I've been invited to a wedding at the end of March in Tasmania which is a state about 3.5 hours flight away from home (right down the bottom of the country, and it's an island so you can't drive to/from back to the bigger cities).
My Dr says I'll be booked for a C section in the first week of May. She looked a little cautious when I suggested I would go. Now I'm wondering if it's too risky to go that far when I'm about 4 or 5 weeks off my due date.
Last pregnancy I flew at 33 weeks and was fine but it was 2 hours each way and I did the round trip in a day.
What would you ladies do? I feel like I need to look at booking flights soon. I'd hate to miss it, but I'm second guessing it.

Personally, that's close enough to the due date that I wouldn't be comfortable flying at all. I know that people do it, but H and I took a driving trip when I was 30 weeks pregnant last time, and then I didn't travel again for the rest of my pregnancy. I wanted to be close to home and near my doctor and hospital in case something happened.
I also would be anxious about potentially being stuck on an island if you go into labor while you're there, and especially if the baby has to stay in the hospital after, since that would be preterm for you. Then, the only way to get home would be to put the baby on an airplane, which I also wouldn't feel comfortable doing with a newborn.
ETA: I also just saw that you have a C-section planned, if that's the case I'd be even more wary of potentially being in a situation on the plane where you might have to deliver vaginally if it came to that.

I personally wouldn't. But I just wouldn't be comfortable flying that close to my EDD.

Thank you, I was feeling like I shouldn't go but I was wondering if I was overreacting. I'll wait until I can announce and make a final decision but I think I might have to miss out, sadly.

I'd do it as long as the pregnancy is normal and the healthcare options at the destination are acceptable.

I usually traveled for one last trip at 33-34 weeks with my other kids, 2.5 hours tops in air. It always depended on my status though. I think if I had any complications or wasn't sure, I would have stayed home.

I'm going to have serious FOMO because it'll be a gorgeous wedding and she's a good friend. I bet a Napa wedding would be amazing.
