I've seen a few mentions of when you're announcing your pregnancy throughout our threads. I'm so interested in this. Share with me:
Have you told anyone yet? Who? How far along were you? If not, when do you think you will? Why?

If not, when do you think you will? Why? I slipped and told my BFF on Tuesday, so at approx 5 weeks, because I couldn't keep a straight face when she asked me if my period started too when she came to borrow a tampon. (We work together and our cycles are usually creepily synced). And my H was trying to be vague about needing time off next Thursday for my ultrasound (he works for his grandparents) and couldn't think of a fib fast enough when his grandma asked why. She is a vault though and won't slip to anyone else. Otherwise we will tell parents next week after the ultrasound if all goes well. I have a hard time keeping big secrets from them. We see them several times a week, so it's taking all my effort to not spill the beans now. And we will probably announce to others like work extended family and friends, closer to the 12wk mark. Probably with a cute picture of DD and our dog for fun. 😊

I've always been a bit of a non-sharer so I told my family at 11-12 weeks first time after I got the Harmony results back, just before the nuchal u/s. I wondered this time if I'd be more keen to share or even better at hiding it. I'm still not sure. I think I'll have a far better idea of when I might share after my dating u/s next week. The thing is, if I do have an early miscarriage, I don't want my family to already know I'm pregnant then have to go through the sympathy and sharing. I'd probably tell them afterwards, but having to un-announce my worst fear. At this stage, thinking of telling my immediate family after Harmony results come back then friends and work after the nuchal u/s (same as last time).

Last time we told our immediate families at 12 weeks. I would tell my family sooner this time, but I don't want MIL to know any sooner, so it'll probably be 11-12 weeks this time too. We have our ultrasound at 10 weeks, so the first chance I have in person after that. I feel more compelled to tell this time because there's so much more to figure out since we already have V. Also, I forget sometimes that people don't know and have slipped up. I did tell one of my close friends and a few coworkers who I know are tight lipped and care about me, and who I would talk to if something happened anyway (and they have less emotional investment in my baby than family members).

Last time, we only told a handful of close friends/ family after an early bleeding scare (think coworker to help cover for me, best friend to take me to ultrasound when husband was out of town, and brother to help hide why I wasn't doing much heavy lifting at thanksgiving that I was hosting because I was on modified bed rest). We told everyone else, including parents, around 12 weeks after the NT scan.
This time around, I told my best friend because I needed to talk about some anxiety I was having, and she will have a newborn in a few weeks and not as free to talk. We got accidentally outed to my bro and sister in law at exactly 5 weeks. We took tours of two different hospitals in the area to figure out which OB network I wanted to choose. Turns out, my brother and sister in law (who are set to have their first any day now) also signed up for the 5:30 pm on a weekday tour. That was AWKWARD. We plan on waiting until after 1st tri to tell everyone else. I don't want my son finding out to early to decrease the risk of having to untell a three year old. And we are foster parents, so I don't want DCS finding out until later for similar reasons.

I don't think we will tell until after we see the heartbeat or 12 weeks. I had a loss between my first two kids and had told family early. I spent a lot of time having to reassure people about how I was feeling while I was going through it, and it just made me feel more stressed. Our family is in different states than us, so we will just call or send a cute photo to announce.

We haven't discussed when we'll tell family yet. We'll probably wait as long as possible/after first tri. I didn't say the words to my bff but I told her in a roundabout way. After my CP this summer (which only a small handful of people know about) I needed to tell someone outside of creepers on the internet.
Last time we told my ILs within a week of finding out. We were at a family dinner celebrating my newest nephew and family vacation came up. MIL wanted to schedule for as soon as school was out and I was due mid June. Told my sister at 6 weeks because I was so damn sick. Then the rest of my family right around 8 weeks. I'd had a bleeding scare and was measuring behind; I wanted their support in case things went differently.

I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow. We've told our moms, siblings, my grandma, my aunt & two of my cousins, since they're more like my second mom & sisters; H told his best friend and I also told my two best girlfriends. My SIL told Facebook. She deleted it within minutes and I'm fairly certain no one saw, and luckily, she didn't tag us in the post. Because of the complications that I'll be seeing at the end of the pregnancy, I want to meet with the MFM before fully going public. I have an idea of how I plan on announcing, so we'll probably announce closer to the second trimester, since I'm about 6 weeks out from meeting with the MFM. ETA: spoilering my announcement idea, since the pictures are kind of huge. I originally had the idea of our two olders "playing" tug 'o war with a onesie saying in the middle & them wearing their big brother/sister tee shirts. But then the big kid (6) brought this home the other day & I think I'm going to skip the TOW and do a collage type thing with the paper, the onesie, an ultrasound in the corner & the teddy bear we picked up last week. (It says "I love my family is cool because there is 5 of us"). Oh, I also told his teacher (whom is a friend from school). She's sending him home with a blank my family sheet for us to do something along the lines of this with the sheet in the middle instead of the onesie.

I have a wine and cheese party to attend tonight with a lot of my friends and I am a terrible liar, so I might just not even try and just tell people. I will mention that it's super early though (like, I haven't even missed my period yet) so hopefully I can just mention it and not talk more about it.
Also, hi, I go here now!

MH (obviously), my BFF, and one of my barre instructors were the first to know. Now, a few close friends, my SIL, and other spin/barre instructors know.
I will tell my mom this weekend and probably wait to tell anyone else until after 12 weeks. Ideally we would like to tell family in person so that would push us out to Thanksgiving (14 weeks).
Coworkers will be told sooner if needed, for safety reasons.

Either way, thank you for your enthusiasm 😆

Last time, after struggling with infertility, we were so excited we told a lot of people right away.
This time, we did tell our parents right away, however we are waiting a bit longer for friends and coworkers. We plan on telling DH's siblings this weekend and probably my BFF. My bestie at work will probably find out next week and I'll wait until my U/S to tell my boss and the rest of the office. We're announcing with our holiday photos on Facebook and to the rest of our family using photos from the November shoot.

I told my BFF and her husband the day I got the positive... it was the last day of vacation and the way I told DH was by whpping out a onesie while we were taking a family picture, my friend was taking the picture so she got it immediately.
We've told a few family members and close friends and I'm sure more will figure it out at the party this weekend where I will not be drinking. The FB announcement will go out after the first appointment.

We've told my ILs (they live on the same property as us, were probably starting to wonder why I was so tired and useless all the time lately) and I told my 2 closest coworkers. Also told my SIL but with terrible timing because they are TTC too and it was CD1 for her.

We told my parents and a few close friends right away. We told my siblings after our first ultrasound. Not sure when we will tell anyone else. I don't think my bump is going to be easy to hide this time as it's my third.
