certain time.

I'm the boring person that just used a spreadsheet to track, not a special baby app. I used Google Sheets, and shared the sheet with DH so he could log too if he changed a diaper.
I just made one sheet with the following columns: Date Time Wet (X in column if diaper showed wet indicator) Dirty (X for poo) Breast (left or right, or P for pumped) Min (how long on the breast) Comment (DH liked writing about things like what the poo looked like... lol. Also used this for notes if I did a weighted feed at the BF support group, how many oz pumped, random baby milestones.)
I eventually reduced the columns tracked. Took out tracking wet diapers after 3 months, then mins feeding after 4 months, just focusing on side eaten and poos. I think I tracked way longer than most people do though, because it became such habit. After 7 months, I stopped tracking feedings and just tracked poos and milestones. Stopped just after 1 year.

Thanks for starting this thread duskymonkey I was thinking about this today. arimaythea I like a good spreadsheet, that is some amazing next level data collection. I'm amazed that you did it for so long. Good for you. I think once DD was 2 months I gave up, but my doctor is pretty relaxed. H is lazy with this stuff, I will have to look and see if some of these recommendations allow two people to enter data. I'd love a google docs spreadsheet but H wouldn't fill it in.

No apps here. I just follow cues and everyone somehow survives. #3rdkid

I used Baby Connect too! I thought it was really useful and still use it to tract DS1's growth stats. Planning on using it with DS2 as well.

August Blooms Sprout let's two people enter data and it's pretty easy like hit one button for a wet diaper, another one for poopy, etc. You can get it to email you all the data too if you want to geek out over it. I used to make control charts of my pumping output because I'm a dork but also when you EP you live and die by those numbers!

+1 for Baby Daybook. I used it with DS, and I've been using it for this LO too. So far I'm just tracking feedings and diapers, but there's a lot of other things on there too.

chitownsully and Taitai I'm going to check back in with you to see if you like using it again with your new babies. I haven't used it since DS2 turned 1 so almost 2 years ago! If I didn't use an app, I never would've remembered which I side I feft off of feeding wise. I get it for my nanny so they can update too so we all know what's up once I'm back to work. After the initial period, I just track sleep and feedings but i think most apps would be especially helpful if you are having any type of weight gain/feeding/sleep problems. It really helped me w slow weight gain DS1.

rebeccabunch - I will definitely let you know how we like the Baby Connect app for DS2. In addition to tracking which side I breastfed him on, I think the next best thing about it was the diaper tracking. I remember the pedi would always ask me how many diapers DS1 was having a day, and if it wasn't for baby connect, I would have been like...ugh...somewhere between 7 and 17? It was all such a haze the first few weeks with DS2....

I was so so bad at tracking with DD, so I didn't even bother downloading anything this time around.
If we were having weight gain issues I would consider it, but the doc seems to be ok with my answers about how much he's eating, diaper output and weight gain.
I have a friend who was obsessed with tracking her DD's sleep. She just turned 3 and she finally stopped tracking.

I used Baby Feed Timer and Sleep Timer with my DDs. The Baby Feed Timer I loved, it covered BF, pumping, bottles, and diapers. Screenshot below doesn't show diapers bc I stopped tracking after the newborn phase. Sleep Timer I liked so much I put up with using two separate apps for it! You can also track sleep in Baby Feed Timer, they added that function after I had been using both apps for like two years so I just kept doing what I was doing. I've never tried any of the other apps mentioned, I might check some of those out, but I may be too set in my ways 😄 Baby Feed Timer (in night mode so Baby doesn't notice the screen) Sleep Timer (God my kid was 10 months old here. She was a crappy sleeper 😩)
