M hasn't nursed in a few days. Maybe we're done? I'm not sure.
It's weird. But also, not weird.
She just can't stop biting now, it feels like.
Alas.

I want C to night wean. But she's sick, so I feel like I shouldn't do it now. But she often sleeps better when she's sick, so she kind of dropped a session all on her own. Maybe we can springboard off of that as she gets better. I just need sleep back.

I night weaned a few weeks ago so P goes from 7 pm to about 530 am. She might wake once before then but BM can tuck her in and she will go. She pretty much has to nurse at 530 or she will be awake and sometimes she's awake anyway. I'm so glad it's pitch dark out at that hour. Eye roll.
Next step is full weaning but I don't know how to approach it.

Ha ha. M nursed this morning. She asked so nicely, so we tried. First side hurt, so she switched sides. Second side hurt, so I said, "that's enough, sweet girl."
She shook her head, gently, without removing her latch.
I laughed and asked again. Again, head shaking.
It was very funny.

It is however, adorable when she unlatches, says all done, and pulls my shirt down.
Also a sign that she is old enough that I no longer want to be nursing.

Blah. C woke up at 10:30, so I just rocked her back down. But she wouldn't stay asleep. She kept falling asleep and springing back awake. That went on for over an hour before I decided to nurse (if she had woken up at that time I would have nursed). Blah, that was exhausting.

On the up side, while she was crying, she wasn't flipping the fuck out. She seemed ok with the concept that nursing wasn't happening, she just wanted to sleep.

mapleme, how long did you give her to go back to sleep when you popped her back in the crib after some rocking? P seems to just need some snuggles and then if I tell her all done and night night and put her in she plays around and then goes to sleep. Unless she's just not gonna do it but then its obvious standing and screaming immediately. Ok, maybe the first time I let her scream for a while until she fell asleep. She seems fine though.

The problem was that she was falling asleep but then popping awake again after a few minutes, which she'll do when she's still hungry (or in pain). But hopefully her body will soon adjust to not eating then.

Improvement with last night. She woke up at the usual time and asked to nurse. She only gave a little whimper of sadness when I told her no and then let me rock her back to sleep where she slept for another 2 hours. Hopefully she will soon stop waking up at that time. It would be amazing if I could completely night wean her before I go on my trip in January. That would make bottles/pumping so much easier. And nighttimes for DH too obvs.

We're done and I'm so, so relieved. I think my milk actually dried up so he just... lost interest. I'm sorry I don't have anything helpful to add.

mapleme, do you still pump during work/does she take a bottle? Yes and yes. I pump twice and she gets a bottle once. At home she will nurse 1-2 times during the day (besides bedtime). ETA: and we found during nursing strike that she will take a bottle ON fine too. But no bottle ON would be even easier for all involved.

Pumping with the manual pump is like a bazillion times better than even the Spectra. It's faster, more effective and no setup. Two times feels so much more manageable than 3. It's a lunch break and again before leaving to pick them up. I can keep doing this for a while. It also helps to know that I'm at a point that missing a pump session or two because of a crazy day is just fine.

Well, this is it guys, I'm actually going to wean this time. For the next week, no boob until bedtime, and then after that, J is going to do bedtime and I'm going to hide or something. Of course I waited until she is now asking for "Mama Milky" and breaking my heart when I have to turn her down, but I am soooooo done mentally and physically. ugh.

Total score that C slept until 3 am! But then her next wake up was 5 am. Whomp whomp.
