@michelle723 guanfacine extended release, took 1.5 hrs today and he ended up chewing it. I said many things I regret. @avacadotlast glad B is ok. How is he today? Thanks for asking. He's totally fine! You'd never know anything happened except for a little mark by his mouth. We got lucky.

jedi can you crush up the pill and mix it in something? We can not cut it or crush it. That is what the doctor told us. It’s an “extended release” so it must be swallowed whole

jedi if you absolutely can't get him to take it, there is an immediate release version that can be crushed. It's also a lot cheaper. There's some debate over whether or not it's as effective, but honestly the Intuniv is not effective at all if he won't take it. FWIW we solely use the immediate release version in our youth patients for this exact reason. If we did immediate release would he need to take it at school too?

amichelle723 he can but I’m wondering if his dr is making it easier for him/us or if there is another reason. I am going to try ice cream tomorrow and tell him he can chew lightly.

H and I watched Deepwater Horizon last night. It’s about the BP oil spill in 4/2010. The movie did a great job of pissing me off and making me sob. Although, I highly recommend it. In the middle of the movie I was reading about some of the men that died and so many were dads with young kids.

The birthday party was fun. It wore the kids out. Isaac was basically falling asleep while brushing his teeth. I was also able to pick my friends brain who is a hospital social worker. She seems to think due to Isaacs premie birth and birth weight that he would qualify for services for free as long as they are needed. Even at the age of 5.5. I had always thought once he hit a certain age you mo longer qualified but this might not be me case. She said there are two ways to qualify.... gestational age at birth and birth weight. She couldn’t remember the weight cut off but said it’s not common for something like this to get missed. She said they might even pay us back for all the OT services we have paid for already. I’m trying to have hope but also not trying to get my hopes up. I don’t mind paying for OT but would love Help. You know?

Isaac I’m certain would not meet the criteria for gestational age but might weight wise

We've been busy doing fun fall things all weekend, playgrounds, orchard, pumpkin patch, nature walks, hayride, pumpkin painting, etc. The kids have had fun and we've gotten in some great family time also, so it's been a very successful weekend! The weather finally cooled down, and I'm loving it!
Still hoping baby makes his appearance soon, but my due date is 1 week from today! I'm so excited to meet him, and definitely anxious/nervous about the birth itself. Really hoping he's not late like his big brother.

amichelle723 what happens if someone chews the extended release? They get all the effect at once I’m guessing. H said that s1 fell asleep in the car twice on a simple trip to the store (15-20 min drive) and now he’s very..... calm. Almost to calm

Visiting with my in-laws... We've been here for 2 hours and nobody has mentioned anything about FIL's cancer diagnosis. It is the white elephant in the room and I'm getting irritated. Obviously, FIL will talk about it when he's ready buttttttt let's just address the issue. He is in good spirits though.
It's also freaking freezing in this tiny house. They have all of the doors open and it is 63°F. I have ice in my veins. I can feel it.

I'm Back!!! We got home a little after 11 last night. What an amazing trip! We had SO much fun! All 3 couples got along great and we had a chance to experience so many things! The country is just beautiful and the people were amazing! Some highlights: day 2 DH stepped on a sea urchin around 10 am, some serious day drinking happened...guys passed out by 6...ladies night happened (I danced so much and had a blast!). I wasted a couple day on day 3 due to hangover+motion sickness (did a river boat tour). We rode ATV's in the mountains, horse back riding, zip lining, mud bath/hot springs, water slide down a mountain, archery and snorkeling! Lots of great food, SO many laughs (did a thrift store date night again, and played so many games!). Lots of wild life, monkey's, beautiful birds, crocodiles, weird squirrels, small skunks and raccoons (of which DH got bit..lol). My week basically was a lot of this

jedi- Definitely shouldn’t chew them. With DS meds we couldn’t even cut the time released ones in 1/2. They are meant to be taken whole, not cut, crushed or chewed.

I just don’t don’t know how to get him to swallow it. We may have found a solution..... stay tuned. Don’t want to jinx it
