Half way!
DD came home from school yesterday with her first cold of the school year. Boo! I still plan on sending her today because she doesn't have a fever. Hopefully she won't get any worse throughout the day.

misspeansmama Hopefully it is just a mild cold and she gets over it soon. I love the fall but I'm not looking forward to cold/flu season.

We had a bit of a tough drop off today. DD was saying her belly hurt & she felt like she was going to throw up. 😞. I'm really hoping it was just nerves. Poor baby.

I'm about to go on a run but I have zero motivation. At least it's a short one today.
I will be spending the rest of the day attempting to declutter the house. We'll see how much I'm actually able to get done before I have to head out to the bus stop.

Has she been nervous about going to school? A little, but mostly excited. Today she mentioned wanting to go back to her daycare. ☹️. It's a huge adjustment, the school is K-6 and way bigger than the daycare center she was in. So far I haven't heard from the school, so FX she's having a good day.

I didn't get called in today. Woohoo! I drove DS to school since he was nowhere near ready for the bus when it was time to go outside. He wanted breakfast even though he already ate. I dont know if I mentioned this already but the school offers it for free this year for everyone so he's been getting it every so often. I accompanied him. What's interesting is I usually hear the principal ask kids if they eat at home & if they did, go out to play or if they didn't, they should have breakfast. My kid always eats breakfast at home. Don't be fooled. He's just eating twice. the more the better, he's always hungry

I'm gonna be leaving in a bit. It's DS' class' day to visit our town's library. The teacher said parents were welcome to meet them at the school & accompany them for the walk & whatever they do there. 1st graders go once a month so since I'm home, I told him I'll be there. I would just walk to the school but it's looking cloudy & I'm still not 100% so why go crazy all at once & then screw myself.

@chair, Sorry you have been having rough mornings with your DD. I know what that is like. DD hates getting dressed and ready in the morning. It's a major PITA! Glad to hear your dog did his business outside this time. Hope he gets over whatever he has soon. NamasteBirches, that is too funny about your DS eating two breakfasts.

I should probably say he eats some sort of breakfast 98% of the time. I'm laughing remembering that time he was too busy drawing that stegosaurus to eat & the school breakfast isn't anything huge so it's not like he's eating like these extravagant things. Most days when he decides to go in vs playing, he'll get cold breakfast which is just cereal or a poptart/granola bar. Today was "cini minis" & he had oj. one of these things, he really likes them they were supposed to be apple flavored today & he was gonna try them but since there's no school on Friday (this is usually Friday's breakfast), I guess they bumped it up to today

DD keeps telling me she wishes it was summer. This morning when I was dropping her off she said "Mama, I'm going to be cold and tired and hungry all day. And I'm really going to miss you". 🙁 Aparently I'm raising Oliver Twist. I think once we're out of sight they forget all about us and have fun (at least that's what I tell myself).

Also I've been in constipation hell with DD lately. She makes me cuddle her when she's on the toilet if she's having painful poop. Yesterday I was on the floor in front of the toilet hugging her for an hour and a half. I wish I was exaggerating. She actually fell asleep twice while trying to push it out. She hardly eats at all and when she does it's mostly fruits and veggies so I'm at a loss. Any suggestions to help constipation?

sammysam, DD has issues with constipation as well, has since she was about 18 months (she's almost 6 now). The scenario you described is exactly what I have had to do many many times, though she has gotten better about not needing me to hold/hug her while she is trying to go. Anyway, when she first started having the issue her pedi put her on a daily regimen of Miralax. We still have her on it now. She gets half of an adult dose daily. Her pedi said once she is eating more well rounded the constipation should go away. Unfortunately for us, her diet is still pretty terrible. Hopefully some day we can stop giving it to her. Give the Miralax a try. You have to be consistent and give it daily though otherwise she'll get bound back up again quickly.

Oh man, I'm sorry for all the sick/cranky/not wanting to go to school kiddos!
It's just a normal Wednesday for me, except I just ate my second helping of apple cake that I brought into work to get it out of my house. Clearly, I am amazing at dieting.

The library was interesting. Kids were excited on the way there then & then super whiny on the way back in regards to all the walking. LOL Then when we got back the secretary flagged me down & asked if I was available tomorrow. I'm going in to cover someone. I like that at least got an overnight's notice! I kind of had my finger's crossed for two days off in a row since today was cut short but oh well. Friday I know is off since there's no school.

We did Miralax when DD was about 18 months. I'll try it again. And I've never tried prune juice.
Thank you for the suggestions!

We've done miralax until this summer. Her GI suggested a dairy free diet and she's started taking benefiber. We've also noticed constipation gets worse if she eats raspberries. Changing these have helped and she goes every day now without pain or discomfort. Good luck!
