Thanks byjoveIt really is. This morning I tweeted that I don't think they are taking care of it because we live in the ward with the highest poverty rate. We'll see if that lights a fire under their ass. I don't feel unsafe or anything, it's just the point of the matter. This would never happen when I taught on the Hill. That car would be gone in a day. |

I'm bumping this because I'm fucking pissed off and I need to vent. My son goes to a ward 8 school and there has been an abandoned car parked right across from the school for over 3 weeks. There is a blown out window and what looks like a bullet hole. I called last Thursday or report it. It was still there over the weekend. I tweeted 311 and nothing. I called yesterday and nothing. It's still fucking there. And kids have to walk past it every day twice a day. That car would be gone in less than 2 seconds if we lived over in the "rich" part of DC. It was still there at pick up. I took a picture and if I see it tomorrow I’m going to Facebook it.
I’m just so angry because this would never happen over on the other side of the river.

Update the fucking car is still there.
I don’t k ow how to do a picture to that Facebook so if it’s still there in the morning (which will officially be over a week) I will tweet the picture to 311 again.
And now there is another abandoned car a little father down. It was in an accident because the air bags are out and tires are fucked. It had to have gotten towed there but why? The part of the street these are both on have no houses. It’s a strip of just nature. Wtf.

Possibly stolen for a joyride and crashed? 🙁 My husband thinks people get in accidents and they dump them on this street. And he also thinks cars used in crimes are dumped there too. It’s a very quiet area of ward 8 so it kinda makes sense. The strip of road they are dumping them on doesn’t have houses and is a sleepy community where the police aren’t called very much. I’m just pissed because the kids don’t deserve to see this everyday especially when I know how fast they’d be gone near other schools that have a huge parent group that would literally storm the council members offices. |

What about bringing it to the attention of wapo or a reporter on NPR that covers local news- doesn’t Kojo do a lot with local government? Bug the mayor?

Tweeting the mayor is my next step. 311 is telling me they have no record of me calling last Thursday. (I obviously can see I called them and was on the phone with them for 3 minutes). They didn’t take my first tweet on Tuesday as a service complaint (although it seems from their Twitter every other persons complaint they made into a service number). So basically they are saying the first official complaint was Wednesday. Which is bullshit. |
