jubilantsquirrel, I'm so sorry to hear that about drop off. Poor guy Re: flu shots; my pedi did them at D's 9 month appointment last month. She gave one to DS too since he was there with us. But apparently I have to take D back for a second shot since it's her first time getting the vaccine, and I don't think I have scheduled that yet. Should probably get on that.

Guys, I'm feeling completely overwhelmed at this moment. Like, there is way, way too much to do, at work and at home. I need to take deep breaths but I don't even think I have time to do that...

I always feel like this. Do you write things down or makes lists of what needs to be done? That helps me a bit and I get some kind of gratification from being able to mark through items on the list.

Pumping/ working mamas: how much milk do you send to daycare?? tjanca22 dashook jubilantsquirrel? goldenlove? (I assume it would be different than babies drinking formula? But really, I have no idea) E is hardly eating solids and starts daycare in a month. I wasn't planning to send pumped milk because by this time O was eating so well and was drinking WCM. Now E is hardly eating and she can't have cows milk to replace it. I will be trialling WCM as close to her birthday as possible, but she starts at 11 months and I want to send BM as long as possible. I won't be able to keep up with pumping once I start work. So I'm going to see how much I can get before oct 30th which is when I start work. I have 22oz in the freezer that I've pumped in the last week. Obviously I know that won't get us very far. But I have no idea how much I need to send since I EBF. Like, girl has probably had 4 bottles in her life, so I don't have a reference point.

Thanks starbuck I didn't even think about older kids providing entertainment/playmates. So I could ask my sister to bring her two over once a week for a few hours just for more of a group environment. We were getting out a lot more a few weeks ago but work is really hunkering down on when I'm online etc so for me to leave the house while WFH is difficult (but not impossible), is just need to say I'm taking a break. There is a library in walking distance to me, I could prob even push them in the stroller over there so I'll check on story time! I checked out the music classes sophiegrace and they're $600 for 5 weeks x 2 - no way I can afford that at the minute for something I'm not sure if they like. But my mother has a friend who does a children's show- like plays guitar and sings and has someone dress up as a dog - I could like ok into when/where she does these shows and maybe try one of those (they're free). But I am considering the soccer group I just found, but it starts at 18months so I have a while to go. I'll look into gymnastics too! I know my town must have free resources I just have to find where it all is. The other thing is that I'm rather shy and we live in a very rich town (but we are not rich) so all the mom's I'd be getting together with at these things are wealthy SAHs and I'm afraid I'll feel "less than"... I just have to look, there's gotta be other women in my "class" (aka that like to swear and drink).

hangry bm is different than formula yes. The general guide is an ounce to an ounce and a half per hour. So if daycare is 9 hours, youd probably want 3 3-4.5 oz bottles, depending on apetite.

hangry no advice. But it's so funny how different kids are. J is all about table food. Turns his nose up at anything you feed him with a spoon because he wants to do it himself. He's nursed ONCE today. Totally refuses. I can't wait to start WCM. The pedi gave me the green light to start if I wanted. No more than 10oz a day.

I was sending H 3 4oz bottles when he started daycare at 3 months old. Daycare thought he was still hungry. Maybe start with 4 ounce bottles and hopefully she'll start eating more solids by then.

tgrimes, I'm going to tell MH to just drop and run. I guess he wasn't the only kid freaking out and the teachers are used to it I'm sure. hangry, I'm not the best person to ask. DS2 won't take a bottle. He also won't drink milk from a sippy or straw. My ILs have had a little success getting him to drink from a regular cup, they also mix the milk into foods. But with all that he's still probably taking less than 6oz during the work day

hangry L's at daycare for 10hrs a day and takes 3 3oz bottles. I always send an extra 2oz just in case and I have a small container of formula stored there as a just in case too. I also send a snack and one meal and she usually goes through all of the table food.

Ok, those amounts all sound reasonable. Now to get that milk. Anyone want to pump for me?

I do, and I definitely need to do a new one for the next 2 weeks immediately. The thing that's just crazy to me right now is how much work stuff there is, but every single thing is really time-consuming on its own so it's not like I can just knock off a bunch of tasks each day, you know? Oh man. This is insane. It isn't helping that I have barely slept at all these past 2 weeks. My mind feels foggy.

hangry my DC was actually really annoying about DS's bottles and we tried many different things, but over time figured out that four 4-oz. bottles (breast milk) was good for him. By the time he was a year I think I was only sending two or three bottles though, along with solids. Once he hit a year I would mix them with WCM and eventually subbed one out for WCM (I know you can't do the cow's milk but just giving you my experience). D has never been in DC. I went back to work when she was 5 months and my goal was to leave 16 oz. of milk for her each day but that quickly went down to 12 because I just couldn't keep up with pumping 3 x's per day. Fortunately she also was starting solids then. So now on a typical day I pump around 11/12 oz. and she gets that over 3 bottles, and if she's still hungry my nanny gives her formula (also 4 oz. since for us it's a supplement/top off and I nurse her when I get home).

And also frustrated because I stopped nursing DS1 at 6 months because I ran out of supply. And here I am with an abundance this time around and this kid won't take any! Rood.

I need to look into this. I'm down to only pumping once a day at work, but I'm hoping to cut that one out soon.

We use "Human Milk For Human Babies" (they have local chapters everywhere) to help match up donors to people who are looking.

Thanks danib! I did a quick Google search and there are some milk banks near me but yes, they require medical screenings (which is fine if that's my only option). I'll look into Human Milk for Human Babies too. waitwhat, yes! It's cookie dough frosting, it's really good. The cupcake itself wasn't that great (a little dense and it had nuts in it) but the frosting was amazing.

I'm gonna need a recipe for that cookie dough icing. I can double check with the person who made them, but I'm pretty sure this is the recipe she used. I'm surprised there to learn there was peanut butter in both the cupcakes and the frosting because I didn't really taste any. wishesndishes.com/monster-cookie-dough-cupcakes/ ETA: I asked and I was right, she did use the above recipe. I'm probably going to make this frosting and eat it all in one sitting.

Apparently I have been sitting on a chocolate chip for the past hour and a half. It looks awesome melted onto my black pants. At least it smells better than actual shit.
This is exactly the kind of day I'm having.
