So my first beta was 109. 2nd was 143. 3rd was 271. The nurse had told me it was likely because I was a slow riser or potentially there had been two and it went down to one.
The doctor herself called me this morning. Said she thought it was likely we had two that reduced to one but we would know more at the ultrasound and that she "remains cautious" which I assume is doctor speak for "I can't promise you anything until we see ". I had to talk myself down after she said that.
She also said that she was happy with the rise from my 2nd beta to my 3rd and that women have a "wide range" of beta levels but the "slow rise" from 1st to second "wasn't what she wanted to see."
Why is this freaking me out so much? Even with morning sickness and every other symptom I have AND four positive HPT, I am now officially freaked out. I wish she hadn't called. Why would she call me knowing I can do NOTHING but sit on this for another 11 days until the ultrasound?
Does anyone have any thoughts to calm me down? Is this just typical doctor speak and I'm overreacting?

*grad warning*
Unfortunately the most definitive answer will be the u/s. I can tell you my betas stopped doubling before 6 weeks (they went up about 60%). Coupled with bleeding meant I was an emotional wreck. My doctor had warned me that things may not end well but we did see a hb at 6w. RE couldn't find any evidence of bleeding but supected we lost the second embryo. We're still going strong at 18w.
I wish I could provide more comfort but this IF stuff is a total mindf*!# and it doesn't end when you get a positive beta.
Sending positive thoughts your way.

That great rise from 2nd to 3rd beta is the most current information you have on the health of your pregnancy, and it couldn't be better! At the same time, would they be willing to give you a 4th beta for peace of mind? If it were me, I would push hard for that. The result would be really reassuring, and it's torture to ask you to wait around 11 days wondering if all is well after your doctor raised concerns.

Thank you kyzo,. That is what I assumed happened for us since we transferred two of excellent quality. Honestly, DH and I had no real -- Idk, fierce desire for twins -- but we transferred the two on the doctor's recommendation. I'm honestly not concerned at all if only one hung on. That would be GREAT. I'm just feeling shaken in general by the "that wasn't what I wanted to see" followed by "your third beta is great" and "we have to be cautious." It just all seemed like a contradiction and like she WANTED to confuse me. I asked her a second time if she thought it was because two took and only one stayed, and if she was sure she was happy with the 3rd and she said yes, but she couldn't confirm anything without the U/S. I just thought it would be EASIER after the positives . . . But this is almost worse. Because I know s/he/they ARE there, but now she makes me feel like that's not the case. Thank you sunshiney, I'm actually at work and writing down all these positive thoughts. I got the proper betas. I have four positive HPTs. I have all the symptoms that indicate a pregnancy and no cramping or bleeding or anything concerning. I have so many people reassuring and pulling for us. It's just such a wild, hormonal kick in the pants. I just wish that science had a way to see the U/S and heartbeat BEFORE 6 weeks.
