Old daycare took chartered buses to field trips. Obviously that was the highlight for j..
I'd rather meet there than drive other kids at this age. Elementary school I'd drive others, my private school growing up did that occasionally.

I mean, you can, but B is already super excited about it. Hence why I volunteered. I'm kind of curious if it will just end up with all/most parents tagging along to drive their own kid. ETA: this preschool has been around for 50+ years so I'm guessing they've been doing this for awhile and I'm probably not the first person to be iffy. I might inquire with the director and just see what she says. I would have volunteered to drive as well. I'm just curious what would happen if you were to get in a wreck with another child in your car. KWIM? Yeah for sure. The more I think about it and discuss with y'all, the more I'm questioning it, too. I agree, the liability-for-another-child thing not really something I'm comfortable with. Since this is a church preschool--and not an inexpensive one--I'm surprised there isn't a church van, or that they don't rent buses, etc. for this type of thing. I'd pay a bit extra per field trip, if we're only talking a handful a year.

Yeah. Those corpsman need to be kicked out, it's inexcusable. That hospital had a lot of issues many years ago and has worked really hard to turn things around and become one of the better Naval hospitals. I hope not all military medical personnel are painted with a bad brush b/c of this. We pay extra for our insurance so the kids and I see civilian healthcare providers--not because of poor care on base but just accessibility, and not wanting to deal with a 'gatekeeper doctor' scenario. So I haven't dealt with the hospital personally.

My neighbors go to our daycare and there's a couple of M's friends that I know the parents, etc. But just some random person driving their own vehicle, installing the car seat, etc? I wouldn't be okay with that. I've worked at a few preschools and the van driver is usually insured by the preschool and has to go through an extensive background check including submitting their driving record.

xolastunicornxo I feel like trying to figure out how to arrange my hair-washing, spray tan, and errand schedule before vacation is harder than calculus. Right? Like you have to make sure you get everything you else (waxing/hair/manicure) done before the tan, and you want the tan as close to the event as possible... but you don't want to be doing a ton of running around while your tan is setting. It's a very first world problem, but a problem nonetheless!!

N looks like she was punched in both eyes. We went to the pediatrician and slight EIs in both ears, so getting augmentin. I forgot to ask about an ENT, but will at the follow up.
We drove around some houses while she was napping and scoped out two neighborhoods. One is idyllic street with cute colonials and basically we need the house. Not sure mh or my wallet will agree. (Still dragging our feet on pre approval, great).

flamingo I think driving kids you don't know is weird these days. My grandma talks about how when my dad was in elementary school, the principal asked her to stick around at the end of pick up and take any kid who no one showed up for home. She often didn't know the kids and just dropped them off where they said they lived. No one batted an eye back then but now it's weird. Even my 10 year old has only been in the cars of 3 friend's parents.

Re driving other people kids/other people driving yours. Still quite normal here, most fields trips are driven by parents, but not sure how I feel about this. I think we'll start volunteering 😉.

The bank wants a quote for landscaping for our loan. It's going to be the dead of winter when the house is finished.. I'm not landscaping until Spring. I told them to just exclude that and they said they'll see if they can. WTF. Who plants flowers in November/December in OHIO?!

Me too because this is so effing disgusting and inexcusable, but it's actually not that likely to happen. Dishonorable discharges go through much less often than you hear the term thrown around. Often it only happens in severe crimes where the offender goes to prison.

Our kids better have zero sick days in kindergarten! I expect immunity of steel after the daycare sick gauntlet.

The girls' preschool was small and the field trips were all close by. Parents/teacher drove the kids. I chaperoned and drove a kid once and installed his car seat in our car (all the kids who did not have their parent driving had to be dropped off with a car seat that day in order to attend). I get the initial nerves, but the parents have to give consent and the other parents are going to be driving their own kids too. I'd imagine most people are even more cautious with someone else's kid in the car. All volunteers have to have background checks.

Any Grace and Frankie fans here? I started it a long time ago and even though I enjoyed it I stopped after a few episodes. I finally started watching it again and it's so fun and heartfelt. I really enjoy it.

I told him to just delete that line and call it done. I'm not landscaping or putting in a budget and getting a quote drawn up that I'm not going to use. I'll do it myself in the spring.
