(This is my first ever post here - I hope that's okay and I'm doing it right)
We're having a girl (yay!). I'm 90% we are going to name her Clai.re Jo.seph.ine. (Siblings are Elo.ise and Th.eodore). I feel like my H isn't totally on board with Claire and I have some guilt over that PLUS his cousin has a kid called Claire (which means his grandma would have two great-granddaughters with the same name.. is that weird? we barely see them).
Also contenders: Cecilia Caroline Lydia
We have a last name like Smith or Johnson (popular English last name) and my H thinks Claire is too bland with it. What do we think of Claire? The other choices? Something else?

I love the name Claire! How many great-granddaughters are there? I don't find it objectionable to have two cousins with the same name, especially if you're not particularly close.
From your list, I think Cecilia meshes better with the sibling set.
What do you think about Clara? Is that sufficiently different?

I love Claire.
How often do you see the cousin? If it'll only be at a funeral, I wouldn't worry about it. We inadventely have DS the same first name as his cousin's kid and it hasn't been an issue. We never see them or talk to them, so we didn't even know until after DS was born and named.

Claire has been on my list, as well as Clara. I personally like Clara or Cecilia (or even Cora maybe?) with your sibset better, but don't think you can go wrong. I try to stay away from most family members names, even if they are 2nd or 3rd cousins, however I don't think it is a total deal breaker.
Love your sibset. 😊

There are eight great granddaughters, and my son is the only great grandson. I've seen the existing Claire twice ever.
So I was thinking Clara, but I'm English/American (my family lives in London, H's live in the US) and we are all going to pronounce it differently. Clah-ruh vs Claire-uh. Idk about that.
Ridiculous problem: how many times can I hear someone sing OH CECIIIIIIILIA in my life without committing a murder if I choose that name?

You have such beautiful names. I love Claire! I do not see the extended family member as a problem. I would also suggest Clara. Cecilia is very pretty as well.

I adore Claire. Clara is lovely too. My next choice from your list would be Caroline.

Well Theo.dore and Cecilia were near the top of my list for my last kiddo. And Elo.ise has always been a favorite. So Cecilia gets my vote.
My H had the same worries about the song, but I wasn't bothered by the thought of it.
How does your H feel about the other names you posted?

I vote Cecilia! But I don't know the song being referenced. Personally I wouldn't do two cousins with the same name, but I'm irrationally picky about that.

BTW on my mom’s side of the family, there are two different names that are shared by second cousins. One is a very common boys name, the other is a less common girl name. They see each other pretty frequently actually, and it’s NBD.

Oh, hi friend! I don't think I had seen your girl update. Yay!
I adore Cecilia with your other two. So beautiful. But I also love Lydia.
I'm ok on Claire and meh on Caroline. I love Clara, but I see why you'd be hesitant to want to deal with the pronunciation stuff.

I love Claire. The cousin thing wouldn't bother me if they were distant. Cecilia is runner up. Traditional but still has a little quirkyness to it.

I do love Cecilia but I reeeeally don't like CiCi as a nickname. Is that inevitable? I think of that disgusting pizza/pasta buffet restaurant.

I just don't know if I can take my H singing OH CECILIA every time we talk about names. I mean, he'd tire of it eventually.. right?

Cecelia is hands down my favorite girl name. I admit that it partly has to do with being raised on Simon and Garfunkel's music, and after learning that it was my great grandmother's middle name it sealed the deal.
As far as nn's I don't care for CiCi or CeCe, but I do like Cissy or any variant spelling. My BFF is Cicely (pure conincidence) and that's what her siblings call her.

Cissy/Sissy is NMS. One of my bffs when I was little was Cecily, which is really pretty, but constantly misheard as Sesame.
My H points out that the Cecilia in the song is someone who is banging a bunch of dudes (which is fine! No judgment, fictional Cecilia)

I just came back here to suggest Cecily because I think it's awesome with your older two's names.
But I see it's already been discussed! I love it so much though.
