DH bought corn tortillas by accident and they are not my favorite for quesadillas. Bake them and make nachos instead. All the same ingredients.

Random question, have you/would you give the WiFi password to the occasional HS/college babysitter? Particularly if they are not watching the kid at bedtime?
Last night Maddie's Kindle was set to remain on much longer than normal and I'm guessing the sitter changed it on SAT. She's a nice kid and keeps the girls alive and all that, but is otherwise lazy. The time before last that she watched our kids she trashed the house and left spilled popcorn all over the living room. She watched them on SAT because I was working and MH had a first aid class. When my friend went over to get the dog she said everyone was basically zoned out on devices. It sounds like she just let them watch movie after movie that day despite there being 3 parks in the neighborhood.
That ship has already sailed with this babysitter, but for future babysitters would I be a total hag if I declined to give them the password? We pay this babysitter well and I don't care to pay her to play on her phone. Maybe I'm just being crotchety, but of course there was no such thing as WiFi in my babysitting days so that wasn't even a thought.

inthekitty, probably wouldn't give out the wifi. If they want to watch something there is a tv. I would also leave specific instructions to walk them to the park or tell the kids have Miss X play xyz with you outside, etc.

inthekitty I'd give it to them but I'd also leave specific instructions like klong11 mentioned, like no electronics today or they're only allowed to be on them for 30 min, etc.

You all were talking about teachers the other day and I'm going through pre-k teacher withdrawal for Maddie. Her first year of preschool her teacher was meh, Cass has her now. But her second year of preschool her teacher, Mrs. K was amazing. She was warm and engaging. She made the kids feel special. Maddie adored her. I've been positive and open-minded about her K teacher, but MH and I both agree she seems cold and distant. She's never taught K and is used to teaching 4th grade. She has this convoluted behavior tracking system (there are something like 7 levels of behavior--way too many) and marked Maddie down for something ridiculously stupid yesterday that is completely normal behavior for a 5 yo (or for that matter an 8 yo). Maddie is a really sensitive kid so she really takes that kind of stuff to heart. I just hope her teacher gets a clue and adjusts to the expected level of K because I want Maddie to have a fun year and I don't want to have to battle as a parent.

I wouldn't even ask for it if I was the babysitter. I guarantee their phone has data if they feel so inclined to use it.

Thanks for the feedback tgrimes , trtlcrzy, and klong11 . MH is the pushover with this babysitter. I wasn't thrilled about him arranging to have her watch the kids for that long and made it known. I asked him to tell her some basic instructions (because I had to be at work at 0600 so I didn't even see her) and he kind of acted like I was being a jerk/controlling. The girls were just waking up when MH left and the babysitter didn't even comb their hair. I babysat a lot as a teen and wouldn't have dreamed of being as lazy as this babysitter, but I think MH has let it go too much she'd be hard to retrain. Also I don't know if I want to put in the effort to train someone who doesn't intuitively know things like "Don't dump popcorn all over the floor and not clean it up." I'm thinking more of for future babysitters because I'll never be this casual starting out with anyone again. I don't care how sweet you are, if I'm paying you, it's a job and I expect something out of you.

I can barely get my eyeliner on straight when standing in my bathroom, I shudder thinking what I'd look like trying to do it on a bus! Right!? And it was a really full bus too. In high school, my girlfriends used to ask me to do their makeup while we were on the bus. My BFF still brags about how perfect her liner looked when I did it while riding the bus and bouncing over train tracks. Either she's right, and I worked miracles, or we're going to laugh our asses off when we stumble across an old pic where her makeup looks really wild.

Morning. Today is off to a better start. I didn't have to yell at all this morning. DH needs to learn to be gone better. Like, if you're not here, at least be mindful of the things that we have going on. He's just living his own little life and telling me about the best food he's had ever blah blah blah. Don't want to hear it. We are completely out of food at home and I need to figure out how to get to the grocery store at some point today. MH does this too. Makes me crazy Or he'll complain how he's tired b/c he went out with the crew after working or something. Like, seriously?

So, you know how you have those jeans in the back of your closet for the 'I'm gonna get so skinny again like when I was younger and rock the shit out of them' jeans. Well. I fit those jeans now, and although awesome that they fit they are sooo not my style anymore. They are these gawdy Buffalo ones that have some fading in front and the thicks stiches. So PSA, dont save clothes just for the size.. Good job that they fit though! And I need to throw out all my suits...if I ever need professional wear, I highly doubt anything will still be in style. I did this purge while pregnant with C, which was kind of smart bc I couldn't try anything on and talk myself into keeping it 😜I kept one Navy skirt suit that I loved and was pretty classic, but ditched the rest.

Corn is gluten free, hence the love of them. Thankfully mh and j are used to them too.

inthekitty she sounds pretty useless. I wouldn't give it out, because like trtlcrzy said, she has data, she can use it. Time to treat yourself to some new jeans, vino. Enjoy your date night, nam2013.

I'm late but I don't think I'd turn over the WiFi password, esp. for a daytime sitter. I'm all for being accommodating with snacks, etc. but unless the kids are in bed asleep, I'm not paying you to mess around on your phone. inthekitty I'd be ticked about the house being left a mess. That (should be) common sense...I babysat a decent amount in my early teens and always picked up after the kids and myself, put away meal stuff/dishes, etc. I can't imagine just leaving stuff out for the parents. Part of me thinks it could be a learning opportunity for the sitter, but the other part would just want to cut her loose and be done.

So I got a call from my Immunologist's office saying my immunoglobulin treatments were approved and they want to know if I want to start them? Yikes. I haven't though too much about it yet.
Then I told her I just found out I'm pregnant so I'm not sure if that changes anything either way?
The doctor is supposed to call me in a bit.

I get annoyed when I come home and my mom has watch the kids and the house is destroyed. I can't imagine coming home to a paid sitter leaving the house destroyed. I would probably never use them again. I always wash dishes and cleaned up after the kids and even did laundry when one little girl got sick until the parents could get home. And that was when I was 11!
Once we're in the house I need to find a Dependable sitter that isn't related. I feel guilty using family all the time even though they tell me constantly they don't mind. But I'd like to have someone come to the house and have them in bed when I get home.
