rebeccabunch Good! Things have clicked. No accidents for over a week and he's basically night trained himself too. Which means early 5am pee/poop calls for us, but I'm not complaining too much.

H is on his way to visit with DD. She was asking to see me and I'm anxious to see her again. We have the Marco Polo so, which is like a video walkie talkie so, and he sent me a video last night of them reading books and her saying "night night Mama!" ❤❤ How's your DS doing? Are you getting to see him enough? I'm behind on what's going on and want to know how you are both doing. How are your hormones? I just updated in his birth thread, but he's doing well. Still not sure when he'll be discharged. He's eating so fast he forgets to breathe, and they want that sorted out before letting him go home. I should be discharged tomorrow. I'm all over the place emotionally, but am handing it well because we've been here before with DD. It will be tricky juggling him and DD when he's still at the hospital though.

TNT and @crumudgeon sorry for the bad days. I don't know how to correctly spell either of your SNs and I secretly want TNT to change her SN just so I communicate easier with her. Lol, you can just call me TNT. I'll find it and respond the next time i get on. And my day has gotten better. He has made up for it since then by being sweet and keeps kissing the side of my head to make me all better.

Am I crazy for considering going south with my family at the end of January? H's cousin is getting married, he's going for sure, I'm debating on going with the two girls. It's a 5 hour flight, we will be renting a house for a few days at the beach then meeting up with H's family for a few days for the wedding festivities. I feel confident right now about this but am I crazy? If you've travelled with toddlers and babies what are my essentials? Go on the trip! It sounds like fun! I am biased when it comes to infant travel - but I think it is super super easy to travel when the baby is little. DS was 6 weeks for his first flight (5.5 hrs) and 8 weeks for his second/third flights (15 hrs and 3 hrs, respectively). It was really easy to handle him on all flights - he just slept and ate the whole time. I baby wore him in the airports so that nobody would touch him or get too close, and I always obsessively use wipes disinfect my seat/space once I get on the plane. Other tip is to bring your boppy on the plane. Now....traveling on long flights with a 12 month - 21 month old...well, that's a different story and is no fun, because they are mobile and have very short attention spans. I forget how old your other kid. Would the toddler be more than 21 months by the time you fly? If so, you should be good. I found once DS hit 2, he was a lot easier on the plane because he would read books and look at the iPad with us. So, if the toddler is 2 or older and you think your H can deal with the sibling, then I say go for it. We plan on doing a little family vacation (only 2.5 hr flight) in early December, so DS2 will be like 6 weeks. I'm excited for it If you decide to go and need more tips about navigating the airport and travel - hit me up! DS has no joke been on more than 60 flights and he's only 2.5. We've got the travel thing with littles down pat, and I think we'll be fine adding an infant once DS2 arrives. 😁

Guys I just put my post partum celebratory wine bottles (2 airplane bottles that were gifts) in the fridge to chill for after delivery. After the last few days I've had, I have zero shame about it.

Taitai I think we are going to book it, DD will be 32 months or so. Plus only 5 hr flight with no connections and a normal time of day. I will definitely hit you up for more tips closer to when we go. thatgirlrachel Hopefully you get power soon, it sounds frustrating.

Baby was moving around a ton today and I swear moving from transverse to perpendicular over and over (not sure if she was head up or down). I just want her to go head down!
I'm off tomorrow for a comp day for working this coming weekend and I have a hair appointment scheduled. I am so excited- my hair is so long and thick it's driving me crazy. Definitely doing a mom chop so it's easier to deal with and won't take 20 minutes to wash every day!

Speaking of flights.... How might it be flying with a 5 month old? One of DH's good friends is getting married in San Diego (3hr flight) at the end of February. We'll need to see how much vacation time I have left (wedding is on a Thursday), and see how much flights run, but I've never flown with children. It is a "no kids" wedding so DS1 will stay back with grandparents (whole other worry there, he's only been away from us one night). We've told them if we come we'll have the baby with us, sorry not sorry. It's a very small, intimate wedding and we're the only non-family guests invited....

