S is going to my mom's for a sleep over tonight. And H is going out. I'm going to do some laundry and finish setting up an Uber account so I can deliver food and make some money. I'm not sure how well it will work out, but at this point, it's better than nothing, and I can keep applying for jobs in my spare time. You got your license?! Congrats! Thanks! I finally splurged on driving get lessons to get my confidence up, and passed the test on my first try 😊 and then we bought me a mini van 😂

I made 2 ingredient banana pancakes for the kids this morning. I forgot how easy they are to make and the kids loved them. I put peanut butter on DD's.
We are going to the Cars 3 movie tour that's in town this weekend. DS is so excited!

I absolutely love my ILs. They are fun to be around, and have been so helpful to us over the years.
BUT they are completely opposite of us politically and it definitely adds an underlying tension to the relationship.
My MIL just got done telling me how sick she is of Fox News being on at her house all day every day and that she was "definitely moderate" on the political spectrum.
The next breath she says she thinks government should be left to the states and the federal government should be for defense only.
*face palm*
I couldn't help but say, "Uhhh... that's actually a very, very conservative point of view!"
I need to learn to keep my mouth shut and just smile and nod.

We had an incredibly busy weekend here. We took down two huge limbs from one of our trees and chopped all the wood and bagged all the branches yesterday. Today we hit the gym, took the kids for a picnic at the splash park and then went to dd1s soccer game. After we had another picnic (love summer!) and played at the playground. Everyone for showers and now dh is out doing a training ride on his bike and I'm going to get juice as soon as he's home bc a Malibu sun splash is gonna happen before I call it a weekend. I also managed to get a dinner made for this week so I'm one ahead on that. It may sound like it's all together around here, but my house is a disaster. I guess that's the side effect of being out all weekend and doing stuff.

nellieoleson I feel you. My ILs are the complete opposite of me in pretty much every way. I don't talk much when they're around, unless they ask me a direct question, or it's about the kids. Even then I keep it short and sweet. It's not worth the drama for me to speak up most of the time.

dizzycooks sounds like a good weekend! nellieoleson I always say the wrong things in those situations. So I just *try* really hard not to talk. Hubs is recovering well. We had a good weekend. question about kids and sick. We have literally been sick for almost 8 straight weeks. I am currently taking an antibiotic and am subsequently sick again with, I assume, a virus. L has had all sorts of crap pretty much non stop. Is this just our life for now? Are we doing something wrong? It all commenced with daycare... Please just tell me this gets a little better eventually?!?!?!? It is really starting to affect my ability to do my fairly physical job. And I throwing myself a pity party. Sorry 😞

kcrkcs it's kind of the way it goes for the first few months. She'll have an immune system of steel in a year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have a killer headache. I'm betting it's partly from lack of sleep, too much sun/heat, and tension. My mom sprung a trip to the park on me this afternoon. I was not prepared. No sunscreen or hats. And then I had to fight with S to leave. That's about when the headache started. Finally got both kids in bed and now H and I are watching our show.

kcrkcs, normal. It'll take a while for her immune system to strengthen, but it gets better. Our pedi said kids have an average of 7 illnesses with fever (colds, unexplained, etc.) during their first winter in daycare. At some point this past winter I asked our pedi if I could just book a standing appointment like every Tuesday at 3pm and call and cancel on the rare occasion we didn't need it. The kiddos are off daycare this week (Pentacost week is a school holiday in Germany and today is actually a federal holiday for everybody), and I took off of work to watch them. Is it bad that I'm not looking forward to it? DDs 1+2 are in fighting mode lately and constantly bicker.

Hope you all get better kcrkcs. We just had our first two days of preschool last week and my poor little guy started a fever last night. So, yeah...

crimsonandclover I don't think it's bad. Pretty normal, I think. I'm not looking forward to summer vacation. If I could've afforded it I would've signed S up for some day camps, but it's too late now. I think I'm going to try to get us out of the house a few afternoons a week at least.
