I'm moving J over here since she's in pre-K now. Cue tears. School is going well! She started all-day pre-K this year. She's doing simple math now, which blows my mind. And she's writing some small words without help, sounding them out to figure out how to write them. It's amazing how quickly she's picking up on what pre-K is throwing down LOL The attitude is a challenge these days. Goodness gracious, sometimes I swear she's a 16YO trapped in her little 4YO body. And she's starting dance - ballet and tap - next weekend! We've put off organized activities because, frankly, we're always really busy. But she really wanted to start dance, so we found a Saturday class right around the corner. She's already met her teacher and can't wait to start! We plan to start swim lessons early next year, then she wants to do a sport next summer, either soccer or softball.

DS1 is loving first grade. I was a little worried because the school split up him and his three besties, but they all seem to be doing well and still get to play together at recess. He loves math and spelling, and he thinks he's a big kid now because his school lends all the kids older than kindergarten laptops. Reading is a challenge, and he's still a bit behind with speech (I think these two things are related), but he's making progress.
On that front, I've been complaining loudly about military kids losing speech services, and I just received a call from a senator's office this morning telling me they're going make an inquiry! It's the first time I've felt like all my phone calls and emails and letters might actually make a difference (being a blue dot in a red state).
We're super busy with soccer and ninja on Tuesdays and then soccer games on Thursdays, but other than being tired a lot, we're having a lot of fun with it! I coach his team, and I have no idea what I'm doing 75% of the time.

Thanks for posting, enchanted! It kind of fell off my radar after not much reply on the last one.

DS1 is in 3rd grade now. Shew! One of my good friends is his teacher which is pretty fun. I like that I can threaten to text her if he's having behavior issues at night or tries to make up lies about what his homework entails. LOL. He's so good at school, though, other than rushing through assignments. So hopefully she can work on that with him. It's not new, though. I've gotten that feedback from EVERY teacher he's had since preschool.
He's playing fall ball twice a week and otherwise just being 8. He's a good kid. And while he bickers with DS2 like it's his job, he is SO, SO sweet with DS3. I love it.

I'm moving over here for DS2 as well. He's 4.5 and in Pre-K this year at the same elementary school as DS1. He goes every day in the afternoon. Same teacher as last year, which is beneficial for him, and he gets his speech services at the school twice a week.
He's in the throes of being 4, though, and BOY IS IT FUN. Shew. Strong emotions, lots of attitude (I'll take something away after bad behavior and he folds his arms and says "I don't care"). OMG. It's something. But on the flip side, he's still the cuddliest and so cute at times. We just need to make the bedtime routine move a little more smoothly. Kid sometimes takes 1.5 hours to fall asleep. It's... hard.
He started soccer on Saturday. He was his typical honey badger self and refused to participate until about 10 minutes before practice ended. I reminded him that he was the one that asked to play soccer because baseball wasn't his cup of tea. We'll see how it continues to go.

oldbaylover1024, DS1's 4 yo attitude almost killed me. I've recently started enjoying his company again.