August Blooms if you're crazy so am I! We are flying from western Canada to Hawaii (more than 5 hours of flying, 2 flights) at the end of January with my family! With baby and our 3 year old. We did it when DD was about the same age and while it's a long day it's totally do-able! We travel with our kid(s) a lot and my tips are: - pack as light as possible clothes wise, you can always wash as needed especially if you are renting a house - buy stuff there! Diapers/wipes/formula etc. Take what you need for the travel day plus extras but don't try to pack enough for the whole trip, takes too much room - pack lots of toys/snacks and some new activity for the older one on the plane - wear baby onto the plane for sure

Just finished bumping the Monday randoms, whoops. Not at all caught up on today! Nothing much to report here, somehow my husband seems to have the cold worse than I do (man-cold or for reals? the world may never know), and for some reason the only way he knows how to cough is to sound like he's dying. It's getting on all my hugely-pregnant nerves. So basically in survival mode over here, just trying to rest as much as possible until I get on the other side of this thing.

trinitrotoluene, sorry you had a rough day but sounds like it all turned out well. Well I'm having one of those weeks again with DS. Let's just say that he defiantly peed all over the floor today 😡. He behaves well enough in school and not a problem according to his teachers 🤷🏻♀️ I really hope he's non the worse when bubs shows up. Speaking of babies, with all the activity this past week, it sent me into I suppose nesting mode and I did what I could. Got a shelf in the kitchen cabinet cleared out for bubs bottles and feeding stuff etc. I cleared out a drawer in our bureau to pack away bubs stuff which is almost all washed since he doesn't have a room and he'll be sleeping in ours for a while. I also cleaned out our bathroom drawers. I had hubs bring up the changing pad only to discover it's disintegrating and he suggested using tyvek tape to fix it 😂 I'm like that pad is like over 7 yrs old and was given to us by my friend...I think we can get a new one 😅

CoachTsWife, August Blooms, I find it's much easier to fly with an infant than a toddling tot like what Taitai, said and agree with all she said and also with doodlemommy, check in everything and anything you can so you don't have to worry about lugging stuff throughout the airport. Do bring an extra change of clothes for everyone, 2x more for baby. If traveling locally, amazon diapers to your destination. This is also where baby and tot wearing comes is super handy. We've never bothered bringing strollers with us and depends on the destination I suppose and age of child and what sort of activities during travels. We were contemplating on bringing an umbrella stroller this summer to Europe but had to cancel plans due to getting pregnant and being high risk and all and well... inadvertently put on MBR so...sounds like Taitai, is our resident travel expert so I would totally hit her up for advice.

The best and easiest flight we ever had with DS was a 15 hr flight from Hong Kong to Chicago when he was 6 months old. He was so happy and cute with everyone the whole time, and he slept for a lot of the flight. 5 months is also before solids, so that's really easy for feeding - esp if you are still breast feeding. Just pack your boobs...haha. Even if you do a little bit of rice cereal or oatmeal, that is also easy to put in a plastic bag and then just ask the flight attendants for water to add (or add formula or whatever you do). Done and done! Plus - 5 month olds aren't mobile and still super easy to baby carry because they have more head control. Probably my favorite age for infant travel actually.

doodlemommy duskymonkey Thanks for the advice, I'm starting to feel more confident about doing this. We are looking into more family friendly places to stay, so that I don't have to worry about some of the stuff once we get there. This is totally new to me, luckily I've been to the place we're going before, so I know what to expect. I'm actually getting excited about this trip.

We're driving to FL in December. I think that's a little crazier than flying with the infant. Lol
I've heard it's super easy to travel with a newborn. It's the older ones you have to entertain.

I've heard it's super easy to travel with a newborn. It's the older ones you have to entertain. This is so true! It was much easier to fly to FL with DD when she was 8 months old vs 15 months old. She needed a lot more entertainment when she was older and wanted to run around. We packed a bunch of toys and snacks (some old, some new) to amuse her but she had an overtired meltdown on the way home and finally passed out sleeping after ~45 minutes. When she was younger, I wore her onto the plane and nursed her on take off- she fell asleep nursing both times.

It's the older ones you have to entertain. there are two sides to both. Newborn driving travel....requires a million stops. But baby sleeps a lot. Toddler driving travel - less stops, but oh so many more tears about being in the car seat for eternity. And they get bored
