J will be 4 next month. We just realized that we have no idea if he can draw. Each kid has their thing, I just figured drawing wasn't his. But he was supposed to draw himself for preschool and D and I were like omg. We've never seen him draw more than a scribble. I tried to bribe him with tootsie rolls and he scribbled a little, but wanted to stop and said it was boring. But like he looked extremely uncomfortable with it. Anyone else have kids that just don't draw or color? I know drawing a person is supposed to show part of their development, but is that like even if he doesn't do it he should still have the ability, or will it not come until he starts and gets through the scribbling stage? Anyone know?
ETA he also consistently messes up sounds. Like "good" is always "doog" and if a word starts with an S the S is silent. Medic is something like megit, which is close to the "good" switch. But he talks all the damn time lol

O just turned 4. He mostly scribbles in one color and I've never seen him draw a person even though he colors a lot at church and at home. I think it is just a personality thing, I have a friend with twins who are almost 5 and one spends a lot of time staying within the lines and changing colors, the other chooses one color and scribbles over the whole picture.
ETA: O has trouble with certain sounds too.

Ok thanks. At this point if I ever see something questionable with my older 3 all my alerts go off and I figure I'm just failing at parenting them bc I have to work so hard to parent O.

H is almost 4 and definitely struggles with certain words. And still doesn't say Rs or Ls correctly (they come out as Ws)...
He likes drawing, but has several friends who show no interest at all. And his drawings are all scribbles - I think a self-portrait would be completely unrecognizable.

M just started saying S sounds this summer at 4.
No experience with the drawing but my guess is if he doesn't do it often he doesn't know how. Kind of like if a kids never been on a swing they wouldn't know how to pump. Doesn't mean anythings wrong just need to experience it to know how.
And at 3 I'd guess he isn't the only one.
