For the purposes of this check-in, we will define extended breastfeeding as breastfeeding beyond 1 year. Questions are repeated and suggestions are appreciated! 1. How old is your LO? 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 3. Share a nursing-related success story (something tough you overcame). 4. Is there an age you know you wouldn't BF past? Pregnant & BFing Moms: How are you doing this week? Any issues with supply, pain, aversion? Questions for other moms? Tandem Nursing Moms: How are you doing this week? Any current challenges? Questions for other moms? Non-BFing question of the week: Would you rather have to eat only warm food or have to eat only cold food?

1. How old is your LO? 2 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 3 3. Share a nursing-related success story (something tough you overcame). With DS1 the LC at the hospital gave us a nipple shield because he wasn't latching- it made everything in the early weeks SO much more difficult. Eventually I got him weaned off of it and things were easier. 4. Is there an age you know you wouldn't BF past? Depends on if we have another kid or not. I'd prefer not to BF while pregnant again, so I'd probably try to nudge DS2 towards weaning. If we don't have another, I would prefer to be done by age 3.
Non-BFing question of the week: Would you rather have to eat only warm food or have to eat only cold food? Ugh... it would suck to only be able to eat cold food, but only being able to eat warm food would be kind of inconvenient when you were on the go. I think I'd have to pick warm food-- the idea of eating cold leftovers in winter is just too ick.

1. How old is your LO? 3 and 1.5 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 2 3. Share a nursing-related success story (something tough you overcame). Probably navigating BFing/pumping supports at my work. It should be a lot easier for the next person. 4. Is there an age you know you wouldn't BF past? Newp. I'm pretty sure I'm past my original ideas of when it would be weird to BF, and it's not weird so I'm letting those ideas go.
Tandem Nursing Moms: How are you doing this week? Any current challenges? Questions for other moms? We're good!
Non-BFing question of the week: Would you rather have to eat only warm food or have to eat only cold food? Warm... I think. If I could I think I would do room temperature though because there's a lot of foods I'm not going to enjoy warm and there are even more I'm not going to like cold.

1. How old is your LO? - 2.5 year
2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? - 2-4
3. Share a nursing-related success story (something tough you overcame). - kid never took a bottle. Nursing strikes always suck, but they were especially awful knowing there wasn't an alternative other than a syringe.
4. Is there an age you know you wouldn't BF past? - no
Non-BFing question of the week: Would you rather have to eat only warm food or have to eat only cold food? - dang. Hard one. Both sound terrible. I'll go with cold I guess.

1. How old is your LO? 13 months
2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 6+
3. Share a nursing-related success story (something tough you overcame). I was fortunate breastfeeding went fairly smoothly for us. DD had a hard time staying latched on when she was a newborn. I also had a lot of pain for the first few months, I think because DD tended to have a shallow latch. I pretty much just got used to those things because she still pops on and off constantly and prefers a shallow latch.
4. Is there an age you know you wouldn't BF past? I never thought I would go past 1, so idk. I'd like to wean DD before we have another baby.
Non-BFing question of the week: Would you rather have to eat only warm food or have to eat only cold food? I think I would prefer cold. That could just be because I'm really over feeling hot and it feels like it will never cool down here.

-20 months -3-5 during day and several overnight (mostly early morning) - she didn't latch well in the beginning. We used a nipped shield and weaned from that -I don't really have an age in mind. I'd like her to self-wean.

1. How old is your LO? 3.5
2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 1-2...though some days none.
3. Share a nursing-related success story (something tough you overcame). My milk didn't come in for 3 months so using assisted lacation (tube attached to mipple) plus pumping and taking medication to try to help my milk come in were pretty difficult...especially the tube feeding.
4. Is there an age you know you wouldn't BF past? I don't know. I'm ok going until she doesn't need/want it any more. We only nurse at home now so I'm not bothered.
Non-BFing question of the week: Would you rather have to eat only warm food or have to eat only cold? I actually prefer most of my food cold (which is odd I know) so I'm good with cold.

1. Very end of 22 months.
2. 2-3
3. Nursing through pregnancy.
4. I'm undecided on this. I really wanted to make it until she turned 2( as long as she wanted to), and then possibly go as long as she wants.
Tandem Nursing Moms: I go here now! DD2 was born 9/13. DD1 had a huge meltdown the first time she saw the baby nurse at home. I let her nurse the other side at the same time and she calmed down. Since then she's fine when the baby nurses but she's asking to nurse more frequently now.
Non-BFing question: Probably cold food.

1. How old is your LO? 21.5 months 2. How many times per day does your LO nurse? 2-3, most days 3. Share a nursing-related success story (something tough you overcame). The first month was really tough - we had a lot of latch issues. Using the nipple shield briefly helped, and seeing an LC at least once a week did too. Also his first ear infection at 12 months was awful - he'd bite, hard, and mostly rejected me for almost a week. I thought we were through and I was a wreck. 4. Is there an age you know you wouldn't BF past? I don't think so. I always thought a year, and then that moved to 18 months, now I just so cherish that quiet, cuddly time with an otherwise always-moving toddler... right now my plan is to let him decide when it's time.
Non-BFing question of the week: Would you rather have to eat only warm food or have to eat only cold food? Cold I think - I never mind cold leftovers, and this would mean I'd still get cheese, ice cream etc!
