I hope you'll forgive me being frivolous and going off topic while the world disintegrates around us. I'm posting this here because I know a lot of us who frequent this board live in the DMV.
Today we did the Boomerang Pirate Cruise on the Potomac. K had a ball, and we had a Groupon so the price was reasonable (maybe not worth full price, but we got it 50% off). So if you're looking for something fun to do with your kids, check it out.

Awesome. Is that the one that leaves from national harbor.
Just a heads up, paw patrol live is coming in feb and monster jam (lord help me) in January.
We should have a thread about dc events and deals and stuff. #givemealltherecs

My 4 year old's eyes popped out of his head as we drove past the ferris wheel at Nat Harbor last weekend so I was really excited when tickets popped up on Groupon. So one day in the coming weeks while the big kid is at school I'm going to take the littles to their favorite restaurant (Nando's) and for a ride on the ferris wheel. C loves that damn cole slaw.

I didn't even think of Groupon! My son reallllllly wants to go on. We pass it at least a few times a week and I hear it every time.

That looks like so much fun, Uncaripswife! We love going to National Harbor and eating at the Crab Cake Cafe and Ben and Jerry's, then playing in the sand for a bit!

We love crab cake cafe. A new Mediterranean place opened next door and that's so good too. We had our recent staff retreat at the Gaylord and ate at that new medi place; it is good! It has jumped chipotle for my top spot of fast places to eat. And I love chipotle lol

crunch, do you ever take your kids to the Oxon Hill Farm? DS went there on a field trip last spring and still talks about it. I was thinking we would go back sometime this fall, then hit up National Harbor.

Bumping this thread to tell you all we went to Santa’s flight school at fair oaks mall last night and it was awesome! My boys (5 and 2) loved it! We made reservations too which was bad ass. What is this? It’s pictures with Santa but before they get to the pictures, they have a whole interactive flight school for the kids. They get an ID badge and then get to measure their feet and height to fit into a virtual flight suit. They get to “save Christmas” by helping to press buttons to fix the sleigh. There is a room with fake snow. And the ID badge is swiped at each station so the station knows the kids name and then Santa knows their names before they come up to his lap. It’s not any extra, it’s included in going to see Santa and getting pictures. You can also make reservations to skip the crazy line. My boys loved it! And we had so much fun watching them go through it. www.shopfairoaksmall.com/m/holidays

We also go to the Christmas trains exhibit at the botanical gardens every December. It's really lovely. This is an annual event for us too. DC has a lot of really neat things around Christmas. Oh and the Scottish Walk (a holiday parade really) is Saturday in Old Town. Lots of dogs and bagpipes, old cars, some politicians. Everyone has candy to hand out to the kids. This is a yearly thing for us. The kids love it.

I'm bumping this because I'm fucking pissed off and I need to vent.
My son goes to a ward 8 school and there has been an abandoned car parked right across from the school for over 3 weeks. There is a blown out window and what looks like a bullet hole.
I called last Thursday or report it. It was still there over the weekend. I tweeted 311 and nothing. I called yesterday and nothing. It's still fucking there. And kids have to walk past it every day twice a day.
That car would be gone in less than 2 seconds if we lived over in the "rich" part of DC. But since we are ward 8, they don't fucking care.
