Lakes, agreed, other than Bri I think the casting is spot on. grumpycat, I hope you're right and she'll grow on me. Roger is cute enough to distract me from her most of the time, at least.

I enjoy the fact that I’m posting right after Notarobot Anyhow, I watched tonight! I enjoyed this episode a lot. I agree, Bri doesn’t really work for me. But I felt that about Jamie and Claire to begin with and they’ve really grown on me so maybe. I’m hopeful. Yes, I can’t wait for Claire to not have this hair. It’s bad but it definitely ages her so I’m sure that’s what they’re going for. I’m sure it’ll be different when she goes back. I was laughing that it seemed like they didn’t try to age Jamie at all for the later scenes this episode when Willie was older. I’m really interested to see what they do with him later this season. As for the older thing, when I first started reading the books years ago I remember telling the friend who introduced them to me that I didn’t want Jaime and Claire to be old. And she told me they just get better and better. I didn’t believe her but I totally agree now.

Just finished up the new episode! Bree is growing on me, slowly. I love Roger. {Spoiler if you havent read}They definitely sped through a couple things, but I'm not all that sad. I am excited for next week's episode to see more of the reunion. I really thought that they were going to get Claire back to Jamie then leave it off for next week. They did a bit better than that though. Both characters do not appear to have aged once Claire is back though so head's up everyone.

grumpycat I agree about Roger! I'm trying to be open minded about Bri. I think she looks the part and want to like her but something about the acting still throws me. I did like her character more in this episode. I think the next episode is two weeks? I don't want to wait that long but it is an extended episode so hopefully that will make up for it. New episode musings:
I'm glad Claire's hair is back to being wild but I wish they left the gray. I'm assuming it might come back eventually since she won't have more dye. Leaving off in the print shop like that was torture but you knew they were going to give you an awful cliff hanger.
Book musings: I'm almost done with the second book and the third should arrive today. The waitlist for my county library system is insane for this series so I'm splurging and buying them. I still mostly hate the France storyline. I like that you get some more details and explanations in the book but was still very excited once it was over. I think the show did pretty well covering it and liked some of the tv adaptations better.

Ahhhhhh! {Spoilers for this episode}Omg, this is what I have been dying for all season. And of of course now I'm traveling for the next few weeks so I will have to wait ages. But I'm so glad we got at least the very beginning of the reunion, I was sure they'd cut it at her going through the stones.
I feel like Claire looks maybe she has a few more wrinkles still but yeah, Jaime has not aged a day. Ha. Meh, I will let it go.
I agree, Bri grew on me a little this episode. And I really love Roger.
The mother daughter stuff, I was bawling. It pulled at every pregnant heartstring.
All in all probably my favorite episode of the season thus far.

robot I think the mother-daughter stuff is why I liked Bri a bit more this episode. It made her more relatable and less, I don't know, bratty maybe?

I'm jumping in late since I just found this thread. I've read all the books, but it's been years since I've started the series and can't remember everything that's happened.
I just caught up on the show, I'm really liking this season so far. I hate that it's a two week wait for the next episode.

I've finally caught up to where the show is in relation to the books. It's exciting to read "new" stuff. I want to have a nice lazy day of reading but my children don't agree with my plans.

@blanche , I just finished that book the other week and no, she doesn't have an active role in it that I remember. Except being in the room.
Voyager, Book #3 thoughts and spoilers I finished it last night and really enjoyed it until the end, maybe the last 100-200 pages, once Claire jumps off the Porpoise Man-O-War ship. Then it was one thing after another with surviving all the boat voyages and trying to find Young Ian and voodoo oracles and crazy Geillis. It was too much and not believable. Big LOL to me for being upset that a book involving time travel wasn't believable. It just felt rushed and choppy. But I think I liked the Caribbean story line more than the France one.

New episode tonight! I'm gonna get it set up to watch while my kid clusterfeeds. #winning it's apparently quite a steamy episode too (whomever was missing the sex scenes, I do believe they will be returning).

I think I was underwhelmed? Maybe there was too much hype for the reunion or maybe it's because I'm beyond this point in the books so I knew how it was suppose to go? Jamie's glasses killed me. It totally goes against the book where he says he still has the eyesight of a hawk. I guess that was their attempt to age him but it's going to be a pain in the butt to keep them around. I think it will be like Claire's gray hair, you see it once and they won't bring it back. At least that's what I'm hoping. I don't mind that they're not aging them that much. Even if the books it's hard for me to picture them 20 years older.
I loved the reunion with Fergus and meeting Young Ian. I'm excited to see more of them!
I'm curious to see what they do with condensing/changing the plot and timeline since Jamie already told Claire about Willie which didn't happen until later. I thought the changes they made with the first two books and seasons were well done so I hope they keep it up!

A question and speculation about Murtagh for those who read the books so some spoilers He died at Culloden in the books so do you think they'll bring him back in the show since he survived and was transported to the colonies? They left it kind of open ended. I could kind of see him taking the place of Duncan once they get to the new world if he survived his years of indentured service. Sort of like how they changed around the roles/characters of Angus, Rupert, and Willie in the first two seasons

Diana Gabaldon wrote a bit about Murtagh on her Facebook page around that time (Sept 27). Basically what her job as consultant was and how they could change things. She doesn’t specifically go into how she thinks they will change it though just that everyone really enjoyed working with the actor and loved what he did for the character.
I also was underwhelmed with the episode. Got to the end and felt “that was it?” It had some great moments though.

I think they're finally back on track with the latest episode (episode 8). The last two, since the reunion, have been meh and boring. This one was better and I'm excited to see the next one. I'm loving young Ian. I am also very sick of Claire's shiny blue dress. Girl needs a new wardrobe stat!

I’m finally caught up from being gone. I think binging the latest 3 episodes was the way to go. There were some nice moments but overall they kind of felt a bit draggy until we get to the stuff in the next episode. They’re important for establishing Claire back in that world so I get it but yeah.
I missed if Jenny told Claire that she knew as soon as she saw her back that Claire would take Jaime away from her, and that’s why she did what she did. But maybe she said something along those lines. Not sure. If not, I wish they had kept that though. I feel like that motivation is important.
I like the Murtaugh thoughts. I hope he comes back.

I couldn't watch all of Life of Pi either which is funny because I don't normally feel sick when I'm on a boat.

Jamie's awful glasses made reappearance, noooooooo. I loved the portrayal of little Elias Pound. Actual season 3, episode 10 spoilers I'm disappointed Claire didn't meet Lord Grey on the ship. I wonder if they're cutting him out of the Jamaica storyline. It would explain why Jamie told her about his son right away instead of Lord Grey telling her later.

I'm caught up again. I think this is an advantage of not having read this particular book in years, I didn't even remember LJG was on the boat. There's already a lot going on with Jamaica so I can see them making that cut.
